I live in the same county where this mine explosion happend and the biggest mine disaster in this nations history happened and that was the Mononga mine explosion it killed 362 men and children the nations biggest mine disater to this day im the grandson of a 3rd generation miner and this was a Consol Mine this was the last mine explosion to this day they are the safest company in the industry

I remember being really sick that December. We lived in the next state over-east. The air was very dirty. That was the first time I remember black soot when I would blow my nose. No one would talk about how it was from the big coal mine disaster. "Oh, that is just pollution."
