  • John Browning Wins!!!

  • @sharqus, not aware that there is a gen4 model 21 available yet so I'd say gen3

  • I'm not a fan of either manufacturer.

Let's face it folks, there are tons of companies making guns nowdays.

Some aren't worth the metal use to build them and some are the near model of perfection.

Personaly I prefer my taurus PT 809 9mm for two reasons. It's reasonable price and it accurate.

    Lets just agree to disagree......

By the way I carry the Hornady 147gr TAP FPD rounds so save the 9mm doesnt have stopping power comments.

    thank you.

  • @BR0KENT0YS0LDIER can not beat .45 stopping power. Also, i get so many returns and trade ins of the pt 809 i dont sell or buy them anymore. You can not beat Glock reliability. I will always stock and sell 1911's and glocks.

  • I've shot both. Prefer the 1911 way more. Glocks just feel like you have to wrestle with them to get back on target.

  • Question...I've got smaller hands, the traditional 21 is a bit large. How does the SF stack up? Any help would be appreciated!

  • @MyRagingPwner I Just bought a 21SF and the hand grip feels so much more comfortable and makes it feel like you have more control when firing. Definitely worth it.

  • What gen glock?

  • I dnt like glock 9mm or and 9mm only 45s for me please :)

  • The video is informative and awesome. Hooray for consistency.

This just goes to show that in 100 years, the same cartridge performs the same on high end/low friction pistols, but the newer 40 S&W is more practical. I know of a few 45 ACP cartridges that have performances that are insane... but you need a +P+ rated pistol.

    The video is still awesome.

  • good recoil management!

  • the right thumb is akimbo. that should be straight pointing front

  • Good grip!

  • This was how I was trained to hold a pistol but that little lip on the side of the 1911's slide makes my left hand thumb nail terrified.

  • @FastRedPonyCar you do not know how to hold a pistol. you are the one complaining for that not others.

  • @nikolascote shut the f*** up u troll, I bet u can't even afford a glock t(-.-t)

  • one of these days your gonna take that slide to your hand

  • @BLAZEDGODD your an idiot.

  • wow, how many fingers, thumbs and sweaty palms can one person wrap around a pistol?!

  • @WrathofWotan would you perfer it on handed gang banger styler so the shooter cant hit anything?

  • finally someone with good grip.

  • Heh, I didn't see the Obama ads... anyway great video.

  • Why is Obama running ads during this video???

  • @o5iiawah Because Obama loves guns ;)

  • It always seemed counter intuitive that a 1911 would be easier for multiple shots in quick succession, but the slow motion shows what might be the reason: the heavier slide, and stronger spring, push the weapon back into battery faster and with more force. The recoil might be a little more exaggerated, but when the slide comes back it pushes the weapon back to the original point of aim. Cool video.

  • .45acp is NOT a powerful round. Look it up.But id still trust my life with a .45 any day over a 9mm,.380 or,38 for a human target.

  • @LordHumungusFL WTF do you mean it's not? what are you measuring powerful as? what do YOU define it as, in all honesty of course? Because when it comes to semi-automatic handgun rounds the .45 Automatic Colt Pistol round is devastating. It is able to transfer more energy that a .30-06 and that was proven by the military when comparing the M1911A1 Handgun and the M1 Garand Rifle. It is as large a caliber tends to get before becoming unsavvy with recoil like the .50 Action Express is.

  • @AlllamericanQB 30-06-.223,762.xx,7mm,8mm,308..not trying to start shit but these are all rifle rounds and you are VERY wrong to even try and compare a 30-06 or any of these rounds to a .45ACP! Its not even a rifle round!?! 357 mag is far more powerful then 45acp in every way you look at it. Its a fact that 45acp CAN* fall short with penetration. Also you would be a fool to try and hunt any LARGE game with 45acp..I love my GLOCK 21 but it is not as powerful as my 357 or my 10mm!

