  • @yussoupov p3 and p4 are both good but i like p4 more

  • this game not need social links because:

    1. the town is full of demons

    2. the protagonist knows already his friends

  • Its out in America so I will say so

  • Whats the song from 1:20 - 1:34 it so awesome I gotta learn how to play it!!!

  • Poem for everyones souls, I think

  • i can't really see what they did other then but it on a psp it LOOKS THE SAME!!!!!!!! well it's a good thing persona 3 is getting a psp port too

  • damn, i want a psp now. i thnk it looks good, but i thnk persona 3 & 4 were more stylish(& since u named the character & chose his personality, i felt more immersed in the storyline)

  • i wanna give this game a shot.

    I like persona 4.

Persona 3 is good too, but i prefer persona 4 anyday

  • I've never played any persona games lol XD

  • lol XD

  • @Keifer92 go play persona 4 right now

  • @Keifer92

Go play persona 3 right now

  • This one seems more like a Megten game

  • I'll enjoy playing this~

  • YESSSS

I've been dying to play this game ever since i finished p3 and p4!!!

lotsa people say persona 1 and persona 2's (IS and EP) story was better than p3!!! *_*

    MUST PLAY!!!

  • Storywise = P1 and P2

    Gameplay = P3 and P4

  • XD i see

    I'm getting excited already!

  • well guess what dudette, PERSONA 3 IS MAKING A PORT TO PSP TOO!

  • well i must say your right never liked person 3 sucked persona 4 is wa better ad persona 2 never played 1

  • awsome trailer for the awesomest persona remake ever

  • Could anybody translate for me those Japanese words in the beginning of the clip? From the start of the clip to the 40th sec, particularly -_-. I kinda need to know that

  • so the dungeon crawling is in 1st person in this game?

  • just like in the original the dungeons are in 1 person but some rooms change the prespective into the whole 2d thing. in the original walking around the city was moving a giant cursor around town in a 3d world.

  • is it worth dowloading the japanese iso if i cant read japanese O.o

  • Why bother? It's coming out in September in a full English translation.

  • Wait like 2 months.

  • Duh?

  • I'm not liking the art style for the static portraits and the toon-shaded cg cutscenes. Hopefully the storyline/gameplay will have enough to keep me hooked--after having played the third and fourth entries in the franchise I'm more than willing to give this game a shot.

  • This game had a debut on the PS1 and was relatively obscure until recent years...

Having played that I can tell you one thing: Although I was but a tiny child playing the game, I remember a lot about it, and I loved it. having said that, I don't remember EXACT details, but I can tell you that there's plenty of neat stuff to deal with.

It's a game thats worth the time if you want to know the story. The only problem that might be is the graphics...

  • This game was here way before Persona3 and 4, buddy. This game MADE Persona3 and 4 what they are today. It's just a remake, but the original storyline and concepts are the same, just revamped for the PSP.

"Willing to give this game a shot" is like saying it doesn't seem to match up to 3 and 4, when not only it matches up, it probably runs them over. Honestly, Persona 4 is a joke. I like Persona3, but in the end it feels too much like a dating sim, which dissapointed me.

  • I dont even have a PSP and I pre-ordered this game.

  • Oh, hi there.

This is me, buying a PSP just so I can play this game. <3

  • I heard this game doesn't offer the same social links system featured in Persona 3 and 4. Any truth to that? If so, how does the gameplay differ?

Whatever the case may be, this will definitely be one to look for when it is released on September 22.

  • I heard its an enhanced version of the first persona game, which didnt have such mechanics until p3

  • well it's not going to be the same battle system as to 3 and 4 for that since if you have played the ps1 version of persona (since this is a remake) then it's just the same.

  • I'm well aware of that. I haven't had the chance to play the original persona 1 so I was just asking for some info.

  • it dosnt look like people are shooting themselves in the face =( thats the main reason i'd wanna play persona. i thought that was the most bad ass thing ever.

  • SNOW QUEEN QUEST?!

