I dont agree witht he hit. It was a for sure penalty for a charge. More or less fanelli should have whipped his body around to pass the puck. Fanelli should have kept going with his progression to go left (our right from watching) From him turning he became verry vulnerable... Its just good to know hes getting better and hopefully he can play for our Rangers next year :)
I don't if any of you are really watching this hit right. This hit is DIRTY. Supercollosal there was an elbow, no he rushed there and rammed his elbow to Fanelli's face. This hit is DISGUSTING. And relating what he does off the ice in no way justifies the horrific hit he placed that night. Full-year suspension should be the least. The guy wants to see a hit, he'll feel one in the NHL, hopefully by Charra.
I think its a clean hit, but francoisfelix5 you make no sence. so ur saying if he didnt get hurt that yes it is clean, but since he got hurt it has to be dirty? good logic (not)
I guess technically it MAY have been a LEGAL hit, but I think it was dirty. He saw his opponent in a vulnerable position and took full advantage. Look up "Marchment hitting Nuiewendyk in the Playoffs" When Marchment played for S.j and Joe played for Dallas. Same thing. No respect. A hit doesnt have to be an elbow to be dirty, it's the intent that counts.
If you think it's a clean hit. Look, he almost killed him, he if would be dead, Liambas would go in jail. I would be very happy if would go in jail because he almost kill somebody, I hate this guy.
..if someone says that this was a clean hit ..please tell me what then is not a clean hit .. Liambas to prison ..every day he should watch the video how he almost killed someone
freakin ridiculous, nobody wants to see that result, but Fanelli turned at the last moment, and his helmet came off which shouldn't have happened. It wasn't an elbow, but it was a charge (excessive distance traveled).
The goalie could have looked to see who was coming, stepped out to slow Liambas down, or one of the players could have clipped him, anyone could have shouted its coming.
You act like this guy is a monster, he runs kids help and stay in school programs and is going in med school
Liambas probably could have pulled up a bit, but at his speed, it would be a hard hit no matter what. Yes it is tragic, but Liambas delivered the hit exactly as coaches teach. Fanelli, however, DID NOT, absorb the hit as he was supposed to and capable of doing given the time he had to prepare.
Fanelli obviously saw Liambas coming. Yes Liambas was coming in fast (which is legal last time I checked) but Fanelli still had time to prepare for the hit he knew was coming. It's not clear what he was trying to do. Watch the video frame by frame. Fanelli turns and fires the puck the other direction, but then inexplicably, as he knows he is about to be hit, he turns even further and pulls a foot off of the ice.
ok i don't think most people realize that these kids are professionals...itr may not be the NHL but most will play there...hockey isn't like basketball, you actually make contact with people...he obviously turned at the last second so no suspension should be there..i feel bad for the dude cuz you never want anyone to get hurt but i had a buddy who played in the ohl and he had 3 knee surgeries by the time he was 18...its rough..get over it
From the top of the circle it took 3 seconds for Labias to hit Ben. The only one that made the wrong choice was Labias, he chose not to ease up when he saw Ben turn to make the play. (Not that bad!!!), The hit broke his helmet. Gave the young man a skull fracture, fractured orbital bone, and severe cuts to the head. Ben is in serious, but stable condition. I THINK THAT SOME OF YOU OUT THERE SHOULD THINK BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY COMMENTS. Best wishes to Ben and his family.
The hit was dirty, but not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The defenseman made an idiotic turnaround at the last second in order to make the play when he should have backhanded it off the boards and Liambas was already on top of him. The hit was still dirty (watch Liambas' elbow smack his head), but not THAT bad.
Some of you guys are tools. Even the commish of the OHL came out and said the hit was clean. I feel bad for the kid but he should have never turned around like that. You guys are fucking idiots if you think Liambis was trying to injure the kid. He was trying to make a clean check and the kid turned around the very last second. I am surprised he is suspended the rest of the year.
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A "Charge" may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.
So NO it's not a 'clean' hit. If a clean hit can cause that kind of damage then there's something wrong.
This isn't the NHL. We're talking about Jr hockey here. These are kids. He's 16 . Branch let parents know that the OHL is looking out 4 their kids
With that ruling of charging, then a lot of calls get missed every night, because it is never called. The outcome was unfortunate and the hit may have been dirty, but it can be considered clean. Fanelli turned from the hit, which is what caused the damage.
Ben was going to be hurt no matter what. The only way he saves himself is if he stops it. Is by anticipating the hit and deflecting some of the force.
Lambias was moving very fast. If he's moving half the speed. He still creates the turn over.
Charging, unsportsmanlike, conduct, stupidity. it's an ugly play on the ice. results speak 4 themselves
fuckin bitch liambis, what pisses me off the most is how he looked unphased by the whole situation, " ohh look theres a pool of blood around the guys head, but he probubally deserved it", makes me fuckin sick
You do know that apparently he cried right after it, right? Lambias didnt yet know the extent of the injury and the other team was attacking him. What did you expect him to do let the shit get kicked out of him?
alright fair enough, i didnt know that he cried after the the game, it just seems a little unclassy to me that even while a pool of blood is forming around fanellis head that hes still mouthing off at the rangers and the officials
Fire with fire. This type of play should not be condoned with more violence. Good call OHL. The hit was made almost 90 degrees to the boards. The intent was to injure.

They have a prayer circle? L0L
What a stupid game! After they fight each other now they pray to God for a miracle? Liambass is a criminal: he did it on purpose. he should be in hail.
Looks like a nasty hit, but with the goalie screening Liambas' view of Fanelli - how the hell was he supposed to know Fanelli would be turning his back to him like that?
He EASILY could have let up...He chose not to. The otters should be ashamed of themselves and there coaching staff for drafting this guy then letting him run around like a loose cannon. The team is using this kid for short term gain. Do they really think Liambas is gonna be a good pro? No, If He doesnt fight and play like a total goon, the coaches wont play him. Shame Eerie, try drafting some skill and making your team somewhere kids want to play. What an Idiot, shame on You Eerie!
Player that plays ice hockey at that league should know how to turn. it was to head. Dirty as hell. its gonna be fucking funny if he doesnt get anything.
Liambas... suspend that neandrothol for life and he can get on with his career as a burger flipper....dum dee dummm dummm...uhhhhhhhhhhh i am going to drill this guys head through the boards..uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh duhhhh dummm deee dummmm dummmmm