  • @LordHumungusFL I know they're rifle rounds, which is why i brought it up. I didnt say anything whatsoever about penetration. I said it can transfer energy which are 2 different things and transfering of energy is a matter of physics. Also, what made you come up with hunting?? i said it was powerful but you won't see people fighting wars with any handgun sir. Also, you can't say a .45 ACP isn't powerful. You can say it is not as powerful as another....but you can't say it is weak

  • @LordHumungusFL its a powerful round, but not a fast one. it will penetrate more then lets say a 5.56 round would because of bullet weight. Being a subsonic round, i feel doesnt make it "not powerful"

  • ...... Okay, Who Would dislike this video. "Oh, guns are bad" ...

  • less muzzle rise with the Glock at least with this shooter.

  • 1911 is my all time favorite pistol

  • Very good video. But have to ask, what is the outcome of watching the slo-motion video in comparing these two .45 pistols? To my eye, I really don't see any difference. Perhaps I am still old school, but I like seeing the exposed hammer on the 1911 vs. the indicator on the Glock. Again, thanks for you efforts.

  • The grip I talk about using is a tactical grip for every hand gun not just revolvers,,, its a style that keeps your hands free and clear of the action when your moving around in a tactical style...... Aka cover to cover..... 80% of shooters have the worst bad habbits in shooting cuz they are self tought.... Movies.... You tube videogames.... Airsoft.. lmfao!

  • GLOCK ALL THE WAY!!!

  • left thumb over right thumb!!! lock it down!!! if it doesnt feel right then maybe your a lefty!!!

  • @suicideking302 I used to use that grip starting off, now I use a slightly modified version of the one you see in this video. It's a grip that offers more control of the recoil. The grip you described is best used for revolvers only.

  • i cant stand people doing that with thier thumbs!!!

  • @suicideking302 agreed

  • lets read the comments for some grand ol glock v 1911 talk

  • Let's not forget that the Polymer frame on the Glock absorbs recoil as well.

  • @ProxStud No it doesn't.

  • @FiveTwoSevenTHR I have not ran any Finite Element Analysis on it myself, but according to Glock and many popular gun shows, they say it does absorb some shock due to the material properties. I can't prove this myself, so take that with a grain of salt.

  • @ProxStud Gun shows are the last place you would want to find info. lol.

  • @FiveTwoSevenTHR Let me clarify. When I say gun shows, I meant like on TV, such as Lock N Loaded, etc. My background is in Mechanical Engineering and a Polymer frame would absorb shock. Not sure if this would reduce recoil but if it did, it would be so small that it would not matter. I am also a Certified Glock Armorer, so I am not some bone head either. lol

  • @ProxStud Oh, I thought you were talking about the place where people pay good money to walk around and be assaulted by high prices and lies. How does the Glock absorb recoil? Last time I shot a .40 S&W Glock, it was uncomfortable yet my XD-40 is perfectly fine.

  • @FiveTwoSevenTHR First let me say that the Glock may or may not absorb recoil. I do know that Polymer can and will absorb shock. How much shock is associated with recoil? I have no clue. As for your XD-40 experience, it depends on your hand size, the pistol grips, etc. The XD has a high bore axis in comparison to the Glock, so it should feel snappier in recoil. The lower the bore axis the better recoil control. But if your hand fits the XD better, you may feel it's less recoil for you.

  • Enter Norinco for those who are Feeling the Strain of Expensive Hardware!

  • The only 1911's that are similar in price to a glock are generally made in other countries, and don't have the same amount of custom work kimber, dan wesson, wilson combat, etc. put into their guns. Is a 1200-3000 dollar 1911 better then a stock glock? Hell yes. Is a stock glock better then a stock 1911 in the same price range? Hell yes. Could you buy 3 glocks upgraded with night sights, and a surefire light for the price of one wilson combat CQB? hell yes.

  • Why 1911 ?