    I want it :D

  • The Snow Qeen quest was a glitch in the old one but they brought it back 4 this.

  • It wasn't a glitch, it was glitched in the u.s. version, it was a normal quest in jpn :3

    lulz, either way it's AwESOME/

  • What's up with this Snow Queen Quest?

  • idk, i just really wanna play it xD

  • because this is a remake of the ps1 version persona, the snow queen quest is like some extra quest in the game. unfortunately, when that was released in the US, there wasn't that quest because it was only in Japan only. But since they make a remake of the game, they decided to give that quest to the US now

  • whats the name of the song

  • i like the music

  • Will they release this on English? or is it another Japanese only >:(

  • Its definately announced for the US in english for some time Q3 this year (so between august and november) but im not sure abouy anywhere else. Though im pretty sure the PSP is region free so if your outside the US you can import it.

  • They announced it will be released on September 22.

  • Where did the black guy go? O.O

  • Err there never was a black Mark they changed the race of all the characters when they first brought Persona over on the PS1.

  • There never was one,the US version fucked up big time when they first released this.

  • First person ah? I've never played an RPG in first person before...Hahaha

  • AAAAAHHHHHHHA!!!!!

  • So there keeping the first person view when you walk..... well hopefully updated graphics will mean it's not horrible this time.

  • I hated the First person stuff in Persona 1. I was hoping they would do it differently in the remake. Ah well, just one less game to buy.

  • It's an enhanced port more or less. Of course they're going to leave it first person. And I don't really see the big deal about it. That's how it originally was. And yeah P3 and P4 really spoiled us all but you cant be the originals. Not buying it for that reason alone is kinda sad.

  • I think persona 3 & 4 will be better

  • Don't knock it till you try it.

Will be? They've already been released.

  • 3 is the best

  • Lol I like 4 better :D

  • i never played persona what is its platform?

  • the first persona was for the PS 1 then now i guess they are remaking it for the PSP

  • i hope they dont make the protagonist look like a caucasian again in the english version cuz that would look too mouch 4kids

  • wait so is the main character that guy or that girl that we see when it sez persona

  • ah...the nostalgic toppling building block castle

  • is there voice acting?

  • There will be voice acting in the anime cutscenes they added in, but not in the rest of the game, I believe.

  • of course

  • No if anything she looks like yukiko from p4

  • the girl in with the red headband looks like Minimoto

  • man i really don't like remakes.....i rather play it old school but i'll give it a try...i think theres a change in some of the characters

  • Trust me, this will be better than the "original" U.S. players got. Atlus gave the U.S. version a pretty crappy localization job.

  • the "old school" version that the US got was pretty crappy. They did a bad job localizing it to try to make it seem more american, and they changed one of the characters into a black guy to be more PC, but then made his dialogue stereotypical. This remake changes everything back to the way it was supposed to be.

  • i was expencting some thing more cool

but this personna isn't as awesome as you say

  • I dont know what you where "expenciting" but persona is easily one of the best things to happen to gaming in the last decade or so. For me, Persona 3 goes as one of the greatest games ever. I know, graphicly it's terrible, but if you cant find that the art, characters, story and gameplay isn't near enough perfection. I dont know what is

  • The graphics were fine as it is, its no FFXII but it was fine by me, yeah i loved persona 3 but loving 4 even more now as im playing it through XD

  • I must have it! O_O'

  • Same here. This trailer gets me really excited!

  • The music and the trailer combination make the game seem awsome, lol

  • English when come out???

  • given the normal pattern i would say in about 1 or 2 years

  • Since Atlus USA announced it on their website, I'd say only a couple of months.

  • This "Persona" is a remake of the first one for PSX, better graphics, different music and all that. It can't be compared with P3/P4, many new elements have never been on a Megaten before.

But it's very good and anyone who has played the new ones but not the oldies, should be willing to give this one a shot and see what's the fuzz about.

    Very recommended.

