the point of critical mass is to get drivers to notice cyclist. when i am by myself, i do share the road. its the people in cars who run stop signs and don't give me the right away. critical mass isn't about breaking the law, its about getting bike laws noticed.

Critical mass is pretty much the definition of mob action. No real cyclist would ever do it.

@MichaelnChristine I dont think critical mass bike rides were mentioned in the first amendment, you cannot assemble and break the law. So I could have a car critical mass where I run traffic signals and block streets? Of course not. All critical mass cyclists know it is illegal. Cyclists have to abide by the same rules as cars. You have to stop at stop signs and traffic signals and you cannot block streets. It is illegal. You = embarrassingly wrong.

The 1st amn. doesn't mention porn, but it's protected speech, it doesn't mention satire but that's protected speech. Demonstration marches, of which this is one, is protected under the first amendment. Which is why assholes like this, and you, get arrested when you interfere and cyclists aren't bothered by the cops. Bitching won't change reality.

As to why police escort them sometimes it is to protect them from themselves and get them thru with their illegal activity as quick as possible. Cops are basically saying "you cyclists are too stupid to ride properly so we will try to protect you and end your illigal activity as soon as possible". If cops had it their way they would arrest them all but they are understaffed as it is. This isnt even a deminstration or a protest.
