Great tutorial very clear,

Could you tell me after I have created a mask using the pen tool.

Right what I'm doing is cutting someones head from a picture using the pen tool, and layering this over another head in a movie clip.

The problem I have is that the cut head image(mask) always has jagged lines, it's not smooth, is there a way to erase the edges of the selection to smooth out the edges around the selection.

What if the object you want to track starts off-screen and ends off screen?

@LostandFoundTravel You start tracking as soon as it's onscreen and stop tracking once it's off again. After that you either create the motion of what was supposed to be controlled automatically manually or you start tracking a different area.

@egaag i had the same thing. so in top right corner where it says work space click on the drop box. it should have a list of things like effects animation text. and then where you see motion tracking click that. now you have a panel that lists all the tracking controls.

For those who had the same problem as I did, not finding the tracker control tab, you have to change your workspace to Motion Tracking, its in the top right corner. Btw great tutorial helped a lot!!

people having trouble with keeping the tracking, well tracking. Make the bigger box bigger. Judge how much your tracked point will move by over the next few seconds and then make the larger box (outside box if you like) bigger, as it will search in this area. If your object is out of the search area i think it loses it. I've played around with changing the size of this box and it works wonders, but you cant just stretch the box really big as it takes FOREVER to track, like 1 minute to 1 frame :S