  • crap it is still first person view. first person view in rpg's suck

  • ok, not really first person view, but thats only for walking around in dungeons, I find it annoying myself, but ya can't blame them since this is a classic lol

  • Loving this, I have Persona 3, 3 FES and 4, but never played the first two games. Thank you, Atlus!

  • actully, there was three before 3 and 4

    Persona

    Persona 2

And a prequel to Persona 2 that was only released in Japan, which, if they are remaking Persona, with all the stuff the left out from the first american one, then I think they might have Persona 2 remade as well

  • Persona 2 was released in two parts.

    Part one was "Innocent Sin"

    Part two was "Eternal Punishment"

  • yeah, thats what I meant...I just forgot the name of those two cause I haven't played them for a while (emulators FTW ^.^)

  • and i was hoping it would contain nice battle animations like persona 4... but maybe it's back to the gd old PS1 days type of battle graphics..

  • quiet brandenp101 stupid noob, im glad they didn't change the game play i played the first persona on psone i loved it, glad its still turn based whats up with people these days want it more action like or mmorpg like screw u people RPG means ROLE PLAYING GAME = meaning role of dice taking f'en turns holy crap!!! hate these games are called JRPG so gay <,< well can't wait i never got the real copy of this and they fixed the areas easier to naviate

  • The same people also argue that you also play a ROLE in Non-linear games. :/ Really it's such a broad term that's so interpretive.

  • If persona 1 comes to states doe that mean that Persona 2 might come to states too? I want to fight Hitler ^_^

  • It was released in the states, but it went under the radar is didn't sell well. So it was pulled early.

  • That was eternal punishment. What they're thinking of is Innocent Sin.

IMO I'd like to actually see a remake of both but I'm the only one who liked Eternal Punishment better. (I see so many people who go ga-ga over Innocent Sin just cause of HItler...apparently hitler makes a good game)

  • I think its because he's portayed as an atagonist... and because we missed out on a lot of shit in I.S. :P

  • And isn't he always portrayed as an antagonist whenever he appears? :P

But still we did miss out on a lot of stuff. It did leave a lot of plotholes even though I actually liked when I thought you had to figure it out in Eternal Punishment. (That and you do see Tatsuya's character in EP and Maya's in IS)

  • Hitler is actualy very easy to beat,i was thinking he would be very hard.

I just like the main charaters better in Innocent Sin than in eternal punishment,Ginko and Michelle are hillarious

  • Thank you Atlus, even though this game takes back seat to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, It shall be bought! :D

  • *sigh* Why are they trying to make Pesona sound like P3 and P4. I'm glad I still own the orignal copy of the OST.

  • I like bost soundtracks for their own reasons, actually.

  • Foolishness. It's the same composer adding a song. This doesn't mean he's going to up and suddenly remove his old compositions in favor of the a clashing musical style. I mean, just look at the difference in art direction, and then look at how Shoji Meguro has adapted his music for all the different art styles throughout the history of MegaTen. Heck, this doesn't even clash with the game's main plot theme! Oh yee of little faith...

  • Have you even played this game to know what the battle system is like? You might like it actualy requires some tactics. Sure its different from the PS2 games but why does everything have to be the same as those??

  • lol gravijiga that is because some ppl are fucking noobs and cant adapt to the different play style.

  • they're not, and p3 and p4 don't even sound the same... chill out a little, don't give up hope on atlus too soon

  • the director of this game is atlus composer itself!shoji meguro...waww 5 star for him!!!

  • oh ok, i may try this game if it come to the U.S. T_T

  • IT will one website said this june?!@

  • This isnt Persona 4 though. Dont you want to play the original persona how it was originaly? You might like it you know. I like persona's combat system more than Persona3 and 4

  • i heard the combat system is impossible to figure out

  • No, you pick the attack you want and whoyou want to hit it with. Pretty simple. You can also choose to attack with a gun or melee weapon. And of course you can choose to talk to the demons to get spell cards to make new persona's, get items or money or just tell the demons to buzz off. If anything you can do alot in battle than in P3 and P4.

