I love listening to Thom Hartmann on local radio. He gives progressive, intelligent analysis to a myriad of issues. However, when the subject of the IDF atrocities against the Palestinians surfaces, he shuts down every time. There is something to this assertion. Maybe he should invited Norman Finkelstein to his program.
When you call repeatedly into a show and mention a book solely to hype it, it is different than simply referring to a book. Also, if a book is known by Thom as one that he personally disagrees with, it is his show. I know Thom to be a fair minded person and someone that can take a strong stance against what Israel has done and continues to do. You are wasting your time bashing Hartmann.

I love listening to Thom Hartmann on local radio. He gives progressive, intelligent analysis to a myriad of issues. However, when the subject of the IDF atrocities against the Palestinians surfaces, he shuts down every time. There is something to this assertion. Bob from Detroit discussed the book, and as Thom had read it, they could converse about it.
The other call instead of discussing his book, mentioned it's release date and that you could buy it on Amazon.

A major part of his show is to have at least one interview with someone who he does not agree with.
However, the one issue he will never allow to be discussed, let alone discuss himself, is the illegal and immoral Jewish occupation of Palestine.

I still have much respect for him on the other issues, but this one particular issue seems to draw an uncharacteristic silence and lack of acknowledgement on his show. At best he portrays the Israeli/Palestinian conflict as an equal and level playing field between two opponents. The imbalance of aggression, resources and media PR is blatantly weighed to one side. The caller 2 calls earlier wasn't calling in with the intent of "hyping" any book. He didn't say where you could get it and ask questions about it, he just stated that he had just read it. Thom then agreed and moved on.
Your call, however, was clearly a sales pitch of sorts and was needlessly accusatory toward Thom, not relevant to your very interesting question and very valid point of view, which I happen to agree with. Thom has dissenting opinions on daily.

I can't believe Tom Hartman would act in such a foolish way. It's clearly the Israel lobby in this country is pretty much in control. I am reading the "Israel Lobby" book right now and this book is amazing. Everybody should read this book to see what is being done in their name on behalf of Israel.

For every suspicious and accusatory perspective on "The Lobby", one can easily find equally scathing pieces on Jihad, Terrorism, the Iran-Syria partnership and their activities, the Muslim Brotherhood offshoots, Hamas, Hizbullah & the mess that has come of Lebanon at their hands... the list goes on. Thom is not being hypocritical. Your call was not to convey an idea or to ask a question. Your call was for the purpose of selling books. That is why Thom cut you off. The original caller conveyed his agreement with the content of a book he read and then asked a question. That is what happens on his show. If you really want to get the ideas in this book out then call and ask questions, open a dialog don't try to sell anything.

Call Thom Hartman and talk about the ideas in the book without hyping it, and something different may happen.

David Ray Griffin is a brilliant man, and I would love to see him as a guest on Thom's show. I listen to Thom occasionally on Sirius Radio, incidentally, and I must admit to having liked him, but I am disappointed in this hypocrisy. Re: Ed Schultz, he has always rubbed me the wrong way. One Sirius Left host who is NOT an apologist for Israel is Lynn Samuels, who (by the way) is Jewish. She's great ... very funny and smart (and a 9/11 Truther, too).

Griffin says "in fire-induced collapses, Horizontal beams and trusses would begin to sag; vertical columns, if subjected to strong forces, would begin to bend." BUT he thinks "there were no signs of bending or sagging" HE IS WRONG! WE have the witnesses AND the photographs and videos. Yes there was sagging and bending! WE CAN SEE THAT!

Griffin has a PhD. in Philosophical Theology, so he's no scientist. I would therefore not call him the "top 9/11 guru". Regardless, just because he might have made remarks that were in error doesn't make him stupid. I still think he would make a fine guest. Matters of science, though, is best reserved for the genuine experts like Dr. Steven E. Jones.

I've heard Mr. Hartmann being protective of Sen. Sanders before. Bernie has been a guest every Fri. for some time and many people have tried to "shoehorn" issues on him during call ins. I think it is usually a good segment. There are alot of books on jews/zionism/zionists/israel written by ALOT of different people, to expect someone to comment on one (or even acknowledge its existence) without reading it first would be silly.