    Well, Glocks Didn't Kill Nazi's

  • @scsettlemire87 That is true. A great debt is owed to John Moses Browning. I hold him with the likes of Nikola Tesla. He was a genius. But today we have different, better materials to make guns with. As far as reliability and accuracy go, every other pistol out there is at best a close second to the GLOCK. When SHTF you want a GLOCK in your hand!

  • @TheTundrawolf I DONT THINK POLYMER IS A BETTER MATERIAL THAN STEEL, OR ALUMINUM... IT MAY BE DIFFERENT, BUT DEFINETLY NOT "BETTER" I WOULD RATHER HAVE A SIG SAUER, BROWNING HI POWER, 1911, BERRETTA 92, OR A CZ75 IF SHTF ... THE BUDGET MINDED LAW ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT CAN KEEP THEIR GLOCKS

  • @WestGermanSig I'm not just talking about the polymer.. I am talking about the Tennifer treatment that makes the metal almost as hard as a diamond. The gap between the slide and the frame allows for dirt to escape. The simple and bomb proof firing mechanism. The polygonal rifling. It is like the AK-47 of pistols, but actually very accurate. Dead reliable. No other manufacturer can claim that. Look up the Glock buried for 2 years then pulled out of the ground and fired only being rinsed off.

  • @opferte If the POLYGONAL rifling was SO GOOD they wouldnt state in the owner manual that it could be fouled and a dangerous situation could happen when firing lead bullets.. Its got the gap cause the tolerences are horrible, and the 4th gen is a complete failure... it has a great finish though....just about ANY decent gun can be burried and fired without doing anything but loading the chamber and pulling the trigger

  • @WestGermanSig You see, all of the weapons you listed are damn fine weapons, and I would own any of them. But they all have one fatal flaw: They won't operate without lubrication. Look up the Glock fired hundreds of thousands of rounds without cleaning OR lubrication. None of those weapons could do that. The Glock is a superior weapon and it just so happens it is NOT a high priced pistol. Are you going to take a cleaning kit with you when you are forced to leave your house?

  • @opferte My SIGs go THOUSANDS of rounds without having to clean or relube....maybe of i were to get into a 3000 round gun fight i would be in trouble.....

  • @opferte Really.... leave the house with a cleaning kit.... dont be ridiculous

  • glock = disgusting. it belongs in the kitchen with the other tupperware.

  • @mopar92

    lol

  • With a guide rod the 1911 is better......... Come on the 1911 is a hundred years old ....

  • the 1911 cycles and returns to battery just a hair faster than the glock. I own both, I love both, I shoot the 1911 way more often, and carry it more often than the glock.

  • @ Gun4Freedom that five shot sp101 is a nice piece had a chance to buy one about 12 years ago but my buddy beat me to it 150$ with leather very very nice gun.

  • @SupremeAmerican the grip does suck on Glocks and you don't have many choices I use a Hogue grip on my gen two g19 it helps

  • @megustaface 1911's are by far my favorite gun of all time ( by the way John Browning designed it answer your question) but you got to give up to Glocks I have one 9mm as my service weapon wish we would go to .40 cal but that's a different story anyway there easy to field strip and take a beaten and still work great and accurate great gun to transit from .38 revolvers to autos.

  • or is that what you are shooting? now that i really look at it...

  • colt .45 special combat government addition any day. i know thats not what colt u r shooting, im just sayin

  • I'm kinda impressed to see the 1911 return the next round through the chamber a tad quicker every time. An expert, damn good shooter, or just a lucky shooter this can be a bit of an advantage- competition and so forth. Browning was a hell of a cat, especially with that F/N Browning "oh-no" 9mm that I adore so much. Ciao!

  • Glock 21 all the way. I was anti-Glock for years, then work sent me to Glock armorers school. We broke the guns on purpose and they "never" stopped firing. Made me a believer! I would trust my life with a Glock any day.

  • @jjb51207...yup. We are issued Glock model 22. They are tanks. The tests they go through show their reliability. I love 1911s though. When it comes to accuracy...I am dead nuts on with my 1911s. But no matter the climate or terrain the Glock will always prevail. So I carry them both.

