pause at 2:13 for a minute I did not think that was a rip, I thought it was an another design on the shoe, it look good like that with that diamond made cut in the middle he should make those more often. lol
man, i was two when this happened. i take it from the video at the beginning that this was when MJ was peaking in fame and glory. i wish i'd been old enough to watch him during this time... must have been really exciting watching him finally earn his first championship
SERG9599 I agree, Kobe and Lebron play in a league with no defense and this has led to inflated offensive numbers, but still none greater than Jordan's numbers during an era that was all about defense.
I saw John Salley on BDSP claiming that Kobe is the greatest because he played with both of them, but he forget to mention he was a bench warmer and holds a personal grudge against Jordan because they always faced off in grueling games in the late 80's.
what do you think , who has sweeter shooting stroke, between these players, reggie miller, ray allen, kobe brayant, allan houston, glen rice and Jordan?
Ray Allen certainly has a better range and an even better shot....but Allen never really took control of a basketball game nor doesn Allen pick his spots wisely when he misses certain shots...on top of that Jordan still performed well even on his bad days...so Allen is the better shooter, Jordan is the better player
Jordan shot 54% FG during the 90-91 season. Wow! Can you picture any perimeter player shoot 50% FG taking all those difficult shots? All those shots he has to take with the shot clock running down?
it's painful to see those AJ VI slit open in the toe area..
an injury wouldn't stop MJ, the only thing that would stop him is to lock him outside the arena, don't let him get in to the gym, that would be your best defense against MJ.
6 time NBA Championships, 6 time MVP, Best defender of NBA at the same time, 10 Titles of scorer, 2 Olympic Gold Medals,Record ppg of all time ih History of NBA, University Champion and best University player. hey hoopsencyclopedia...if anyone has this game...it would be you...and if you do, please post....Dec 25, 1992...Bulls v. Knicks...Jordan 42 points...it was on national tv yet no one seems to have it
jordan always seemed to elevate his game at will, and all those christmas day games are no exception. several from '87 on were all pretty special. i'd like to see them all cuz he had some posterizations of ewing and others.
lol I know right, I think he spent his time in Italy just studying Jordan ALL day, he got him down pack. But he will NEVER duplicate the original. Kobe will go down as one of the best. Jordan is/will go down as the best.
as good as he was it seems that his kids should have been born with as much talent as they have but they still good but you cant make them live up to the expectation of being no way near as good as he was but they will probably be in the nba for a long time but they wont be stars
The truth is no defense could ever stop Jordan (not even the bostons..). Kobe maybe have moves (he copied from Jordan anyway). But he never will have what it takes to beat another team when it really maters and win so many games in last seconds.... No one will ewer be like Jordan.
you can't really say that coz jordan never got to face the 2008 boston celtics. but to be honest with you.......i think jordan could've torn their defense apart single-handedly. if only he were born a little later......sigh.....MJ without a doubt is the greatest his profession has ever seen.
If Jordan could rip apart the 85-86 Celtics....in Boston.....during the playoffs....when the Celts won the NBA title (who are clearly better than the Celts who won the title this year), he could do likewise to this Celtics team.
the truth is kobe sucks in the finals, and your excused now is boston's defense, and, Everytime kobe lose, you all gonna blame it to his teammates, what a joke! again.. you all say that celtics has a great defense, its bec. KOBE SUCKS THAT NIGHT.. YOUR JUST SEEING,PICTURING IT AS A GREAT DEFENSE..FOR AN EXCUSED.
What's up with mentioning Kobe?? Who cares, Kobe is Kobe, MJ is MJ. Kobe didn't give up, he just didn't play smart. Great vid Hoops, another MJ classic.
Kobe has great athletic ability no doubt, but he lacks the leadership and Desire that MJ ever had. MJ would've never quit like Kobe did in the finals.
I'm mean no disrespect to kobe, but Kobe NEVER, EVER had Jordan's explosive moves, freakish body and blood-thirsty desire to win! Jordan's ability to just do it was just shocking on any level!
Greatest to ever play the game!!! wow this brings back memories of my childhood i was only 11 in 91' but it seems like yesterday that i was sitting in my couch biting my nails hoping the bulls would win and the always did ..
No one plays in pain better than "The King", Michael Jordan. It seems like when Jordan is inflicted with an illness, or an injury of some sort. That usually spells doom for the opposition.
Considering the Bulls only played the Lakers twice a year and that Woolridge only played on the lakers in the 89' and 90' seasons the dunk would have had to have happened in 1990, also considering the only game at the forum between these two teams in 1989 is on youtube and that play isn't in the game. So the probable date of the game is February 7, 1990 where the final score was LA 121 CHI 103. In the game Jordan had 32 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
That's because there's no one -- certainly no non-big man -- who ever had his timing for blocks, steals, and deflections. And if you actually watch the games and slow-mo 99% of these blocks etc. are clean, even when the offensive player exposes the ball late or from odd angles, regardless of how Jordan is contorted or which hand he uses for the play. Just amazing timing, instincts, and reflexes.
Hoops, good to see you uploading again. :) Quick question: do you have the Laker game (or know which game it is) where the picture to start the video comes from? It's Jordan dunking on Woolridge, and (in full size) is one of my favorite NBA pictures ever. MJ just plows through Woolridge. They show this dunk from under the basket with MJ coming towards it on some highlight videos, but I've never seen the play from the normal game angle. If I knew which game it was from, I could get the game
I know exactly what dunk you're talking about of course. I vaguely recall having that game but I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is. I'll try to go through them and get back to you. Thanks.
Great post as always hoops. Question are you still working on The Artistry of MJ part 2? Cause if so there's a crazy dunk you have to put on there. Type in MJ shatters the backboard and watch the clip. It's from some Nike game in Italy in 86. I never knew MJ broke the glass before.
thanks a man! great upload as usual. nice to see MJ in his prime doing the things he does best -- beating the hell out of the opposition with superb game and level of artistry that is still unmatched today.
Some great moves, especially that dunk over Perkins. This is the game where Michael goes flying into the crowd after a loose ball even though it was in the final minutes and Chicago had a big lead. It was actually kind of dumb of him because he really could have injured himself, but it just shows his heart and passion. There's a few "superstars" today who won't dive for a loose ball even if the game's on the line.
Hoops: thanks for the great upload. long time in coming. better late than never I guess. Keep 'em coming btw. Outstanding NBC coverage. Bob Costas' voice is priceless. MJ's 1st championship ring is priceless. Marv Albert's mannerism is priceless. Mike Fratelo's commentary is priceless. This is way too good.
I remember it more like this "...so even as the children say i'm gonna be michael jordan someday...u wonder if somehow he'll find a way to be michael jordan again today"
Pretty much the same i know lol, some intros just stuck in my head, those were the days
"West Side"? This isn't a fucking Rap Battle, it's the NBA. Just because the two regions are split up into conferences doesn't mean there's supposed to be some War. People from the West Coast are generally very Un-American anyway, so fuck them.
Lakers were a finesse team. Everyone knows that who watched basketball in that era. People always predict that the western conference finals will be the "real NBA finals" every year and that just doesn't seem to work out either. The Lakers were an "were gonna outscore you" team. They were better defensively in the 80's. Some of the Bulls toughest tests came in the Eastern Conference bracket. That's not media hype either, it's the way it was if you remember. It wouldn't be such a surprize.