  • It's because the west never got SMT1, and, thus, never got a taste of that insane battle system. This also leaves most western folk unable to make the connection between the old battle system and its evolutions. This is why people threw their copy of Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne out the window after hitting the first Fiend, and why subsequent games, starting with DDS:AT, were toned down in complexity (starting with gameplay).

  • SMT1 and Nocturne had compleatly different battle systems...I played SMT1 before Nocturne and it didnt help me much with the PS2 game. And Nocturne and DDS have the same battle system too. The press turn system

  • Press turn is just an evolution of the basic gameplay system. You're missing the basic system if you think it's that different in terms of preperation. In SMT1, what were the most important things to consider in regards to the battle system? Guns, Items, stat boost spells, and OHKO immunity. Can you see how it took off from there and why every game requires you to master those aspects first? Honestly, playing SMT1 before SMT3 saves a ton of time because you know what to look out for.

  • LOL who ever told u that has no common sense play revelations on ps1 its so ez to figure out... This is just a remake

  • i know its a remake, im not retarded im gonna try the remake when it comes to the U.S. because ive never played P1 for the ps1

  • I hear that the CD is comin g soon.

  • any1 know the name n singer of this song???i think im falling 4 this song....

  • i wish people would stop complaining, since the game is going to be completely intact as what it was when the original came out

my first Persona was P3, and then i played P4 and i just recently played P1, and even though there is a huge difference between P3,4 and P1 they're all still great games

  • I hope you can recruit Yuki in the Sebec storyline in this remake, I always wanted to take her as the fifth member instead of the others.

  • the guy with the yellow hat was Black in the original persona and now......hes not?

  • The black guy is Masao Inaba. He was originally Japanese in the JP version of Persona but in the US release he was made African American and was renamed Mark. Same goes for the main Character. In the US version he was completely remodeled and made with red hair while in Japan he has black hair.

  • The best part is when they bust out the velvet room theme.

  • i read that real fast and at first thought you said "bust on the velvet room theme"

  • hopefully the US version isnt gonna mess with the JP version too much

i want use game shark to get the standard JP levels

  • Damn...I want this game, but I don't want to have to buy a PSP for it, and I don't want to have to put up with the supposedly atrocious playstation version...

  • If you are referring to the localization of the original PSX American release, it's not. Mark looks like Mark and not some stereotypical black kid (overemphasized and a little racist in the original American one). This is where it began and is one of my favorite games. Besides, PSP's rock. You can mod the hell out of the things. I have all sorts of emulators and ROMs including the original SMT games for SNES. I anticipate this release greatly.

  • ilike persona in ps2

  • if anyone gets a link to this song post it on here or reply to me iw ant thsi song so bad

  • Hopefully the two Persona 2s will follow.

  • I don't get it.. people staying away of this game because of graphics? this game was developed 13 years ago, by a (in that time) small company, so they hadn't the big marketing campaigns the others had... I liked the old intro song better, but I'm waiting for this game (sqq, here we go)

  • It seems like there's some new rift between fans of the "old" and "new" Persona games. Stop acting like a bunch of FF/Squeenix fans, please. The Persona series doesn't need it.

  • Yeah, cant it be ok to like both? I have P3 and P1 for my PS2, and though I prefer P3, I like P1 alot too. (I do think adding Social Links to it would be really awkward though, I highly doubt it'll happen)

I'm playing the P2s once I beat P1, and P4 once I finish the Answer for P3 (I already beat the journey)

  • Same here. P2 IS/EP and P4 are definately my two favorites of the series. I liked P3 enough to play it through a few times and get FES, but I just didn't really like the main characters as much as the ones from the other games I played. I've only played a bit of the original U.S. version of P1 so I can't really complain on it, but I'm still really excited for this version of it to see how much it was changed before.

  • I guess I cant really compare characters, as P1's characters are kinda bland and flat. I blame this on being an old rpg and the localization though. I know that in P4 you get complete control over the party members as an option, and that's something I cant wait for.

  • arisato is my twin i love him

  • I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!

