Asalamualaikum brother, Muslims should follow al quran and the authentic hadiths such as as Siha sittah. Alongside this if you need more support then I believe inshallah you can get advice from the four aemmah or from some trustworthy scholars. I believe it isn't nesessary to stick to one imam probably you find a better advice about one thing to another imam. And you can never say one imam is better than the other one. Brother may Allah guide you do not preach fitnah.

The 4 imaams and their students checked hadith thoroughly and took out hadiths that were authentic. The salafis do the same when their scholars like bin baaz choose's some hadith over others. now who's most knowledgeable bin baaz or abu hanifa, imaam shafi, imaam hambal, imaam malik?
@IslamAndAbbasin No one follows the complete quran directly because sometimes one word in the quran can have 10 different meanings. So we study it through someone who specialises in the field i.e. one of the 4 imaams. Also we dont follow a hadith just because it is a hadith because sometimes that hadith has been cancelled by another hadith or there are more authentic hadith that conflict with that. Also we dont call ourselves hanafi etc we call ourselves muslims who follow the fiqh of abu hanifa

You need to study & follow the ''Sahi'' Hadith. No Sahi hadith is wrong and no Sahi hadith is in fonflict with the Quran or another Sahi hadith.

@IslamAndAbbasin brother all 4 imaams proved what they followed from the quran and sunnah and the difference between them is due to interpretation. like i mentioned many a time a word in the quran has many meanings. You may not call your self salafi, wahabi or ehl hadith but many people do ascribe themselves to these groups. Everyone does taqleed at the end of the day some with bin baaz, others with the masters of hadith like abu hanifa etc.

The prophet s.a.w salat was recorded the way sahaba's saw him pray but the hadiths vary on how he prayed. Now the salafis pick their own hadith as to how one should pray and so did the four imaams with proof who were more knowledgeable the four imaams or bin baaz or someone who gets a degree from the university of medina?. obviously the four imaams

@IslamAndAbbasin ive already elucidated that the difference between the 4 imaams is a matter of interpretation not a confliction between them because one word of the quran can have many meanings.
for e.g. if i asked three people what does the word date mean? and one replied a numbered day in a month and the second replied a particular year and the third replied a month and a year. that doesnt mean only one can be correct and the other 2 are wrong. in fact all three are correct.

How can doing rafadain & not doing rafadain be right at the same time. If husband says triple talaq in 1 sitting,then wife is haram,according to Hanafis,but the same wife is halal according to other madhabs.Forced divorce is valid according to Hanafis but not valid according to other 3 maslaks.In fact Imam Malik (rah) was brutally beaten & humiliated by the Khalifa for not accepting forcd divorce.But Hanafis will go with forcd divorce decree no matter it contradicts Hadiths.

You are not a mujtaahid imaam. Therefore it is not your duty to try to infer rulings from the qur'aan and sunnah. There is a hadeeth that the `ulamaa are the inheritors of the prophets. So why do you not follow this hadeeth then? If you followed this hadeeth then you would be following an unbroken chain of scholars in the same manner in which the companions followed the prophet - peace be upon him. Wallahi the deviated sects did not appear except as a result of what you promote!
The prophet عليه الصلاة و السلام said (translation, of course) "Whosoever interprets the qur'aan based on his own opinions and is correct has gone astray, and whosoever interprets the qur'aan based on his own opinions and is incorrect then let him prepare for his seat in the fire (of hell)"
and,
"Whosoever lies upon me then let him prepare for his seat in the fire of hell"...
So... do you think abu haneefah, maalik, and so on are in the fire and you are in jannah?

Aslaamu alaykum sis/bros you know what i noticed this crusade between (hanefees n salafees) is that hanafees always reference the great Imaam hanefa and never the quraan and sunah. Whereas the people who follow the salaf always reference the quraan and the sunnah as their main objective whilst repsecting the imaam hanefa and others maliki etc. This simply demonstrates the priorities of these two groups and we all know deep down that prophet, sunnah and quraan is our main guidance.
Jazakumullahu khayran for your intentions, which i am sure were good, but i do not need lectures on this topic from the astray sect that refer to themselves as "salafi". There are plenty of excellent talks on this topic and many more topics concerning the ummah by highly reputed hanafi scholars, and i am happy and content that they deliver sound and truthful lectures too. Often, their lectures are far more detailed and eye opening than the najdi scholars anyway. Was-salaam.

