  • haha

  • Sad life sobel had. For those of you who haven't read the book he failed at suicide post war

  • Hey it's Ross, From Friends

  • OWNED!!

  • before he was promoted to Major, he was once a Lieutenant under Capt. Sobel.

  • Loved Ross in this mini-series He did a bang up job portraying a hard-driving officer who was in over his head on the battlefield. One of the most important characters in the series, as it was the initial training of Captain Sobel that forged the will and camaraderie that fueled Easy Company's battlefield sucess.

  • Good old Sobel. Couldn't even shoot himself without fucking up! Sad life that man led, sad indeed!

  • watch the band of brothers full movie episode 1 and 2 on my channel now :)

  • Ross in Friends in the Army

  • I would not say Sobel was a bad person. Many Easy Company veterans did say much later that they may not have survived if not for Sobel's hard training.

  • @Steve131 it wasn't the just the training that the soldiers had problems with, it was his attitude, he treated them like dirt, had no respect for them, and refused any of their suggestions or advice, there is a scene where their in a training situation and Winters gives very sound advice, sobel ignores and they lose. He was also very poor officer tactically and even read maps wrong, they refused to follow him into battle, becasue they thought he would get them all killed.

  • @MAnnaconduit1 You know that is not exactly true, Captain Sobel was a very competent officer. He just wasn't a front lines style officer. Despite this he did take part in Normandy after a promotion and reassignment.

  • @Steve131 i agree ...he just wasnt fit to lead them in combat...

  • Ross joined the army?!

  • where's hinkle

  • Quick question: was it a true historical fact that Winters promoted pass Sobel?

I'm not asking about the novel, but in real actual history.

  • @drjaekim The novel is history. It's a bio of the unit.

  • @drjaekim yes thats why he didn't want to salute Winters here! He was a real crappy person!

  • @drjaekim Yes it was. He court marshalled him previously and felt like a dick when Winters was a higher rank than him!

  • @drjaekim yup he was

  • We salute the rank...not the cast of "Friends"...except for Jennifer Aniston.

  • pwnd!!!

  • haha Winters was so right hehe :)

  • I have the box set. I can watch it over and over and over and over and then over again. LUV IT!

  • I think the Airborne was an improvemnt over Inetech for Nixon

  • Sobel was a bastard to his men but he made sure that they had a good start on the European Front

  • What Eppisode was this I watched all of them and this was not in it

  • @Logan329100 Part 10: Points, at very close to the end

  • WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!

  • @Tinkuman28 my thoughts exactly :)

  • Cap Sobel!. We salute the rank, not the man.

  • JEWS 2 THE CATTLE CARS...ALL OF THEM

  • lol

  • HOORAY 4 HITLER...HE"S THE BEST

lets nuke tel aviv and git the immigrants outta here...YEAH

  • @BemusedTIger nazi

  • @Eddyisrich403 um, u say that like its a bad thing...SIEG HEIL FROM JACKSONVILLE

  • @BemusedTIger it is a bad thing ya fuck

  • @Eddyisrich403 <-- male whore who sux off elie wiesel

  • @BemusedTIger ya with the @ symbol at the end that would actualy mean you so your prettymuch insulting yourself. Queer jew killer.

  • I don;t know why everbody is arguing about this anyways. The Nazi's were mass murderers who were the agressors, and put the whole of europe in an all consuming war, ist that enough for ya.

  • @Generatorsarefake hey stop lying bout the nazis...they were...and are...the best ppl on earth!!

  • @BemusedTIger I assume your a damn nazi.

  • @Generatorsarefake nazis coooool..time for you to try to apply to hitler club...but hard to get in

  • @BemusedTIger lol wow

  • @Generatorsarefake nonsense churchill and france declared war on germany

  • ho is nixon

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie "every good person"? He hated everyone that was non-Aryan. The only possible people that could love him are Germans, which I assume you are.

  • @Generatorsarefake Well while I totally think this ann frank person is an idiot and everything he says makes the ww2 era germans look worse, I still think you are hating on Hitler here, he was not a bad person. Maybe he should have rethought his plans to take over the world and tried to collaborate with the community until he got their respect and then finally made his move as opposed to just rushing at it causing his total defeat. He was a non-alcoholic, non-smoker and vegetarian.

  • @JesusofCalgary I am not hating on Hitler. I was just saying the truth.

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie Its not about how cool someone is. Its about the intentions and the reasons...The Nazi's had the wrong intentions and reasons. The paratroopers did a great thing for this world, everyone who fought on the Allies side did. There were Nazi's who collaborated with the Allies because they knew what the wrong thing. Why don't you learn from those Nazi's who knew it was wrong?

