good ole Onslow beach. 2nd Recon used to be there back in the day. TAD to recon in 87. from the 3 man rooms of Okinawa to old ass wood framed squadbays. Semper Fi.
my first beach experience at Camp Lejeune was about 3 days after we got there and it was just after xmas. i'd never seen dolphins before but i got to see them playing and they were REALLY close to the shore. 30 to 40 feet out which i've been told is unusual for them but it happens. It made me cry it was so amazing.
I was a 0811 (artillery) with 5/10 at CLNC from 94 to 98. We used to shoot out back toward the back gate. I miss that sound and the shock it puts through your body. nothing like when your heart skips a beat or two!! :)
I used to wake up to this sound when I was on base. I actually liked when the helos would fly over. I loved the "Chop, chop, chop" sound. I thought it was soothing.
When the arty hit, it sometimes would set off the car alarms.
lol i hate Jacksonville NC too but my husband is stationed there for at least another two years and if it gets me away and keeps me away from my MIL, i'll suffer there. Only back home until my hubby comes home from this deployment!
did they have lego land back in the 80s and 90s?

I was an 0811 in Sierra 5/10..97-01. The only thing I miss is hearing those 198's blast away some times.

Lord I miss that damn place, but I wouldn't go back to live there for all the money in the world. I hated Jacksonville. It was an absolute armpit.

eers2ya,
Been there done that. You got a point. At least at Lejeune we had Norfolk, VA only 3 hours away and Myrtle Beach.
You guys had Tijuana, which was alot further from what I understand.
