For some reason I never had a problem against Melfice, it was Valmar's fucking eye that gave me the biggest headache!

I do believe that was partly due to me being completely unprepared for it when it appeared ; ;

@TirionAntiAnimeDring what i did, was use the book of wizards (i think) and made my magic users magic attack stronger, and cut off the casting time, so he only landed about 1 in hit in on me.

@TirionAntiAnimeDring yeah, this game was too easy, but it was a pretty good game. you ever tried using the books? i used them on my 2nd playthrough and went through the entire game without dying once. i've only died once in this game and that was because of the annoying ass core of valmar.

i actually managed to destroy melfice since there was the fact that i quad-teamed him almost every time, and raped him with beast-king smash and flying tenseiken. i have to admit though, he was fun as hell to fight though.

For us who didn´t grind this game was really hard! I can´t see why people grind and make the game easy if they don´t want the it easy, it makes no sense whatsoever. There shouldn´t be any problem for them to play it again though, you can experience this game 100 times without getting bored, especially when the fights are so well done ;)

Heh, yeah. I didnt grind when i was playing (didnt think about what you said back then when i was playing).

Melfice was nearly imposible. Tryed Grinding and grabbing healing items, and beter items beforehand. Helped a little bit. Beat him after 2 months of trial and error

@sindiewen Melfice was only hard the first time I fought him :l The second and third times, I was even lower leveled but he was really, really easy. Just get the critical ACT levels of -4 of everything on him and +4 on every character in your party and you already practically won

Agreed. I didn't grind AND avoided any battles I could. The battle with Melfice is one of the hardest (but still winnable by conventional means) battles I have had to deal with in a game, and it is one of the most satisfying battles I have had.

If by "grinding" you mean, battling just about every monster on screen. Then I am guilty! I loved the battle system so much, it was a JOY to fight monsters. But even then, yeah, melfice was a hard ass fight. And wasn't it SAD after you defeated him? Shit... almost brought me to tears.

yeah. The only fight I grinded for was the Eye of Valmar mostly because it's a BITCH to fight and that I was really tired the night before I fought it and I had just skipped every fight along the way xD

i still say that Grandia II is the best Grandia game ever. i've beaten it so many times now, i can play the whole storyline through my head. even the little small detailed parts. but man, Melfice, was he the best. i was hoping that after i beated him, i could learn a move similar to his Wailing Soul Slash (Purple lighting isn't as cool as Wailing Soul Slash) but in the end i just learned Sky Dragon Slash, which is still a great move.

Mareg. the beast man shall and will rest im peace. he helped save the world from valmar and gave power to the granasaber to fly ryudo and the gang home for a final confromtation with valmar.

this was an awesome game. i need to get a new copy of the game. mine is scratched to no end. like wiped with steel wool. i had the ps2 version (there shuld be no difrence between versions besides a couple things) and the playstation 3 cannot read it lol.