  • John Moses Browning was a genius!!

  • a Glock if u ask me was th best as 9mm its leight it was know for its big clip and putting a .45 doesnt just make the clip smaller it takes away the glock feel

  • @MrJugoG4life 45 is better than 9mm. 1911 is more accurate than glock, even the cheap 1911's.

  • @SupremeAmerican i never said it wsnt i totally agree but a .45 Glock feels weird thats what i said...

  • @MrJugoG4life thats cuz of poorly designed grip of glock

  • @MrJugoG4life What's a clip? Paper clip? Movie Ciip? I'm just confused!

  • @outersun Clip, as in Magazine the thing with the spring thats filled with bullets, i think u understand now, althought with pistols its not really called a clip but everyone calls it that.

  • I always perfered 1911's over Glocks...Glocks just feel cheap to me.

  • I'm always amazed watching a gun cycle. Such a cool piece of machinery.

I don't know why I am so entertained by them. Whoever designed the first semi auto was a smart dude.

  • @megustaface

    I know what you mean

  • @megustaface just fyi his name was john colt reminggton winchester browning :)

  • @megustaface John Moses Browning might not have been the first, but he was the best.

  • @megustaface

I find it amazing that firearms, in general, since J M Browning's design of the slide based, recoil/gas operated pistol, that almost EVERY pistol since has followed suit. From the simple fixed barrel Gas Blow-back to the locked breech, gas operated, rotating lug and tilt barrel assembly of some modern pistols with a variety of assorted functions and features... but they still work the same way. It's funny how a .45acp can cost $99... up to several thousand dollars.

  • @megustaface I'm not sure he was first, but john browning was a genius.

  • @megustaface i think we can thank MR.Browning for that but im not 100% shure

  • @megustaface Mesmerizing, indeed.

  • how about the steel frame glock CCF 39.38oz

  • Nicely done and thank you. I would also like to see side by side comparisions with .45 & 9mm out of the Glock, .45 & 9mm out of a 1911, then for grins and giggle, a G21 & 9mm 1911.

  • @MadeInOregon27 Springfield Armory and colt make excellent 1911s, read up on blogs and watch video reviews and you can learn alot about which 1911 would be best for you.

  • I personally like the .45 1911 over the glock (just my opinion for self defense)

I have been looking to get a 1911 .45 does anybody know who makes the best one? I was thinking Colt? Also what would you rather get, a 1911 .45 ACP OR a Beretta 92FS Inox? Any info from an expirenced gunman would be great!

  • The 1911 seems to have a faster slide. The recoil seems to be the same. Let's see what happens when you shoot with a limp wrist.

  • 1911 gets you back on target much smoother and faster imo

  • thats exactly what the .45 does to the hand.

  • Wow, this shows how much difference a good grip can give you - the muzzle was basically back down as the slide finished cycling.

  • I have large hands but I like my 21 sf never hade a problem it's the gun for me if I can carry a full size

My custom kimber got rid of the dame thing never worked right jammed every time

Not that I don't like 1911 great system I have my grandpas from ww11 works every time still all original

  • The only differences that I can see are:

    1. the shooter has a better grip on the glock than the colt(a very subtle observation)

    2. there is a higher muzzle climb on the colt than the glock

    3. the casings are thrown higher on the colt than the glock

  • Glock 21 = awesome shooter !!!!

  • was it an all-steel 1911? I figured the 1911 would recoil less due to a heavier frame, but in the video, the recoil difference looked neglible to my untrained eyes.

  • @mkygod

a lot of that is from his strong shooting grip

  • @GunWebsites How does he get it I wonder. I mean such strong grip. hmmm????

  • Wow, that was a very nicely done side by side, Good job guys!

  • Thats a fine grip, there.

