America is the new Rome. His leadership would have been accepted anywhere else accept here. This country is ran by idiots and idiots live in this place. wouldn't shock me at all. so sad.
Does anyone else think it's time to stop electing presidents and try something else? I mean it's 2011... we've been electing presidents for hundreds of years now... how much have they actually accomplished? There's still slavery, war, crime, poverty... What the hell could they be working on that could possibly be more important than solving those problems?
Just to let all liberals know that when you realize how hypocritical you are, also take this sobering time to reflect and call conservatives hypocrites too. Obama simply continues Bush epic fail policies yet conservatives cry 'we want our country back'. What are these people talking about? If Ron Paul was President, none of this shit would be happening. He has more momentum now and a fair chance. Anyone other than him and we deserve any bullshit that happens next.
I hate liars, no matter what side of the fence they stand on. And liar who is an total idiot is even worse. How can we fund medicare and the obama care with the same money? Idiots. How come these bills are being passed without having time to read and analyze them! "We have to pass the bill so we can find out what's in it"...a complete idiot supports an idiot liar. Need I go on!
...and while we all bicker over meaningless policies from flashy figure-heads based on mis-information spun by corrupt media, the real crooks keep printing the money which enslaves us all. Democrat vs republican, Christian vs Muslim... how about human beings vs global banking?
@spunkloaf Your pathetic...you try so hard to embarrass me. That's all you have. You state no facts, and make no points. Learn how to read douche bag.
@spunkloaf You've debunked nothing. You make some nonsensical accusation of sensationalism, while I have made a FACTUAL argument. I say again...you are a douche bag. You are not the creative material used to create life...you are the waste...the flotsam...the sewage water form your dirty mother's uterus. Understand me now?
@spunkloaf What a fucking joke..you are an idiot. Barak Obama is a war criminal and a liar. He just re-authorized the Patriot Act, has all the wars he promised to stop raging out of control, gave trillions of tax payer dollars to rich bankers, signed the indefinate detention executive order, what else to u need you dumb fuck? Yeah we have to stop the GOP from doing the same shit right..? THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE YOU FOOL!! Typical dumbed down television watcher..thats all you are.
@spunkloaf That's a tough one. I think 'generally' the Republicans are more trustworthy and ALWAYS have the better ideas. But they are politicians. Next to the dems, almost anyone could look good. The dems are historically proven to be anti-American thieves. They stood in the way of the civil rights act. They introduced us to segregation. Their taxes and over regulation chase businesses overseas. These are undeniable facts, regardless of what people would have you believe.
So, while it may seem complex. There is really nothing wrong with what they did, and they did technically pay back a portion of their loan, with interest, ahead of time.
11+44 = 55. Therefore, the GM deal, at this point, is profiting. In fact, it is in both our interest and GMs to payback the loan (it had a 7% interest rate). We still have 60% (give or take equity). They saw another loan on the table for 2% interest long term, they couldn't stop the sunk cost of that short term 7% interest, but they could repay it, and effect margins in the future.
Therefore, their company is healthier, and has a higher chance to profit. It generates some positive publicity too
After interest I owe 55. It only takes 30 to get to work, I have 20 left over. I know I will be getting paid in a week, so I take 11 of that 20, and pay him back (for whatever reason) early, and now owe 44. I have 9 in my pocket. I get paid again, and repay the final 44 USD.
The net result? I had three accounts, plus an outgoing accounts payable. My operating expenses were met, therefore, I paid off my accounts payable early. I borrowed 50, and in the end, still paid off 55.
And yet another thing. The GM loan repaid. And yes, I'll admit, this part is very hairy for the layman to understand.
"They are taking money that they borrowed, from an escrow account, to pay another loan we made them?"
Its understandable, that folks can be confused. Lets say I borrow 50 USD from my pops for the month for petrol to get me to and from work. He splits it into three piles, 20, 20, and 10. He charges me 10% interest. I use 30 of it to get to work, 20 is set aside. I owe 50.
