  • Hi, How I get it wood tool from eyes and lip make Greatly....

  • Brilliant!

  • looks like fun time :)

  • The talent...it burns..

  • it reminds me of bill engvall

  • Daaaaang! How long would a sculpture like that take for him?

  • You Are Amazing....

  • what did he use as a base? newspaper?? (over the top of the clay?)

  • I know this is a little off topic, but I was wonder what the song was called or the musicians name, I just love it!

  • I know its a little off topic, but what song is this playing along with it? I just love it!

  • Wow , I can only dream of sculpting like that!

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing your art!

  • It looks best before he puts on the hat and beard; only because those two things make the bust look older. And I agree that it is creepy to see the top of its head taken off; because it really would be painful if that thing were alive.

  • incredible !

  • omg i'm fall in love

  • One day I will be able to do this!

  • WOW! Incroyable!!! Incredible!

  • I really liked the eyes

  • 3:28 ♥_♥

  • That's one gay cowboy.....

  • thats good sht

  • That is Ahhhhmazing!

  • I guess I expected only one final sculpture, whereas the video captures several, with transitions among them. The results is far more interesting than if the video had only singled out one final work. My class at Sinclair Community College assigned me to watch this video. The college made a great choice in order to help me appreciate art!

  • супер!!

  • This video is making me question my career options :( Economist or Sculptor ? Fuck -___-

  • Too cool. Arrest him.

  • all that in just 3 minuites, i'm impressed!

  • hhhhh.... thatss very excellent

  • the best video avec art i have ever seen.

  • Do you ever go to conventions? I'm an illustration student and I'm going to try to go to Illuxcon this coming year :]

  • My mind .....just got fucked

  • @timekiller159 good way to express your feelings :)

  • wait, did you make this sculpture mrCredulo, or are do you just know a lot about making clay busts?

  • That is one sexy sculpture.

  • esse cara é um genio!!! perfeito! parabéns!

  • Its awesome....loved it..:)

  • that would make my sculpture like 10 kg, any links to vids that do it with a ballon, wire mesh, plaster of paris and clay?

  • @79avrillavignefan The final sculpture is actually hollowed out so that the thickness is less thatn 1/4 of an inch! so the sculpture is not really that heavy!

  • When he hacks off the top of the sculpture's skull to put on the hat and the armature appears underneath that creeps me the fuck out. I know it shouldn't, it's just clay, but it does.

  • damn, does all that before the water clay dries out... I feel slow now with my plastilana skills... I need to practice more... enspiring

  • @killerwolf02 acutally the clay never dries out if you just keep on spraying water!

  • @MrCredulo So how long does the average water clay sculpture take you? I put in 40 hours into some of my full head masks.

I'm learning a bit more with water clay and it's nice because it's fast, but I like the detail I get with the hard stuff. I use a medium Chavant NSP

  • @killerwolf02 They do take a long time to finish, specially a bust like the one of the video, i takes me like 60 to 90 hours to finish mines. Yeah hard stuff is good too but if you make a mistake is very difficult to fix.

  • @MrCredulo I just can't get the detail I need from water clays, and for casting it's so easy to ding, but I do wierd monsters and such. I am trying more with water clay though as it's less expenssive and it is pretty speedy. Just can't blow torch it to melt it, or other things. There are some pretty soft plastelines out there. I've worked under artists who use waterclay, and casting their pieces is a pain... multi piece prosthetics have to be handled and chopped up alot. Hence the plastline.

  • What material did you use?

  • @suxana99 Clay!

  • amazing!!!

  • What do you make the armature out of?

  • @Malganess wood, Wire and newspaper

  • what type of clay do you use because i want to try and make one of thoses heads even though i dont know how i want to try . please reply

  • @vidboy2218 if its gonna be your first sculpture i recommend you use Terracota, it is widely avaliable and the best for sculpture. and get a book about sculpture for beginners so that you know what to do!

  • merci !

  • what does he use to smooth out the clay? :o

  • He inspired me! i started following his steps n everything! pure talent!!!

  • truely AMAZING!

  • qual o material que vc utiliza é??????????para esculpir lindo seu trabalho

  • Nice work Philippe

  • Это просто фантастика!

  • If I had alot of clay I would make a Knox Klayman :D

  • omggg why does it look so easy??? i want to learn how to sculpt!!

  • what an amazing artist you are!

  • damn

  • His eyes see something mine cant and his hands do things mine cant, how someone is born with this talent is magic to me.

  • @007auntbek Well, someone isn't just born with his "talent", he has spent countless of hours perfecting his art, it is all about practice.

  • 007auntbek Is NOT talent!!! Is hard work! I believe is very unfair to tell an artist he was born with talent or some sort of gift when is reality is all hard work!!! Years, and years of practice!

  • Wow. Great Work!

  • Magnificant.

  • Amazing!

  • that is just unfair haha

amazing!!!! I wish I had your skills ;D

  • you are amazing! i would love to do this and i have the ability to. but i have no time to do it.

  • Soooo impressive!

  • The sculpture started out lookin pretty hot and then got a lot less so.

  • That is awesome.

  • How long did it actually take to sculpt.

  • great

  • perfect

  • He a real artist ! 10 stars for this master!

  • WOW!

  • what about air bubbles??

  • @bytuij

I would like to know that too!

If we would do that like he does, our teacher would never accept to put our stuff in the kiln!

Appart of that, I love his work, his more than FANTASTIC. He is a geneous! Really amazing!

  • My respect to u... I'm new in this... sry for asking this but what is his using for the sculpting? is like clay but want to make sure for buying the materials to practice myself... gonna be difficult but want to try...

