Slipstream car work from a few cars lengths back , also you should consider that a lot of it is from corner exit speed, not slipstream.
Cars are all the same power, old and new. The RF90 I was driving was one of the oldest on the grid, 10+years older than the newest.
No, he's just slipstreaming.

It looks like you are using a 4 speed H-pattern to shift. Is that a Formula Ford you are driving?

Those tyres were used for wet and dry in Formula Ford at the time, and they were horrible tyres to drive on. No real grip.

I suppose thats why drivers start with Karting. I was told you learn a lot of race craft there.
I did it when I was 7 charging through the woods but I never had the money to do it on a track until now

Donington's a fantastic track. I came all the way from the US to see the BTCC in 2004 at Donington, and it was incredible. This video is great, you really get a great sense of how challenging but fun this circuit it.