Its funny how deceptive the 'truth' is, sometimes. Stop the video at 19 seconds. This chart shows how we easily tripled national spending...but wait. No we didn't. A quick check to the numbers of the left show that the numbers are percentage of the GDP (not trillions of dollars), and more importantly, the chart makes it seem like we tripled or quadrupled spending.
In reality, if the whole graph were shown, you would show an 8 percentage-point increase, out of 27.
@megadethmofo: That's ridiculous - he's running for President, not trying out for Astronaut.
He has all the characteristics of a older person who isn't as affected by age as are many others: He eats healthy, sober, happily married, spiritual and he works out. He's more active than any one of us commenting on this video. If something happens to him, his VP can take over. We need to debate serious qualifications, not age. Totally ridiculous.
@megadethmofo: You're just silly. You called him a nut instead of engaging details or ideas, at least.
Anyone can do what you do - if someone doesn't agree with you, you know what? - just call them a 'kook', 'nut', etc. It's intellectually lazy and always a desperate resort for those unwilling to engage in actual debate. Cop out of the debate. Go home brave one, unless you have something intelligent to back up your ignorant comments.
@Deadwind002 dude, what do you want from me? there's about a thousand other things i'd rather discuss politically than Ron Paul! Like, for instance, if a sock puppet wins the GOP primary and runs against Obama in 2012, i'm voting for the sock puppet! Anyone, and i mean ANYONE would be better than Obama. Maybe even (gulp) Ron Paul. was that better?
The people have spoken loudly!! This liar and Chief is soon going to be impotent with the new wave of elected in January!! The Democrats are starting to squirm I hear it in the arguments they make towards each other and they're disdain for the voters. Bill Clinton had to bail big O out at the last press conference so he could get to his Christmas party on time. A democrat senator lambasted him with expletives.
Wonder how all those assholes who repeated " yes we can " like blind rats following the pied piper feel now? Seriously, if this was you, your stupidity is now confirmed.
You made a valid point: "Feel" instead of "think". Had those people done their homework and/or not allow complexion trump the truth or substance, we wouldn't have that Marxist as a president now. It is my contention many of them would have voted for Obama even if it was proven he was Satan in the flesh. Thank God many are waking up with buyer's remorse and are willing to take their civic duty seriously next time.
We can't afford 2 more years of BO. Reason.tv should be Treason.tv and list reasons Obama should be tried for treason. Than put Clinton in, he's in anyway. If VP BiteMe can shut his hole, the next 2 years may be tolerable. If Obama isn't forced out, we're done.
@jazzfusionary , Not necessarily...You see, prayer still changes things and, whether Obama likes it or not, this nation is CHRISTIAN!!
If we all begin praying to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - the very One, Obama doesn't seem to think exists - we can show him Who really is in charge around here and the nation will be rescued from the pit Obama, apparently, wants to cast us into!!
Obama is a LIAR and that is all to be said. The only winner in the GM deal was the AUW Union. If Americans are really serious about punishing GM and the Union that just raped the American people then you MUST boycott GM. NEVER, NEVER buy a GM car. There are plenty of great cars out there to chose from without even considering GM. So put your money where your mouth is...BOYCOTT GM and spread the word.
BO is a loser - face it...he has NO idea what he's doing. Turning over his leadership to Clinton yesterday was unprecedented NEVER before in our country has this happened!!! He is WEAK WEAK WEAK get rid of him for good
This was supposed to be related to Mythbusters the show. I have watched the show off and on for years and the speaker has never been related as far as I can recall. So who is lying?
Interesting how he had to trot out Bill Clinton yesterday, then stood aside like a sheep. Of course the Christmas party was more important than what's happening in the country! He could never have conducted a news conference like Clinton did yesterday. Without his teleprompter and his list of journalists to pick, he is lost. I question whether he actually understands what the negotiations were, what the details and implications will be.
@SixCards54 , You may be right. However, there is no valley so deep, no mountain so high nor pain so great that God cannot overcome it.
Now is the time for Americans to wake up and start praying. Prayer is the only thing that can prevent Obama's plan to destroy America and we, God's people, must do the praying or else God isn't going to do a thing!!
