It makes absolute sense. Gay activists want to change marriage into a genderless institution. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GAY MARRIAGE, so I do not understand why gays are demanding to change the definition of marriage to appease their own alternate behavior. If there are any rights that gays are not given under civil unions, I would support them in changing that.

You just sited actual civil rights issues. The passage of proposition 8 is not a civil rights issue. With the passage of proposition 8, gays are given equal rights clearly stated in California's constitution.

Proposition 8 doesnt take away any rights or benefits from gay or lesbian domestic partners. Under California law, domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections and benefits as married spouses. (Family Code §297.5.) There are no exceptions to this. Proposition 8 will not change this.