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime You say ``The Nazi`s had the wrong intentions`` Although, the general public`s opinion is based off of what they hear, which is very little, this statement is the ideal example of the general public`s opinion. Your opinion is not made from research, seeing it from an honest point of view but from some stupid once sided opinion which you are just regurgitating and spitting it back out through your own mouth.

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie he lives on in peoples minds as an evil person. Not a hero.

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie I've learnt this from things other than TV, you know. I actually know the facts. Hitler killed 6 million jews, Fact. Deal with the fact that even though the Nazi's had nice, smart uniforms (that I admit) however it doesn't give them the right to kill. Have you even learnt about the Nazis? I have and know a fair bit about them and its not a nice piece of history, interesting but not nice and Hitler and his SS were disgusting.

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime It was not Hitler who personally killed 6 million jews, in fact if you are to blame any one single person for the holocaust blame Himmler, as he was the man in charge of the Nazi death squads and the camps, he is the person who ordered the annihilation of the inmates. ``I actually know facts`` This statement is a joke.

  • @JesusofCalgary I know. People like Rommel, Goebel were mostly to blame. In fact Hitler didn't physically kill anyone. I understand that perfectly well. I never blamed one person for the whole ordeal. In fact there were truly hundreds to blame. In fact Britain are partly to blame because we "snubbed" Russia so Germany took the chance and formed an alliance with them.

I do know the facts. Of course, I don't know all the facts but I know some :)

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie He's dead. End of story.

  • ross doesn't fit in this movie

  • LOVE liebgott's face at 0:25 to 0:28

  • hey its ros

  • PIVOT. PIVOT. PIVVOTT!!!

  • I've been reading back at a few of the comments. Especially by a certain user named "AnneFrankMustFknDie@ and I just feel sad that there are people like that still in this world. They should be more respectful to the whole cast and crew of this series and to Easy Company themselves. In fact, to all the people who lost their lives in WW2. Because without them you think to yourself "where would we be now if we hadn't put a stop to Hitler's evil?"

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie I doubt the world would let another person like Hitler get into power. Gadaffi was close but NOTHING will compare to the evil Hitler spread around Europe and in the Pacific. Things people like you haven't the foggiest idea what you're on about and are saying things like that on the internet to get a reaction out of everyone for your own amusement. Well here's a piece of advice. GROW UP.

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie A lie? Are you serious? There is CLEAR evidence. Pictures, concentration camps that are still standing, Nazi soldiers themselves have admitted that the camps are real... What is your problem? Like the worlds not messed up enough already and yet we disrespectful people like you still thinking that you're clever by insulting people who died for no reason.

  • we salute the rank not the beatch

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie So under you're instructions Jewish supply sergeants in the US Army essentially stole trillions of dollars (inflation adjusted ) worth of military equipment and sold it to Jewish gangsters. Thats funny I have never read anything on that or ever seen 1940s gangsters riding around in Jeeps or Sherman tanks. We made 95,000 tanks in WW2 I guess that means gangsters in this country own or sold almost 50,000 tanks to other customers, boy you sound like a real rational person!!!

  • per my post wikipedia Herbert_Sobel

  • 0:28 so cute =)

  • @MissGrizouille62 Damian Lewis? He's kinda dreamy isn't he? :L :3

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime Sure he is =)

I love his role in Life, but unfortunately, there are only 2 seasons :/

  • @MissGrizouille62 I LOVE LIFE! :D Its really good! I'm sad as well that there are only two seasons! I really loved it!! He was really great as that role! xD

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime Yes the role suits him very well =)

But I prefer Ross McCall, i saw him in green street hooligan (he also wore an uniform in that at one moment ) and in an episode of ghost whisperer, he was so cute <3 .

  • @MissGrizouille62 Hahaha I prefer Damian xD

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie I am sure your Grandfather is proud that he served during WW2 so you could be an ignorant, uneducated ass. My apologies. I am sure you come from a long line of Xenophobic chicken shits who never fought to defend anything but slavery,

  • Who cast that sack of shit in this ? Captain Joey Tribbiani would've been better !

  • @MrRiso8 who are you calling "shit"? Damian Lewis or David Schwimmer? Because both are brilliant actors.

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime Obviously David Scwimmer. He is good as Ross and that's his limit ! He's been type cast as a retard. Which is sort of what he is in this !

  • @federico506 I have to admit this wasn't his best role. I couldn't take him seriously cos I was just imagining Ross! But I don't think he's a terrible actor! He's pretty good!!

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime Yeah your right, he is 'good' as Ross and he gets the character sooo right because he to.... is a DICK !

  • @federico506 :L I wouldn't say so. Its a matter of opinion really. I think he's good. You don't. I think we both agree that he's not good as this role.