@spunkloaf Your name appears to be a perfect fit. Do any of the staff at the place you are being kept realize you've gotten access to a computer? It's very irresponsible to allow you to annoy others.
@spunkloaf Drink some more of that Obama Kool-Aid cause it will kill you just like the Jim Jones Kool-Aid did to his followers. You can't handle it when somebody puts facts in front of you. Obama is a lying scumbag. Admit it and help us impeach the fool.
"We have to pass this "bill" so you can find out what's in it" says Pelosi! His "brown-shirts" smiled...as Obama did. Stimulus...Just as bad.Who read these "bills"...HUH!?! Socialism and Communism were NEVER be a part of our government. I beleive in helping others that can't help themselves...Therefore (I beleive) some socialist programs are good, but the government CANNOT run them. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. ~Big government was never intended to exist.-tHOMAS jEFFERSON
Yes, the shiny veneer is flaking off the plastic Obama. Nobody deserves it more. He is a fraud and a vicious liar. His wet diaper moment at the press conference following the Tax compromise deal was just a jewel to behold!
@averagejoe040 What about that wet diaper moment at today's press conference when he left Bill Clinton to answer questions because Moochelle was waiting for him?
After all those facts, he goes on to assert that Dems got whooped "because Democratic policies were unpopular with voters". Uh... that's called speculation and it's mostly wrong. Many progressives (myself included) stayed home or voted for write-ins because Obama did nothing to pursue the Democratic ideals he pledged to; primarily a public-run insurance option. The Republicans were never going to vote for him anyway. But he got destroyed by losing progressives and independents!
Your other examples are equally stupid. By your numbers we spent $40B on GM and recovered $36B of that in the IPO (that's over 90%). When you're recovering 90% of your investment it is completely fair to say we were "on track" to recovering our money.
If the rest of the shares sell at current price, we'll only have spent ~$2B saving the auto industry. That's less than what we spend on the Bureau of Indian Affairs every year.
This is ridiculous -- you guys call things busted that aren't even false. Look at the graph, the 2013 deficit is half of the current deficit. That's what he said, and that's true. I will grant that in context it looks like "whoop-de-fing-doo," but this is not "busted."
An example of "busted" would be a graph that shows 2013 deficits on the same level as the current deficit.
I object to the use of politicians saying "we". I don't vote for someone unless they are for radically minimizing govt, and so I'm not liable for any of the debt incurred by these people that lump us together as the "we" who is in debt. We live in the same general geographic area of the planet, but it is YOU who vote for big govt candidates, not ME, who is in debt to others. It is YOUR big govt policies that YOU need to pay for, not I.
Excellent video. We can use it to refute all the pro Obama supporters. Btw, is that black leather jacked glued to him? He wears it every the time. It must be really stinky by now.
Nice knowing him?A man who has domestic terrorists for friends,a racist for a pastor of his church?A man who no 1 knows for sure,if he was born in this country,a man that, even though his mother was white, resents white people?A man who believes in wealth distribution on the backs of hard working Americans?A president that spends more time playing golf then working on our problems here in America?A President who toured the world, apologizing to everyone for what America stands for?Nice knowing You?
@demmylowther - Because of Obama, the world might actually start to like the U.S. again. He is giving them a light of hope that not all is lost in our country. Stop watching Fox News if you want real facts. If you would rather live in a dream world, then keep watching and absorbing their stupidity. Do you even know what wealth distribution means? I doubt you are a multi-millionaire, so quit bitching that someone will take your money, you probably don't have shit to take anyways.
@utginoxd3 You are extremely naive to believe that it will only be forced on the rich. That's the same lame duck excuse they used to pitch the income tax.It was only going to be a few percent and only on the rich.
@dirtbagstatus - We all pay taxes no matter what, but by the way taxes are broken down, the rich get a bigger break than the average Joe. I don't care if I have to pay a little more, as long as the people with money stop getting breaks Im happy, we are in debt, you do understand that, any influx of income is good enough for me. I'd rather suffer together, than summer alone.
