@rancid1987 Hey there, thanks for your nice comment :). Always cool to hear that people enjoy my punk rock vids :). Stay tuned for more videos ... at the end of april, I'm going to Groezrock festival in Belgium, where RANCID is playing! Cheers from the Netherlands.
4 years ago i listened to a better place a better time at school for the first time. people will tell you ska is dead, and you better respond hell yea it is.
streetlight is an amazing band and i cant wait to see them again.
@skarider8 Agreed, Streetlight is AWESOME! (maybe 'skawesome' is a better word for them ;)).
In my opinion, ska is still "alive" enough to see many great bands tour Europe. Reel Big Fish has been coming over to the Netherlands each and every year for the last 7 or 8 years, Sonic Boom Six has played here lots, recently saw the King Blues (amazing band), Less Than Jake comes here very often ... saw Goldfinger a couple of times recently ... Suburban Legends, New Riot. SKA <3
@ihearttheweakerthans I feel ya man. at least in the US ska is a very dead movement, and only a handful of people know about it. being in my early 20s most people who listen to ska are surprised to see someone so young listening to this skawesome music. i love seeing reel big fish because you get the older crowd and their isnt a bunch of retards trying to hardcore dance to ska :)
@skarider8 Yeah, ska punk shows are the best when everybody is "happy skanking", not moshing. Cool that you listen to ska even though the scene is dead in the US, at the moment!! Do you know the song "This Gigantic Robot Kills" by MC Lars? If not, listen to it (@ search for MC Lars - This Gigantic Robot Kills [HD]) , it'll make you happy :). It's an hommage to ska! SKA IS NOT DEAD :). Kind regards from the Netherlands!
@toastyg15 i went twice this tour. i live in nashville so i saw them here. but i vacationed for the holidays in LA, and coincidentally they were around town so i saw them again... SoCal definitely was an intense pit. These southerners just dont understand.
Two months ago I never heard of this band. I only knew Catch 22. Then I saw this video and from it many others. Now tomorrow I am driving four hours to see them when I barely go to concerts at all, even locally. Covering NOFX and doing some old Catch 22 helped me bring me in so they should keep doing them. Maybe other former 90s ska fans like me will discover them as a result.
@OdindaGod Cool that this video made you a Streetlight fan :). Have fun at the concert tomorrow (is it a tour w/ Reel Big Fish?). Cheers from the Netherlands!
@ihearttheweakerthans It is the Reel Big Fish tour... which is funny because I'm not a reel big fan of them. They have that dopey-ness that I think turns a lot people off from ska. Anyways, thanks for the videos and giving me a new favorite band.
I don't get why they're covering catch all the time like he can't let go and move on. He's not even got that great a voice imo. And no, I'm not trolling, it's my actual opinion. I realise he wrote pretty much all of that album and put in a lot of hard work in Catch's early years. But it's over, just drop it! If I was in that band, I'd hate doing the covers just for Tom's ego's sake. They've wrote their own amazing stuff.
@AzTheSpaz Is was basically the record company that wanted to re-release Catch's Keasby Nights album and Tom didn't want them to do that. He felt it was insane charging people for the same album with the same songs and just a new cover. The only way he could get out of it was offering to re record it with Streetlight. From there, the songs just got popular again and streetlight fans love them. I mean he spent so much time and work with them i feel he would be insane not to play them.
@toxicstupidity Well, thank you for a sensible answer and not a "jump down my throat" answer as if I don't know what I'm talking about ha. Makes a change in the comments section. Didn't know they kinda forced him to do it, but it's still kinda shitty that they're playing them too because it just fuels fire and friction between fans of either band, it seems.
@AzTheSpaz I get where you are coming from, but I think Tom has more of a right to play these songs than Catch does, considering they are his. I would feel kinda pissed if I wasn't allowed to play great songs that I wrote, and even recorded again, just because I played them with another band. Besides, the sound of the Keasbey songs doesn't even fit the sound of Catch now imo.
@altairisme LOL, yeah, it sure looks like that :). Hope they don't mind a big fan recording this, so it can be shared with the entire Streetlight fanbase through YouTube! I mean ... this was such an amazing show.
I'm glad I recorded it, 'cause it's still much fun to rewatch these videos.