  • @MissHappyAllTheTime this guy get's it. He is a bad actor, good as Ross. He would have been better in MASH, dressed as a lady. he is a fucktard ,he cannot act there are so many better actors out there than him. If you want to see a good war film watch Patton and see acting. Or Saving Private Ryan

  • @MrRiso8 I've seen Saving Private Ryan and yes its got good acting, very good.

I agree Schwimmer isn't the best actor in the world, or my even close to my favourite actors. But I don't think he's a terrible actor (terrible would be like Kristen Stewart). I do like him as Ross... and I think he's good in comedic roles rather than serious.

  • Epic scene! i was looking for this......

  • they shouldn't have put him in the cast.. thankfully was only a small role. was funny at beginning when he got them all lost in training and they were winding him up, in fact did they not cost him his job on purpose as no-one wanted to follow him into battle due to being incompetent? ..Winters on the other hand was a military genius, appartently the plan he made up (in 10secs lol) in "day of days" episode is taught all over in world in military schools as 'attacking a fixed position'

  • @AnnFrankMustFknDie and yet another pointless comment...

  • @13activate131 yeah just like this pointless tv show...glad ive never watched it...directed by heebs

  • @BemusedTIger It was a brilliant series! You can't say it wasn't cos you haven't watched it! AND the Directors did an amazing job. You should be more respectful to both the whole team who worked on the series, and Easy Company.

  • im sorry, i hate to sound like an idiot but i dont get it, can any 1 explain??

  • @ifergify At the beginning of the series, Captain Sobel was the superior of Major Winters, who was a lieutenant at that time. Over the course of the war, Winters distinguished himself in combat and leadership whereas we never hear about Sobel. In this end scene Sobel attempts to slink by and verbally acknowledges Winters but doesn't salute him and gets called out about it. Let it be known that in real life, Sobel goes on to serve during the Korean conflict and retires as a Lieutenant Colonel.

  • @rong7676 ok ty

  • @rong7676 He also shot himself in the head, went blind for the last 17 years of his life and died from malnutrition in a va facility. Contrary to the show, he did jump on D-day as well.

  • If I was in the army I'd be lucky to have some one as Sobel to train me cos that made me strong enough to face the war. However, it would be unfortunate if someone like Sobel to take the lead in a real fight.

  • My great uncle made special mention of this moment when he told me stories when i was a little girl, visiting him on his farm. Ill always miss you Uncle Dick!

  • yes, so funny i think i died

  • We Salute the rank not the man.

  • We Few, We Happy Few, We Band Of Brothers...

  • MANA!

  • guy, yes sobel was a dick, but if he hadnt been there to train the men, i can guarentee, every one in Easy Company would be dead

  • take that Sobel!

  • He was hated by all the men but that's why he was so successful, the disciplined he forced into the men and the amount of fitness training, night operations made them the best of the best. He himself was never as fit though.

  • @Blitz7711 read about him on wikipedia

  • by the way everybody who blame sobel... only one question are you in the army?

  • @Blitz7711 but he's no brilliant trainer especially when he is flummoxed out in the field, that's like part of training. Even great coaches who don't play the game know a little bit about in their experience to be able to coach with integrity. Maybe the demands sobel placed on the company led them to be tougher but he did not necessarily become a leader of integrity, and that's really what counts. I mean, look at Spiers, he wasn't Easy Co. He was Fox. But the endurance portion of course is sobel

  • @Blitz7711 excellent point taken, blitz7711, but I hardly think the men really really "owe" him their lives: he wasn't in the battefield where everything goes out the window except your training (yes) and your wits AND your fellow soldiers. The credit he does deserve is his relentless training. that's it. The 50% the men needed to get to where they were when on the battelfield, The rest was up to men like Winters. But, yes, you make an excellent point again where the ONLY place, as you said

  • @NavySEALxRay it doesn't seem so convincing when you say, "well, I read the book!" or maybe you just meant he "Wrote the book" on it, eh? much better? peace.

  • this guy sobel was a hard ass he treat evrybody with discipline and shit but he was also a chicken he wouldnt jump out of the fuckin plane hahahaha

  • @NavySEALxRay reading th book and being smart aren't the same thing, ray.

  • @Blitz7711 a poor tactician. maybe a strict commander whose regimen forced the men to endure hardships as practical training but in the field, not necessarily or even at all a good leader to follow whether as a role model or lifter of morale. you can't NOT be practical when it comes to lives of men in the heat of battle. But his regimen did take the men out of their comfort zone.

  • @NavySEALxRay You make an excellent point except for the fact the series showed him as lacking in field skills. I am no secret squirrel ninja, but I have served in the Army under both good and bad Officers. The problem with a lot of barely adequate Officers is they think that being a prick will somehow make them better. Easy Coy was a success because of junior Officers like Winters and Nixon.

  • they were on a break !

  • aahaa I see wat u did there! :D

  • @NavySEALxRay back to the threats....your not any fan, just another backwoods idiot in trailer house like Freakshow!! Get a life.