@dirtbagstatus That's the problem with "liberals". It's class warfare and rather than build up everyone through free enterprise, it's bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator; in the case of leftists that is equality of poverty.
@KungFuKing1916 YES. GM for example...if they didn't have the union and the dems unnecessary taxes and regulations weighing them down...they would turn a profit...make more cars design new cars, and thus, hire new folks to build them. That's how it works.
@KungFuKing1916 If it did not have the bullshit on it's back, and could run properly, according to it's supply chain, and demand for product, it would have a great chance to create many many jobs. How can it, when it has the demands of a union, costing he company far more than it makes. No great mystery, when unions come to town, jobs leave. Look at Pittsburgh/steel. Detroit/automobiles. Both industries smashed under union weight. Detroit has one of the highest unemployment rates on Earth
@utginoxd3 obama hasnt repealed the patriot act like he said he would. obama sent more troops to afghanistan. you sir suffer from "fan syndrome". the same thing the jury in the oj simpson case had. wake up dude. republican = democrat. i see no difference in the way the country has been headed from clinton to bush to obama its all the same agenda
@TheOnlyexisting - At least I agree with you on the Republican = Democrat, they are both evil. But faced with a choice, I choose the less evil one, which for me is the Democrats. I really hope the Green party uses this recession and chaos in government to their advantage so that they can advance on the political spectrum. Also, Obama has to keep going with the wars, Bush started the ball rolling, its not that easy to stop it at an instant.
In response to all the responses: When are you idiots going to learn the difference between affect and effect, affect and impact, lend and loan (only a few of the grammatical errors posted)? The profanity also adds NOTHING to the clarity of statements.
@saper321 You may disagree with Liberal policies, and thats fine - but Obama is an Eisenhower Republican. The Healthcare bill for example was proposed by Bob Dole for Pete's sake. It was watered down as much as possible. But even beyond that, wouldn't a Socialist change policy towards Cuba (no change), try to create work programs (he hasn't), refuses to issue an executive order to repeal DADT, didn't use leverage to re-tool GM, funds Wall Street, etc...The view that he's Left of center is dumb.
@Zakdayak Racial Marxists, like Obama use race and gender as proxies for the victimization class to promote economic envy, class warfare and racial hatred in order to facilitate their progressive redistribution schemes.
Because oppressed Jews do well economically and are relatively well educated, their vicious "racial Marxist" dogma has been proven to be as false. If oppressed Jews (history's most oppressed) don’t need affirmative action, then their entire racial Marxist ideology is false.
Marxism can be summed up in only a couple of phrases, "class struggle" and "victims vs. oppressors." Obama is clearly not interested in the ideas of Milton Friedman and Adam Smith.
However, racial Marxists, like Obama, use race and gender as proxies for the victimization class to promote economic envy, class warfare and racial hatred in order to facilitate their progressive redistribution schemes.
Obama’s proposed economy is a hybrid fascist / socialist state.
Government Healthcare was rammed down our throats! Nothing can make this form of treason palatable. It is time that all liberty-loving American move to take the U.S. Constitution away from Obama’s bathroom stall’s toilet tissue dispenser and respectfully return to abiding by its eternal wisdom. We cannot ever accept this form of Government tyranny under the guise of social justice. My Civil rights are not negotiable!
@islandmuffin - If you think the Health care reform was shoved down our throats, what do you think about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq? Just so you know, its Bush that really put this country into debt, it's so sad that Republican supporters have such small brains, that rarely remember what happened more than 2 years ago. Obama is trying to fix the shit that Bush created. Oh yeah, do you know what the Patriot Act is, I hope you do since you are whining about your Civil Rights.
@utginoxd3 Do you even pay attention you git? Obama ran with The Patriot Act, he's continuing the war in the Middle East, and "rendition" of prisoners of war. He's Bush 2.0. Period.
And if you really think the new taxes are going to effect just the rich? Sorry you fell for it. Even if it did, that's just going to create class warfare.
