Sorry, just out of pure curiosity, what is he placing on his arm at 2:14 and for the next few seconds? What are the black boxes and the strap around his arm? Please answer, I'd really like to know. I've never seen this before.

I believe the black box is called "tefillin" and it is very holy. The boxes contain scriptures. The origin and explanation is really intriguing. Anyway, I'm Catholic so I'm not good with all the details, but there is a very good overview and detailed explanation at Wikipedia. Go to Wikipedia-dot-com and enter "tefillin" in the search box on the left. YouTube comments doesn't allow for posting links so you will have to go to the site yourself.

What he is placing on his head and arm is called Tefillin and it is a commandment from G-d in Deuteronomy for every male Jew to put this on in the morning for prayer. Hope that helps.

Aww-Nice vid-Nice family-cute kids. I find Jewish culture very interesting-I dont know anything about it-In Australia we dont have a really big Jewish culture-Do these kids get very nervous b4 their Bar Mitzva? Dont u parents have a kind-of competition 2 see who can put on the best one?-u dont need 2 be Jewish 2 attend 1 do u?-u just gotta wear 1 of those hats?

Ha. No competition among parents. The kids do get nervous, but it's a rite of passage so they usually rise to the occasion. And no, you don't have to be Jewish to attend, but you do have to be circumcised (just kidding).
