I would say he actually killed about sixty . The reason that he lied so much is that he was paid very handsomely to do so. He got to get out of his cell, go on trips and basically live like an incarcerated King. The perks didn't stop while he was in his cell. People who wanted interviews and confessions just kept send him whatever he wanted.

Theres something very chilling about this case that wasnt mentioned at all in this A&E piece. Ive seen the footage, while he was confessing, he talked alot about how he and Toole were actually part of a much larger group of people, from all over the country, who were Satanic and were murdering people to pave way for the "return of Satan" as he said. Im not sure he bought into that, but the evidence does suggest that a whole group of people are responsible for these crimes, not just Lucas.

She said in her testimonies it was a group of 4 people who broke into her house, after more than 10 hours of psychological torture.