@FiveofHearts1 - He ran with the Patriot Act because it isn't a priority for him to repel it, he isn't the one that signed it into action. The reason we are still in the wars is because the U.S. can't suddenly pull out. They went there and destroyed the infrastructure and erased all authority, it would look bad if we just left it like that. He did close Guantanamo right?...or am I wrong? I never said they are going to affect only the rich, but they get a bigger break from them
@utginoxd3 NO. He voted FOR the Patriot Act, and made it more invasive. He was backing that invasion on our liberties. He's also stood beside the shame that is the whole TSA debacle. For civil liberties? Obama is actually WORSE than Bush. He pulled troops out of Iraq to stick them in Afghanistan, and he really didn't close Guantanamo.
@islandmuffin You don't know anything about Marx. In anycase its not really important, just because you state the obvious - that the rich are getting richer, that they are outsourcing, investing in China, created financial derivatives, and now take home 24% of yearly income (top 1% that is while wages are stagnant mind you) - doesn't mean you favor, say, dictatorship of the proletariat.
You seem to have no problem with a "redistribution scheme" when its the other way round.
@N0CR3AT0R That's where the weak and feeble minded came in. The voted for Hope & Change (TM) with no clear answer on what that meant. It was more an anti Bush vote than it was a pro Obama vote.
As for me, I did my research. There was NOTHING in that mans background to suggest the 'change'(TM) he was espousing was going to be for the good.
@verstwo2 Yeah, the right wing is known for it's support of gay rights, ending drug prohibition, stopping war, and opening our borders. Wait they're not? So maybe Reason isn't right wing just because they don't support some the idiocy of the left.
@verstwo2 No, A libertarian is not right wing at the least, it's a classic liberal for the most part, total freedom from overbearing government, as well as being liberal on most social issues.
The problem is that whacko leftists try to consider their views normal, indoctrinate people into believing it's the "Center" and call anyone who does not drink the kool-aid a radical right winger.
@jkessler410 - "Wacko Leftists" lol. The US is far Left? lol.
Modern Right wing Libertarianism has it's roots in classical Liberalism as do the vast majority of western ideologies. It's unconditional, unapologetic and often unqualified support of all big business. Putting absolute authority in the "invisible hand' of the Market. And the reverse is true of it's anti-government stance. Demonizing and undercutting the ONLY institution that is suppose to represent the public interest.
@verstwo2 Never said the US is far left, our colleges and media are and portray anything to the right of Marxism as "Radical". LOL at the government representing the public interest, guess taking all of our money and handing it over to the banks that screwed us all over was in our interest? Demonizing business is MORONIC, Government kills the economy and destroys wealth. Do you think political self interest is more noble than financial self interest?
@jkessler410 - There are so many strawmen, non-sequitors, and straight out fabrications in your response I don't know where to begin. How you can believe the media are cheerleaders for socialism is beyond me (did you miss the 24/7 coverage of the teabaggers?). If you actually read my post (instead of projecting your own prejudices onto me) you would have read that government is the ONLY institution that is SUPPOSE to represent the public interest (not that it always does).
@verstwo2 "government is the ONLY institution that is SUPPOSE to represent the public interest" If you were not a left-winger you would believe that to be the individuals and the markets created by them to be the public interest.
"You assume I must be a right or left winger simply because I disagree with you." I think it's clear by the prior statement that you are extremely left-wing. The extreme right being anarchy, you believe in the moral authority of others over yourself
@verstwo2 Can you please gather together all of the other morons who think like you and have a debate with all the Neo-cons who complain about Libertarians being liberals? Please? I'm tired of you left and right wingers.
@Megabyxos - Way to deflect criticism with name calling, classy, I would expect no less. Neo-cons have been wrapping themselves in Libertarian clothing for decades and you guys eat it up. You ally yourselves with religious fundamentalists, white supremacists and corporate greed all in the name of freedom.
Again, more projections of prejudice. You assume I must be a right or left winger simply because I disagree with you. That's a good way to immunize yourself against all dissent. bravo!
