This was probably shot from the sound board platform, but why is all of this old footage so lacking in qaulity? Why would anyone do such a shitty job, or not properly store it?
@Hunkola Most likley it exists!! and I would LOVE to see DVD quality footage from the 1984 tour (Montreal 84 was actually very good footage tbh even tho it was amateur shot)
@fraroc --- I agree that Eddie most likely has a full 1981 concert in his film vaults.....he's just being a weird prick for never releasing it.....I've seen the Montreal '84 footage but the lighting is poor so it kinda ruins the enjoyment for me
In an interview that's floating around on youtube, Ed explains loud and clear that the reason for not releasing that stuff is a legal (rights) issue with the record company. It's apparently a very nasty one. He stresses to the interviewer that he keeps his mouth shut about it 'cause it's sensitive stuff or he'll come to his house and kill him (half joking). And now, years later, it's floating online.
I guess the relationship between VH and their label wasn't very good.
I wish they'd release that full Oakland 81 show they have videos for. They were at their peak this tour. By 1982, seeing the bootlegs now, they play too fast, Ed begins tapping too much, and Dave begins his decent, caring less about singing, more into clowning around. Still fun, great, but a notch down. 1981 they were polished, but still raw.
when oh when r they going to release a boxset with all these rare n terrible videos of concerts !!!! who cares if there terrible ,it rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw that tour. I might have been 14 . So close to the stage we scared the band! BAD AS HELL!!!NFS music and bands have changed and not for the better.
@Liberty4UandMe - in '81, no zoom button unless you were a professional videographer or camera man. This was probably filmed with a betamax recorder that weighed as much as a truck tire.
great tour saw them at the tangerine bowl the same year late summer, i remember driving up from ft lauderdale w/ no tix & waiting until the show started we then were able to cop a few tix for $5 each..
Oh yeah! I saw them on their WAC tour as well as FW, DD, 1984 and 5150! I was on the front row for every concert except 5150. I even met the band at the FW concert! Got Alex and Mikes autograph. Talked to DLR but he was kind of a jerk and refused to give us autographs. Saw Eddie with Valerie but he just waved to us. I was really bummed not to get his autograph. I actually LOST those autographs several years ago. Talk about bummed out. Still have the memories though! GOOD TIMES! WE NEED NEW VH!!!
Yeah man thats an amazing story! I was watchin a clip off youtube here of the US Festival and the party backstage... OMFG its like insane the parties they had and then to go play an amazing show. Cool that you met the boys!
never thought i'd say it, but i miss 240p.
