When polls are way off, something is rotten. The only way, it appears, to get the attention of the mainstream media is have a result that is completely unbelievable. Who can hack an unbelievable result to help save our democracy? Who is willing to go to jail for our democracy?
The solution is simple. Vote on a machine, a ballot prints that clearly shows who you voted for. Put the ballot in a box. When the votes in the box match the electronic results, you have a valid election.

of course the "online community" thinks that there is fraud. Ron Paul has a disproportionately large number of online supporters and he is losing badly. Diebold machines can only be hacked if someone as unfettered access to them and presumably that is not allowed to happen. I am interested in seeing the outcome of the recount tho, because one can never be too sure.

It is my understanding that in Germany, the ballots are hand cast and hand counted. It takes several days for the official winners to be announced. There is little suspense, however, because professional exit polling has never failed to accurately predicted the winner.
It is only since the United States went to electronic voting and vote tabulation using machines with proprietary (secret) software that the disparity between exit polling and reported results has become an issue.

Interesting that the US media are claiming the recent election in Kenya, in which Kenya's pres. was re-elected, was fraudulent because exit polls showed him losing.
I guess our standards for what might or might not be fraud varies from country to country. In US:irrefutable proof must be there BEFORE we even begin an investigation, and anyone questioning the results is a conspiracy nut. Any place else: even a hint of fraud will destroy a gov.'s legitimacy.