@verstwo2 Quite the opposite. I recall your criticism of the libertarians being entirely that they were conservative. Ignoring for the moment that you were thereby using an ad hominem logical fallacy, would it not seem expedient for me to make the distinction that libertarians are not right wing? I don't give a rats' ass what wing you are, or for that manner, what wing you think the libertarians are, but in so far as you have not put forth any real criticism, there was little else to respond to.
@verstwo2 Furthermore, your allegations of libertarians supporting religious fundamentalist, white supremacists, tebaggers, and other such accusations, aside from being a logical fallacy, are laughably incorrect. Libertarianism is in direct opposition to white supremacy, is composed of high numbers of atheists, and is dedicated to the principles of freedom. In some intances that puts them on the same side as tea partiers and the right, and other times with liberals; you have no case.
@Megabyxos - Ron and Rand Paul are quite comfortable in the GOP, and so are all those other groups. The ideology of Right wing Libertarianism says nothing about racism, if your are against it it must be for other reasons. Ron Paul claims to have started the teabag movement, Rand Paul is certainly a member. The difference between Libertarianism and Liberalism is the difference between Keynesian and Austrian economics. With witch you have common cause with the groups I mentioned (and others).
@verstwo2 Right, common cause. We also have common cause with Liberals on gay rights, decriminalization of drugs, and immigration. Libertarians don't give a shit about any party lines or other such semantics, only principles.
@Megabyxos - Common cause? Or blind ideology? You realize why some of these groups want the 'government off their back'? So that they can be free to practice their form of 'oppression'. The problem with modern Right Wing Libertarianism is that if views all government as inherently bad and all private interest as inherently good. This is a dogma I reject. It's great to support freedoms, I do too, but not at the expense of rights and justice.
@EnochEmery251 Check out Reason's other videos and articles. Not all of Reason's contributors agree on everything, but the general consensus is not very optimistic about the Republicans doing much better.
@Megabyxos They are Libertarian Party it seems to me. It's silly to me because it's an anti-government political party. I like ReasonTV, my criticism is that they are political or politically-inclined.
@EnochEmery251 They do definitely lean strongly toward the Libertarian Party, though they also try to steer Republicans, Democrats, and everyone else in the right direction, instead of unrealistically hoping the Libertarian Party will ever gain much influence. I'm not sure what you mean by your criticism. Of course they have a political viewpoint; they are political analysts and commentators. Every journalist has a viewpoint, and it's possible to advocate that and be fair at the same time.
@nicademus1974 Very much easy, Latin America's gradual move to the Left is a good example. The so called "true free market" was short lived, as soon as it was discovered that you could increase your profit by exploiting your workers virus Capitalism emerged.
@N0CR3AT0R virus capitalism, you mean state managed economies with the label capitalism thrown in. Ie a political economy where there is no free market but big business big labor and big government collusion.
@N0CR3AT0R That wasn't/isn't even close to a free market, there was government intervention everywhere. The only thing that is even close to a free market is the black market, and even that is effected by regulations and laws.
@nicademus1974 yes, and even the black market exploits people for example do you believe that child prostitution in the black market is "free market".
@N0CR3AT0R no because both prostitution and having sex with kids are both illegal, IE regulated. There isn't anything free market about it. People are going to exploit other people regardless of what "system" is in place. I just would opt for the system where people are held accountable and can't hide under the shield of government and become unaccountable.
Sick of people talking about the deficit. Who the fuck cares? There's more debt than actual existing money. You can't get out of debt in a system when you can borrow more money than there is in the current system, and expect to pay it back with more non-existent money.
I loan you $1 at the interest of $0.10. You can't pay it if there was only that $1 in existence.
Rutzen21 - Disliking Obama does not equal liking Bush. Maybe you're an idiot? I bet you're actually just a fool and incapable of applying logic.