Follow a madhab if u do not have the knowledge to look at the evidence urself (note:not internet scholars), but if u find out something is not compatible with the sunnah, hadith and quran, then u are obligated to leave that.

They do this by creating baseless doubts and confused fears about scholars of the past, and then offer their solution which is the vaguely label as "Quran and Sunnah", which in itself is good, but the way the use it is simply a deception to lure people to their way.

I have found that so many people seem to be unaware that muhammad ibn `abd-ul-wahhaab and muhammad ibn sa`ud were the secularist founders of secularism in al-hijaaz. Their dictatorial family lineages still to this day, known as `aal ush-shaykh and the sa`ud monarchy, keep to their separate duties of the secular state - one family keeping control over the religious affairs, the other family keeping control over the political affairs, hence the civil law courts there!!!

@ismail4137 Indeed I have read it. It is cornerstone of Modern Islam: knowledge not taken through Isnad, but through direct self-study. Isn't this how the secular education is operated? People study the books on their own, and interpret and conclude for theirselves? Neo-salafism is a fitna, as it syncs with the western muslim mind, who is accustomed to self-study, rather than taking knowledge from a person. This is why Salafism is spreading most amongst the youth, particularly in universities.
In the end the Salafi methodology is an innovation. And I say this because scholars have said it. Choosing from "strongest" positions of the madhabs would require one to be a mujtahid mutlaq themselves, and to have a vast amount of knowledge in the requisite. There are no unanimously agreed upon Mujtahids living today, nor any scholar close to the requirements to do such Ijtihad.
I was a salafi last year! The salafi sect is against taqleed / blind following but we follow blindly Ibn Tamiya, ALbani, abdul wahab etc when they have huge errors in thier Quran and sunnah interpretaion!
we salafis never said it is haram to follow a madhab, we say it is haram to follow your madhab when it contradict the statement or the action of the messenger of Allah, we follow the body of the salaf which include the 4 imams.
which ever imam has the strongest proof in any issue that what we follow. we dont blind follow the opinion of a prticular imam, even though the other imam has the clear cut proof from the book or the sunnah.
@akhysalafy This issue brother, is there are many hadith statements on a particular issues, which will say different things, and can be interpreted in several ways. That is, the meanings are not decisive, but probable. One needs a methodology, and fiqh, to determine which position is the most sound. Every Madhab, and even our Salafi brether, will have hadiths which do not support their stance. The difference is, with madhabs both the supporting and non-supporting hadiths have been addressed.
Asalamualaikum brother, Muslims should follow al quran and the authentic hadiths such as as Siha sittah. Alongside this if you need more support then I believe inshallah you can get advice from the four aemmah or from some trustworthy scholars. I believe it isn't nesessary to stick to one imam probably you find a better advice about one thing to another imam. And you can never say one imam is better than the other one. Brother may Allah guide you do not preach fitnah.

I'm amazed at how much division differences in opinion can cause.
Fiqh deals with actions and we should seek to perfect them. But if we're so hell bent on battering our opponents in debate over physical acts, where does that leave time for the more important internal spiritual development?
It's interesting to see how the fiqh, which relates to the behaviour aspect of Islam, is given importance above all else and how that is reflected in secular academics with the dominance of empiricism.

The 4 imaams and their students checked hadith thoroughly and took out hadiths that were authentic. @IslamAndAbbasin No one follows the complete quran directly because sometimes one word in the quran can have 10 different meanings. So we study it through someone who specialises in the field i.e. one of the 4 imaams. Also we dont follow a hadith just because it is a hadith because sometimes that hadith has been cancelled by another hadith or there are more authentic hadith that conflict with that. Also we dont call ourselves hanafi etc we call ourselves muslims who follow the fiqh of abu hanifa

You may not call your self salafi, wahabi or ehl hadith but many people do ascribe themselves to these groups. Everyone does taqleed at the end of the day some with bin baaz, others with the masters of hadith like abu hanifa etc.

There can only be one way of performing wudu & praying. You can't say bot are right.
You can't say i still can pray this way, because the imam just had another interpretation
Even if the difference is due to interpretation you need to choose the right one and you do that by comparing the hadith.

The prophet s.a.w salat was recorded the way sahaba's saw him pray but the hadiths vary on how he prayed. Now the salafis pick their own hadith as to how one should pray and so did the four imaams with proof who were more knowledgeable the four imaams or bin baaz or someone who gets a degree from the university of medina?. obviously the four imaams

for e.g. if i asked three people what does the word date mean? and one replied a numbered day in a month and the second replied a particular year and the third replied a month and a year. that doesnt mean only one can be correct and the other 2 are wrong. in fact all three are correct.

