It constantly amazes me how little Christians know about their own religion. Most biblical scholars believe that their Christ child was born either in the spring or the fall. Christmas is just the Winter Solstice, which the Christians hijacked from the pagans in order to make it easier to convert them to their religion. Christians need to stop getting their undies in a bunch and get a clue. They're celebrating a pagan holiday!
First of all, the winter solstice is the 21st. Although I agree that many Christian holidays were scheduled on top of pagan celebrations, they are not "celebrating a pagan holiday," they are celebrating a Christian holiday that happens to be on the same day as a pagan holiday.
@Melissa230984 I am a Christian and I knew about the time of year they think Christ was born and the pagen stuff...like the tree and all that, but its not important what time of year or whether or not you have a Christmas tree in your house...you are celebrating Christ's birthday...just like if you had to work on your birthday so you celebrate it another day. the time of year doesn't matter. What matter's is that his birthday is acknowledged..
@Melissa230984 I completely agree. I've never understood it myself- the hijacking of holidays. I guess they were just jealous of the twinkly lights on our trees. :3
@Melissa230984 Ha ha ha ha ha........ And all YOU know about our faith comes from the Davinci Code, etc.... Really, dont you know that Dan Brown is a FICTIONAL writer of whom believes his own FICTION? We know exactly what we celebrate, the divine birth of Jesus Christ. But honestly, it doesn't matter when he was born, its the fact that he was that matters
@Melissa230984 Christmas is what you make it. If this is how families want to celebrate christmas and the birth of the savior, who are you to say otherwise. Seems to me its better than not celebrating at all. How do you know thats the way it went down, were you there, no its something you were told. Just because it means nothing to you, doesn t mean you should try to spoil it for the children, your the pagan..jerk....
The song is called 'You Raise Me Up' It was written by Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland. It was been sung by many including Josh Groban, Westlife, and many others.
Thank you. As I've said to previous posters the speed of the song can be set at whatever speed (unless you're a music snob, and demand rigid adherance to the original, which inhibits personal interpretation)
In your opinion of course. The speed and manner in which a song or piece of music is performed is down to the interpretation of the artist, or in this case the conductor of the choir.
In my humble opinion, I have listened again and it is way too fast. I personally love Brian Kennedy's version, which moved me to tears at George Best's funeral !!!
::smiles:: Lovely! My Soul is played like the Cello and anything that is played with a Cello touched me deeply. Josh Groban is a wonderful artist if the last 10 years. So what a nive tribute as well. Then add the Choir, which is what I grew up in.. and Voila you have a Masterpiece! Bravo! Thank you for posting this Video up! His autumnrain, becca @-->----

My Mums in the choir - Hello mum! Do you have any film of the concert in June with the German male choir?
Great to see this - they recorded a CD today - 4th Nov 07.. on sale before Christmas :-)

They sound really nice but too fast???
CassPetey 4 years ago
Too fast? Not according to the Conductor of the choir, who is a far more experienced musician than me. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