BigMPChris 1 year ago

He's more active than any one of us commenting on this video. If something happens to him, his VP can take over. We need to debate serious qualifications, not age. Totally ridiculous.

Cop out of the debate. Go home brave one, unless you have something intelligent to back up your ignorant comments.

But he got destroyed by losing progressives and independents!
dookdawg214 1 year ago
Your other examples are equally stupid. By your numbers we spent $40B on GM and recovered $36B of that in the IPO (that's over 90%). When you're recovering 90% of your investment it is completely fair to say we were "on track" to recovering our money.
If the rest of the shares sell at current price, we'll only have spent ~$2B saving the auto industry. That's less than what we spend on the Bureau of Indian Affairs every year.

Zakdayak 1 year ago
@Zakdayak Racial Marxists, like Obama use race and gender as proxies for the victimization class to promote economic envy, class warfare and racial hatred in order to facilitate their progressive redistribution schemes.
Because oppressed Jews do well economically and are relatively well educated, their vicious "racial Marxist" dogma has been proven to be as false. If oppressed Jews (history's most oppressed) don’t need affirmative action, then their entire racial Marxist ideology is false.
islandmuffin 1 year ago

My Civil rights are not negotiable!
islandmuffin 1 year ago
@islandmuffin - If you think the Health care reform was shoved down our throats, what do you think about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq? Just so you know, its Bush that really put this country into debt, it's so sad that Republican supporters have such small brains, that rarely remember what happened more than 2 years ago. Obama is trying to fix the shit that Bush created. Oh yeah, do you know what the Patriot Act is, I hope you do since you are whining about your Civil Rights.

FiveofHearts1 1 year ago

@islandmuffin You don't know anything about Marx. In anycase its not really important, just because you state the obvious - that the rich are getting richer, that they are outsourcing, investing in China, created financial derivatives, and now take home 24% of yearly income (top 1% that is while wages are stagnant mind you) - doesn't mean you favor, say, dictatorship of the proletariat.

smudboy 1 year ago
@jkessler410 - "Wacko Leftists" lol. The US is far Left? lol.
Modern Right wing Libertarianism has it's roots in classical Liberalism as do the vast majority of western ideologies. It's unconditional, unapologetic and often unqualified support of all big business. Putting absolute authority in the "invisible hand' of the Market. And the reverse is true of it's anti-government stance. Demonizing and undercutting the ONLY institution that is suppose to represent the public interest.
verstwo2 1 year ago
@verstwo2 Never said the US is far left, our colleges and media are and portray anything to the right of Marxism as "Radical". LOL at the government representing the public interest, guess taking all of our money and handing it over to the banks that screwed us all over was in our interest? Demonizing business is MORONIC, Government kills the economy and destroys wealth. Do you think political self interest is more noble than financial self interest?
jkessler410 1 year ago
@jkessler410 - There are so many strawmen, non-sequitors, and straight out fabrications in your response I don't know where to begin. How you can believe the media are cheerleaders for socialism is beyond me (did you miss the 24/7 coverage of the teabaggers?). If you actually read my post (instead of projecting your own prejudices onto me) you would have read that government is the ONLY institution that is SUPPOSE to represent the public interest (not that it always does).
verstwo2 1 year ago
@verstwo2 "government is the ONLY institution that is SUPPOSE to represent the public interest" If you were not a left-winger you would believe that to be the individuals and the markets created by them to be the public interest.
"You assume I must be a right or left winger simply because I disagree with you." I think it's clear by the prior statement that you are extremely left-wing. The extreme right being anarchy, you believe in the moral authority of others over yourself

