After the game, notice how Switzer congragulates buckeye QB, whereas after the Sooners won the classic Top 5 matchup in 1977, woody hayes slaps a Sooner water boy. Switzer has class, woody is a bully
I was at this game. Ohio's O-line pushed the Sooners around all day long.
Tomczak played a great game.
But the greatest athlete on the field that day was Buster Rhymes. When Buster had the ball everyone else seemed to be playing in slow motion. Too bad he screwed his career.
Would Marcus Dupree have made a major difference? Though injured, I think he was overweight by this time and was inconsistent from game to game in '83. Think it was shortly after this one that he fizzled out (maybe after the Texas game).
I appreciate Frank's contribution to my 49ers success. Interesting to see how the offenses were different compared to the '77 game. Showed how the option was going out of style (with the exception of its resurgence at OU from '85- '88). Who's the Southern dude in the booth with Keith Jackson?
I don't think I knew much about this game when it happened. Not being a fan of Barry Switzer's or of Oklahoma's I'm sure I would have been pulling for the Buckeyes had I known much about this game. I wonder why the two games were played so many years apart, though.
@BIGBUCK20 I was in the same chemistry class as John Frank and when he came in Monday morning after this game the class appauded him. The next game the Bucks lost. I think the players tended to lose focus after a big win like this. But I guess thats the coach's job to keep them on task.
A great video!

Frank Broyles.
To those of us of a certain age (I'm 39) the Jackson/Broyles team is the "old school" college football broadcasting team.

The should make Oklahoma play Ohio State in a Bowl Game - that way you will guarantee that one of them will finally win a Bowl.

The 83 season was one of Bruce's most disapointing. This great start then to lose 3 B10 games ( Iowa, ILL & scUM). That's why he was ol' 9-3 Earle!!!