  • damn right cappin Simeon. probably a stupid and hard to answer question but how much worse is the recoil on a glock 21 then on a glock 17? thinking of going up on the ol caliber chart... but have pansy hands that dont even like .38 spcl +p out of a ladies S&W snubbie =(

  • @BigSean1992

IMO 45acp is not too much worse than 9mm, worth a try

  • @GunWebsites i normally only shoot 45 acp, and stepping down to a 9 mil feels like a totally different ball game. just saying moving up from 9 to 45 you might not notice a big diff, but going the other way its very noticeable. 45 to 40, negligible.

  • @BigSean1992 Glock 21 is soft shooting. Some like the recoil better then the on the 17. .38spcl +p out of a J frame is a hand full for anyone.

  • @BigSean1992

I own a glock 17, a S&W snubbie and have fired my buddies glock 21 a few times. The 21 does kick more than the 17, no doubt, but it's not uncontrollable. I don't like the snubbie because the handle is just too small. You may find that with the larger more comfy handle of the glock 21 that the kick isn't that big of an issue. I went with the 17 because i only use it for shooting paper and the ammo is cheaper.

  • @BigSean1992

    I agree w/ gunwebsites.

I love my 1911, and my g17 - but they aren't the same. The 9mm is much more of a 'snap' and the 45 is more of a 'push.' If that makes sense. I load my own for uspsa and I shot a little lighter than factory rounds and you can really play w/ the recoil w/ different powders.

  • @BigSean1992 If it is a J frame s&w it'll sting with just about anything, they weigh around 14 ounces loaded. A heavier pistol, like a 1911 comes in at ~30-40 ounces and really makes recoil easier to deal with. My 27 ounce sp101 3" firing .357 mags is servicable for me, when I tried the same thing in a s&w that weighed 1/2 as much it got real uncomfortable real quick. I shot my buddys' springfield xd .40 that was the same weight as my revolver and it was fine. Try it out first.

  • @BigSean1992 Modern JHPs in 9mm and .45ACP perform pretty much the same in ballistic gelatin. The reduced cost of 9mm combined with lower recoil for faster followup shots and higher capacity are good reason to stay with what you already have.

  • @BigSean1992 The .45 has more recoil. How much more is different for a lot of people. Might I suggest a trip to the range to shoot one? If you like it, buy one, because the .45 is one of the best self defense rounds you can get.

  • @BigSean1992

If you can do a push up, you can shoot a .45 acp. The thin grip on a 1911 would also be helpful in keeping a death grip on the gun without being squirrly.

  • I've shot both. The 21 is a heckofa shooter. Very accurate and very soft shooting. The Kimber can be crazy accurate though with a bit more trigger time.

  • nice

  • Glocks feed all t ypes of ammo (reliable) and comes right out of the box shooting fine. The 1911 needs work and is outdated. The 1911 feels better in size and grip.

  • Nicely done buddy

  • 1911: Tried, true, withstood the test of time

    Glock: ....meh.

  • Looked like the Kimber jammed at one point. Did I see that right???? Gotta go with the glock mang.

  • 1911 FTW!!! GLOCKS SUCK THEY'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A MAG FED GRENADE!

  • @jims72

    *face hoof*

Sometimes I worry about you ¬_¬

  • Looks like the 1911 had slightly less recoil. How would you guys compare the SF frame on the 21 to the standard size frame? I personally found the standard size frame on a Glock 21/20 to be too fat for my medium sized hands. Although I'm not really interested in a Glock in .45, the 10mm 20 really appeals to me because I already shoot a shitload of 10mm out of my S&W 1006.

  • @gunzablazin01

it's a small difference, so I doubt any performance is different between the two

Almost everyone I know says the SF is more comfortable though

  • Seems to me like the 1911 had less flip and got back on target faster with less secondary bouncing. Does that jive with what you experienced?

  • @TheYankeeMarshal

I think it's very subjective in real life at normal speed.. but the cameras don't lie.. in this case it seems like as close to a tie as could be measured (for this shooter at least)

  • honestly, they looked pretty equal comparing the difference in grip angle and size of the two.

then again, the 1911 platform is the most controllable i've shot personally..

    nice video!