Megabyxos 1 year ago
@Megabyxos - Way to deflect criticism with name calling, classy, I would expect no less. Neo-cons have been wrapping themselves in Libertarian clothing for decades and you guys eat it up. You ally yourselves with religious fundamentalists, white supremacists and corporate greed all in the name of freedom.
Again, more projections of prejudice. You assume I must be a right or left winger simply because I disagree with you. That's a good way to immunize yourself against all dissent. bravo!
verstwo2 1 year ago
@verstwo2 "Way to deflect criticism with name calling, classy, I would expect no less." your words.
"did you miss the 24/7 coverage of the teabaggers?"
your words again.
bluezoso 1 year ago
@verstwo2 Quite the opposite. I recall your criticism of the libertarians being entirely that they were conservative. Ignoring for the moment that you were thereby using an ad hominem logical fallacy, would it not seem expedient for me to make the distinction that libertarians are not right wing? I don't give a rats' ass what wing you are, or for that manner, what wing you think the libertarians are, but in so far as you have not put forth any real criticism, there was little else to respond to.
Megabyxos 1 year ago
@verstwo2 Furthermore, your allegations of libertarians supporting religious fundamentalist, white supremacists, tebaggers, and other such accusations, aside from being a logical fallacy, are laughably incorrect. Libertarianism is in direct opposition to white supremacy, is composed of high numbers of atheists, and is dedicated to the principles of freedom. In some intances that puts them on the same side as tea partiers and the right, and other times with liberals; you have no case.
Megabyxos 1 year ago
@Megabyxos - Ron and Rand Paul are quite comfortable in the GOP, and so are all those other groups. The ideology of Right wing Libertarianism says nothing about racism, if your are against it it must be for other reasons. Ron Paul claims to have started the teabag movement, Rand Paul is certainly a member. The difference between Libertarianism and Liberalism is the difference between Keynesian and Austrian economics. With witch you have common cause with the groups I mentioned (and others).
verstwo2 1 year ago
@verstwo2 Right, common cause. We also have common cause with Liberals on gay rights, decriminalization of drugs, and immigration. Libertarians don't give a shit about any party lines or other such semantics, only principles.
Megabyxos 1 year ago
@Megabyxos - Common cause? Or blind ideology? You realize why some of these groups want the 'government off their back'? So that they can be free to practice their form of 'oppression'. The problem with modern Right Wing Libertarianism is that if views all government as inherently bad and all private interest as inherently good. This is a dogma I reject. It's great to support freedoms, I do too, but not at the expense of rights and justice.

@Megabyxos They are Libertarian Party it seems to me. It's silly to me because it's an anti-government political party. I like ReasonTV, my criticism is that they are political or politically-inclined.
EnochEmery251 1 year ago
@EnochEmery251 They do definitely lean strongly toward the Libertarian Party, though they also try to steer Republicans, Democrats, and everyone else in the right direction, instead of unrealistically hoping the Libertarian Party will ever gain much influence. I'm not sure what you mean by your criticism. Of course they have a political viewpoint; they are political analysts and commentators. Every journalist has a viewpoint, and it's possible to advocate that and be fair at the same time.

@Megabyxos I mean political as in they are not libertarian anarchists. They are minarchists with some unnerving conservative leanings.

@N0CR3AT0R Examples of a free market failing? Should be easy right?
nicademus1974 1 year ago
@nicademus1974 as easy as proving or disproving god, but that is only because there has never been a free market

@nicademus1974 Very much easy, Latin America's gradual move to the Left is a good example. The so called "true free market" was short lived, as soon as it was discovered that you could increase your profit by exploiting your workers virus Capitalism emerged.
N0CR3AT0R 1 year ago
@N0CR3AT0R virus capitalism, you mean state managed economies with the label capitalism thrown in. Ie a political economy where there is no free market but big business big labor and big government collusion.

@EasyEs ok, example of true "free market"
N0CR3AT0R 1 year ago
@N0CR3AT0R That wasn't/isn't even close to a free market, there was government intervention everywhere. The only thing that is even close to a free market is the black market, and even that is effected by regulations and laws.
nicademus1974 1 year ago
@nicademus1974 yes, and even the black market exploits people for example do you believe that child prostitution in the black market is "free market".
N0CR3AT0R 1 year ago
@N0CR3AT0R no because both prostitution and having sex with kids are both illegal, IE regulated. There isn't anything free market about it. People are going to exploit other people regardless of what "system" is in place. I just would opt for the system where people are held accountable and can't hide under the shield of government and become unaccountable.
nicademus1974 1 year ago
Sick of people talking about the deficit. Who the fuck cares? There's more debt than actual existing money. You can't get out of debt in a system when you can borrow more money than there is in the current system, and expect to pay it back with more non-existent money.
I loan you $1 at the interest of $0.10. You can't pay it if there was only that $1 in existence.