  • @honglong13 You could also try the demo of zbrush which is a computer sculpting program for exercise :)

  • @honglong13 He uses water-based clay. If you check his website he has books and DVD's for sale. I've read one of the books (borrowed form my sculpting prof) and it was VERY well done. It's pretty impressive.

  • Thumbs up - Additional positive generic comment/compliment added to list of other comments.

  • AWESOME... I LOVE IT11

  • genius

  • U NEED TO MAKE MORE !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its a livee

  • what the best clay to work with don't tell me the air dry one because am a beginner and i work slowly so what my other options...

  • @sh8lob911 - polymer clay is a good clay. It has to be baked for it to harden, so it won't air dry. It's also fairly easy to get ahold of. :)

  • lol..looks like its got a brain...

  • Wow this is amazing

  • U R AMAZING!!!!!

  • thats just insane o-o

  • Hi, I heard somewhere that sculpey sculpture should ideally be not thicker than 3cm, so if I want to make a head or person's body, should I use wire for the inside part? or can I make everything from sculpey? The sculpture is kinda small, around 30cm tall from head to toe.

    Can someone please help?

  • @kistajk - is the fininshed clay sculpture going to be put into a kilim?

If so you have got to make your sculpture hollow so use newspaper.

If you are going to cast your finished sculpture is safe to use a wire armature.

i don't think it matter's what thickness the clay is, but you don't want to make it too thin because it will crack.

ALWAYS keep your clay sculpture wet and wrap a wet towel around it.

  • @kistajk - if you sculpture is only small you could make a armiture of it like the one Philippe Faraut makes, use newpaper to get a rough shape then put your clay on, and when it finished you should be abel to pull it off and put the hollow sculpture in the kilim.

i think the best video to watch is the Art Critic?

  • @kistajk - Our you could make your sculpture using the coil or the pinch technique you don't need to make an armiture for them.

Heres some good books you could read on scuplture

Modeling heads and faces in clay by Berit Hildre

The Figure in clay by Suzanne Tourillot

  • @kistajk -yeri think your right about the 3cm for little sculptures, 2.5cm up to 3cm?

  • Wow. Respect. You actually played around with different characters in the clay before settling on the cowboy. He looks a bit like Brad Pitt from certain angles, by the way.

  • 3:12 Hannibal Lecter!!

  • @kistajk -HAHAHAH i get it yer when he fry's Ray Leota's brain.....i'm the only person so far that i know of who can watch that bit no problem.

  • Maravilhoso,adorei!!!!!

  • Maravilhoso !!!! adorei....

  • Brilliant, I see you altered the speed of the video, how long did it actually take to model that cowboy bust?

  • wow...i love it!!

  • Damn blew my mind away, it was so amazing, i want to see alot more of his work, its so inspiring

  • INCREDIBLE!

  • wow!!! He makes it look so easy!!

OMFG! I'm gonna try this! :D

  • That was fascinating to watch!

  • magnifique !

  • Excellent!

  • amazing!!!! may I be as cheeky to ask what clay BRAND do you use??

many thanks for your inspiration :)

  • each time i saw you put some more clay 2 add on & shape the face... i smiled & thougt 'ahhh how awesome!' if only i went to art school.

  • WOW.. I went ouch when he dug out the nose!

  • Wonder-ful. Thanks for this posting. I was mesmerized.

  • You are the best!! I wish I could do that!!

  • wow! Brilliant!

  • not so good, this is just technic

  • @Kapojos Can you show us what's good then? Or at least show us you can do better?

  • @Pitchaxistheorem

Well ofcourse an artist like August Rodin is much more interesting. His technical skill is of the highest level. But the best thing is, his art goes beyond his technical skill, his art containcs a deep vision and searching for life, power, originality and beauty. This Philippe just tries to impress with technics, which in fact everyone can learn if you take your time practising. But true art you cannot learn. Thats he difference

  • @Kapojos Well duh you just compared August Rodin to this guy? I can clearly see the differences but... I see no point comparing him to any person living TODAY! At least try not to anachronize what we're talking about.

  • @Pitchaxistheorem

There are so many sculptors with equal skills like this guy! Because it is just technic! For example: Lotta Blokker, Kees Verkade, Eja Siepman, Robert Bodem, Kees Verkade, etc. And some of those are even a lot better than Philip and even these artist are to me just persons who only have a good technic. There are 100000 of people who can sculpt realistic faces. Charlotte Pallandt is an example of technic combined with power and feeling, but she died in 1997.

  • @Kapojos Why the fuck are you yelling everything you say dick head? By the way, it's is passion. How about you post a fucking video of you trying to sculpt something, anything for that matter and see what you can come up with. Fucking asshole.

  • @DannyBoy443

what do you know of passion and art, you only play video games....

are you an artist? no you are not!

thats why you just dont know...

  • Very fine... showing how the clay is very much "alive"

on the way the final appearance arrived at / accepted.

ClaSSICAL Gas-flavored quite nice sountrack, too,

  • can you tell me what tools you used, and what part you used them for?

  • SUPER!!!

  • its ameazing o-o) i can feel real life from those

  • unbelievable!.....but i just watched it , so i believe it, its still unbelievable!!!!!

  • @whiskdc Of course you'll never be this good not because you can't but because you dont believe it.

  • *gasp* i think i jizzed a little

  • so very cool. i wish i could do this lol

  • You are amazing ....I want to be as good as you!!! you have made me want to sculpt but i know i will never be as god as you.
