Cracking video guys. We used the video VBox set up in all of this years Nissan race academy r35 GTR's and it was an excellent tool to watch your laps back to see where you could improve. Laughing at the comments on chris he is not the chief instructor for nothing believe me when I say he is driving at 50% in this video in difficult conditions. The throttle and brake look a bit screwey. they look more like Long G rather than throttle and brake.

Like the Engine RPM, these were taken directly from the CAN bus of the car, and calibrated to show the correct values. Of course they will be proportional to Long G, as braking creates -ve G, and throttle creates +ve G.

I think other commentors have somewhat missed the point of the 'chief instructors' job and the purpose of this vid.

The first time it rains after a long dry period at Silverstone is pretty much like driving on Ice. This was the reason the lap looks so slow. He was sliding on the limit on traction around every corner, but it still only shows 0.8g maximum. At a recent race, the qualifying times around the much shorter National circuit were 25seconds(!) slower than in the dry.

I've been round Silverstone in such conditions in a much less powerful vehicle - believe me, you wouldn't want to be blitzing it in a GTR if the track was slippy. Scott185 - have you driven the Silverstone GP Circuit? Have you driven a GTR?

Anyway I rather get the impression that this is more about the capabilities of the Video VBOX than the lap times...

No IV not driven a gtr or been to Silverstone. I have however driven at thruxton in a f355 and single seater a few times. Not saying Im the best driver out there but far from novice. Anyway thats not the point just hate the way some people on here come out with stupid comment like my 380hp 2 wheel driver goes round faster. When he blatantly said it was really slippery and he was just doing instructor talk round the lap not an all out hotlap.

Slow lap, thats a 2:30 in a 4wd 480bhp car. I can do 2:15 in my 380bhp 2wd with no traction control on standard road tyres and no mods.

It does say it's very slippery. If that was fimed recently I'm not surprised it isn't the fastest of laps - it's been bloody freezing.

According to their website, Video VBOX comes with everything you need to record your own footage - cameras, GPS datalogger (for speed, acceleration, position, etc.), a CAN input for getting things like RPM from your car, and even industry-standard analysis and setup software. From the sound of it, everything but the car!

The GT-R is an awesome car too. GT3 performance for a fraction of the cost.