    It's like FF1-6 V.S FF7-12 All over again! xD

  • Wanna know the reason why? Because Squeenix fans jumped on the Atlus bandwagon when Persona 3 came out.

So, yeah... They are Squeenix fans, mostly. Only, unlike FFVII and FFX, they actually chose a pretty good game to jump onto a bandwagon with. Too bad they had to bring their graphical Nit-pickings along with them... -.-

Personally, I still play SMT 1 and 2 on SNES. So I don't mind what the graphics are like, I just want this in the US so I don't have to deal with R: Persona for PS1 anymore.

  • Atlus announced the remake of the first Persona for PSP

  • cant wait for the game~

cant wait for the full version of the song as well! xD

  • First we got Star Ocean 1 and 2. Classics.

Now we got Revelations - Persona and (Hopefully) Persona Eternal Punishment & Innocent sin.

The PSP gonna get some great RPGs

I dont think thei're ruining a classic. For what i see, its almost the same that the old version. Better translation and some bonus it's all that i expect.

  • Maybe this time around, the game will get more recognition.

  • Please...no.

I love Persona 3 and 4 for what they are, but there's no reason to start turning all the old games (and even future installments) into the same thing. I'm really glad that Atlus is giving us a chance to experience this old classic on the PSP, in its original form no less (not that botched Americanized version on the Playstation) but I don't even want to see them turn it into a P3/P4 clone like what you're saying.

  • oh okay that's cool but there is no such games with a system for psp and its like persona 2 dungeon game play . anyways looking forward to the remake because i love the bgms

  • The games story doesnt even give you time too on dates. The city is over run by demons, people are dying, friends are in danger. Its not like P3 or P4 where you dungeon crawl in secret after school or at night. Also the random generated dungeons get annoying and are too easy. The dungeons in this game are dont change but they are BIG, MEAN, and will screw you over.

  • I´never palyed Persona or Persona 2 so i was thinking I´am a Big Fan of Persona and I was Thinking should I buy this one?? I mean

O ALMYGHTY ATLUS you give us the chance for us the impure (those one who hasenpt played Persona1,2)

So someon how can answer my question?

  • Now I have a reason to finish this game again :D

  • Why is everyone bashing this so suddenly? I think this is a great idea! I just recently became a Persona fan, but I never wanted to touch the first two games because I though they were too old and 'blah' looking. Atlus is trying to get us younger fans to truly get into the series more. WAY TO GO ATLUS!! XD

  • well, i sounded like a dick, but im not a big fan of remakes

  • The bashing is because of the presentation. It has a P3 P4 type of feel too it and thats NOT what P1 is about at all. I expect there will be alot of dissapointed "persona fans" who are going to be expecting social links and easy duneons and only find a darker non stop/so breaks story and truly sinister dungeon designs.

  • it does NOT have a p3/p4 feeling to it... that's your paranoia speaking... maybe you should watch this video a few more times... even with the 3-D graphics/movie sequences it's still got that ye-olde megami tensei feeling of stiffness and darkness. really, have more faith in the company that makes your dearly beloved games. and may they not turn out like square enix

  • Atlus just announced it!

    It's coming this Fall 2009

  • Comment removed

  • They're not "harming" a classic. Oh, look, they've made a new opening movie (possibly) and added a new song with it. How is that ruining a classic? I bet most of the stuff in the game is going to remain unchanged. Did you even see the gameplay in the trailer? I doubt that suddenly there's going to be social links and every single battle is going to have crazy J-Pop music.

  • yeah, i guess your right, its just a little...shocking to hear.

  • ...well we know the j-pop thing happened afterall. Its not too bad imo though.

  • Will they have the stuff they removed from the US version?

  • Yes, the Snow Queen quest will be in the US version.

  • must bai

  • You know that Meguro made the same Soundtracks that you love so much Right?...

  • i disagree. if you hadnt known they arent making it completely the same, theyre changing parts of the gameplay the storyline and other art so you cant exactly say hes ruining what changing almost completely

  • looks like the original, i noticed the "crawling" you could see your characters on the right side