  • kooooooool.

  • Strange, the glock appears to run smoother in slowmo.

Never shot the model 21, only 22, 17, and 23. Own the 20, and it's one of the most comfortable shooting of the bunch for some reason. Not sure why but the initial recoil impulse seems much lower and softer than any other gun I've shot. It does have a wallop to the palm, but the impulse feels very even and "slowed down" compared to the 22, which is much more snappy.

  • Good video guys. I personally think by what I saw in this video, that they are equal. But that is due to the skill and training of the shooter. Of course that is my opinion.

  • @Jadedm3

very true, it would be interesting to see various shooters with the same pistol, to see the variance between them

  • @GunWebsites I think you just found another idea for a video. :)

  • gotta go with the kimber

  • Comment removed

  • aww. the glock is cute

  • @bobbyglomp ROFL!!!!!

  • The one chambered in .45acp won hands down.

  • @ProGunTexan

    nice

  • @ProGunTexan always does...

  • quick question, and may be due to the angle, but wont the slide catch his raised fingers gripping it that way? just curious...thanks ^.^

  • Glock had less recoil even though it's lighter?

  • what was the point of this exactly?

  • @MrChandlerhodge

The same can be asked of your comment.

  • @ReaperAZ

    well said, thanks

  • The Model 1911 for the win!!!

    Thanks for the video

  • @MrColt45acp

I think you might be biased, LOL

  • they look to be the same but ill still take a 1911

  • Sorry, but i saw no point on this video..both are awesome weapons in my humble opinion..one just cost more than the other.

  • @voogun

we will be sure to pass every video to you for approval then comrade

  • @GunWebsites i actually havent authorized your last few vids...and yet you put them up...this cannot be allowed to continue (but yeah thanks for the vidz guys)

  • Looks like the slide would catch your thumb. But that's just me...

  • The 1911 has been tested in several wars from 1911 to the present, over 100 years old and still rockin! You cannot beat the all steel manufactured gun!

  • looks the same. nice grip on each of the pistols.

  • @lisolangka

he is a good shooter, made the recoil look light

  • Looks about the same to me. Perhaps an experience shooter negates the difference in recoil.

  • @sprkthead2

    good point

  • 1911 is Gods Pistol... nuff said.

  • "Where does he get those wonderful Quotes?" *Joker laughter* lol

  • The Glock is the quintessential 80's Toyota pick up truck...no matter what you do to it, it just plain works.

The 1911 is like a Muscle Car...requires a bit more "attention" to keep it running, but if done properly will run like a champ.

  • Plastic vs metal :)

  • it looks to me like the 1911 returns to the target more quickly than the glock.

  • This is the perfect example of what Todd Jarrett was talking about in his shooting course. That muzzle ends up pointing about 20 feet over the initial shot.

  • I've only shot a luger a shotgun and a m4...My life sucks :(

  • that is not what i expect to see from a "high speed camera" D'; Thumbs Down D:

  • @wax147

exactly what we expect from YT comments though ...

  • @GunWebsites haven't you seen other videos that show footage taken with high speed cameras or what? T.T

  • @wax147

I have seen babys cry, I've seen puppy dogs pee, and now I've seen your foolish demands..

But I haven't seen the cash for a new camera from you.. when do you plan to send it?

  • Hum, Glock has more rounds, but 1911 feels great in most people's hands. Both are reliable, though 1911 can jam on the last round if your mag is worn out. Glock is lighter, which means easier to carry, but the heft of the 1911 makes recoil a smooth push rather then a snap.....ugg, I can not decide! lol. I am sure I am not the only one with that problem.

  • @Jesses001 try deciding between the hk45 and the sig 226. That's what I'm going through. :(

  • Couldn't tell much difference. I want to know how it feels. Had a glock 23 for years, never could get used to it. Finally went back to my 19. I've been told the .45 has less recoil in the glocks...