How can doing rafadain & not doing rafadain be right at the same time. If husband says triple talaq in 1 sitting,then wife is haram,according to Hanafis,but the same wife is halal according to other madhabs.Forced divorce is valid according to Hanafis but not valid according to other 3 maslaks.In fact Imam Malik (rah) was brutally beaten & humiliated by the Khalifa for not accepting forcd divorce.But Hanafis will go with forcd divorce decree no matter it contradicts Hadiths.

You are not a mujtaahid imaam. Therefore it is not your duty to try to infer rulings from the qur'aan and sunnah. There is a hadeeth that the `ulamaa are the inheritors of the prophets. So why do you not follow this hadeeth then? If you followed this hadeeth then you would be following an unbroken chain of scholars in the same manner in which the companions followed the prophet - peace be upon him. Wallahi the deviated sects did not appear except as a result of what you promote!

Aslaamu alaykum sis/bros you know what i noticed this crusade between (hanefees n salafees) is that hanafees always reference the great Imaam hanefa and never the quraan and sunah. Whereas the people who follow the salaf always reference the quraan and the sunnah as their main objective whilst repsecting the imaam hanefa and others maliki etc. This simply demonstrates the priorities of these two groups and we all know deep down that prophet, sunnah and quraan is our main guidance.

Jazakumullahu khayran for your intentions, which i am sure were good, but i do not need lectures on this topic from the astray sect that refer to themselves as "salafi". There are plenty of excellent talks on this topic and many more topics concerning the ummah by highly reputed hanafi scholars, and i am happy and content that they deliver sound and truthful lectures too. Often, their lectures are far more detailed and eye opening than the najdi scholars anyway. Was-salaam.

Follow a madhab if u do not have the knowledge to look at the evidence urself (note:not internet scholars), but if u find out something is not compatible with the sunnah, hadith and quran, then u are obligated to leave that.

Please also note the method of the neo-Salafis has been refuted many times, one seminal example is the debate between Albani and Shaykh Sa'id al-Buti, where the latter concluded that there could be no reconciliation between the the Salafis and the Sunnis, because there is no "common ground."

They are an orientalist-inspired reformist group, which tries to estrange the Ummah from their scholarly tradition. They do this by creating baseless doubts and confused fears about scholars of the past, and then offer their solution which is the vaguely label as "Quran and Sunnah", which in itself is good, but the way the use it is simply a deception to lure people to their way.

I have found that so many people seem to be unaware that muhammad ibn `abd-ul-wahhaab and muhammad ibn sa`ud were the secularist founders of secularism in al-hijaaz. Their dictatorial family lineages still to this day, known as `aal ush-shaykh and the sa`ud monarchy, keep to their separate duties of the secular state - one family keeping control over the religious affairs, the other family keeping control over the political affairs, hence the civil law courts there!!!

@ismail4137 Indeed I have read it. It is cornerstone of Modern Islam: knowledge not taken through Isnad, but through direct self-study. Isn't this how the secular education is operated? People study the books on their own, and interpret and conclude for theirselves? Neo-salafism is a fitna, as it syncs with the western muslim mind, who is accustomed to self-study, rather than taking knowledge from a person. This is why Salafism is spreading most amongst the youth, particularly in universities.

In the end the Salafi methodology is an innovation. And I say this because scholars have said it. Choosing from "strongest" positions of the madhabs would require one to be a mujtahid mutlaq themselves, and to have a vast amount of knowledge in the requisite. There are no unanimously agreed upon Mujtahids living today, nor any scholar close to the requirements to do such Ijtihad.

we salafis never said it is haram to follow a madhab, we say it is haram to follow your madhab when it contradict the statement or the action of the messenger of Allah, we follow the body of the salaf which include the 4 imams.
which ever imam has the strongest proof in any issue that what we follow. we dont blind follow the opinion of a prticular imam, even though the other imam has the clear cut proof from the book or the sunnah.

@akhysalafy This issue brother, is there are many hadith statements on a particular issues, which will say different things, and can be interpreted in several ways. That is, the meanings are not decisive, but probable. One needs a methodology, and fiqh, to determine which position is the most sound. Every Madhab, and even our Salafi brether, will have hadiths which do not support their stance. The difference is, with madhabs both the supporting and non-supporting hadiths have been addressed.