  • owned!!

  • @NavySEALxRay No offense, but I dought you know who any of Seal Team Six is and if you did you don't go on youtube a social network and say any names. By the way, judging by your choice of Navysealxray tells me your just a wannabe seal pup.

  • @Blitz7711 "He only fell down on the practical side." Heh. Heh. What other side is there if you are US Army officer??

  • Comment removed

  • sobel was an excellent trainer but a terrible tactician it wouldve been an insult to the USA for him to lead them to war

  • Winters was simply the better tactician and fighter. After the shit Sobel put him through I'm glad Winters got the last laugh.

  • Sobel doesn't train those men like he did and they die in combat.

  • What does winters meen with; we salute the rank not the man? i don't get it, can somebody explain it?

  • @blooddef if you see the whole film you will notice that this sobel used to be tha bad guy which is very good, cuz is the only way to make good soldiers, but he was mad at winters because he was smarter than sobel, and when he saw winter was major he had to swallow his own proud.

  • @blooddef That puzzled me as well, and I served four years as an 0311. The surface reading is this, maybe. It's vital that the integrity of the chain of command be upheld, even if some officer or another (or an enlisted man or another) doesn't think that a senior officer warrants the respect of a salute. Nevertheless, his loyalty is to the integrity of the command, and so he salutes. That's the best I can think of. (Salutes are both a very formal thing and a very personal thing.)

  • @blooddef I think it means : -It's not up to you to value why high officers gave me the rank of major while you, in 12 months of war, didn't get anything: respect the rules saluting the rank becaus it's your duty.- Here's the way I explain it to me.

  • @blooddef whether you like the man or not, it's about his role as your ranking commander that you salute, the ourtesy is for his role, not respect for the man personally....

  • seen this video loads and it is really really good

  • The funny part was when I clicked the dislike button

  • not funny

  • @Blitz7711 "He ONLY fell down..."??? How can one obey his commander orders if everytime he should guess weather it's the right order or the wrong order? It's a matter of lives...

    (...ONLY... he sayd...)

  • @Nickbol09 Wrong! As a former NCO in the Army when a soldier of lower rank fails to render the proper respect to someone who outranks them it is our job as leaders to correct them. In fact, it is every soldier's job regardless of rank to ensure respect is maintained at all times.

  • Some people didn't get that joke. For the people who don't: Maj. Dick winters used to be a lower rank from Sobel at first, and Sobel had no respect for Winters. Later on, Winters got promoted to Major, which is higher Than Captain (Which is what Sobel is) And they point is, Sobel has to respect Winters for now on.

  • @Blitz7711 your right he was a brilliant trainer. and the men that lived through the war probably owe him there lives in that regard. but i dont think he ever could have been a battlefield commander or leader. He didnt have the Charisma needed to inspire men or earn their rescpect. and as we saw from the training exercises he couldnt adapt to a situation.

  • Punked!

  • @Blitz7711 according to my grandad (joe toye) sobel was a bad leader all round

  • what the fuck is Ross doing in the Army??

  • @username13245100 he is captain..maybe

  • @username13245100 lol...

  • @username13245100 The Army was desperate?

  • OWNED!

  • "You salute the rank, not the man." LOL

  • he was a good leader he just panicked when in the field

  • @maccas1329 not a good leader when you panick in the field, especially if you're a soldier...

  • @zendojo3 he was an excellent trainer, he helped shape the men into a capable fighting unit...he was still a good leader just not in combat

  • MANNAH

  • How is this clip funny? It's one of the most powerful scenes in BoB.

  • So no one told you army life was gonna be this way... ( CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!!)

  • @EricW1063 maybe because its 2.10 at night or maybe im a little tipsy but im in stitches after reading your comment thank you best laugh ive had all year

  • @EricW1063 LOOOOOOOOL im high and your comment is GENIUS!!!

  • @EricW1063 Omigawd I laughed so hard. Thank you for that XDDD

  • the 3 dislikes should eat hitlers pants

  • I loved this scene......but u need to watch the whole series....or at least the first couple episodes to understand

  • Karma on so many levals

  • hehe.. the smirking man looks like seth myers.

  • 0:30

    and how about you?

    *shakes head*

    Pwned!

  • R.I.P Maj.Richard(Dick) Winters . you are a true hero and i hope you reunite with the rest of Easy's Men in heaven

  • Get 'em.

Although I respect Sobel for being a hard nose.

  • well, eventually Sobel kicks Winters ass again, since he will be promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel.

  • @Sustructy Sobel hated Winters and the company. He would later blame Winters for Easy being taken from him, though it really lay in his own incompetence (Sobel) as a battlefield commander. He only ever attended one of the reunions according to records, and then quietly committed suicide sometime in the 1980's. To his dying day, he blamed everyone but himself for his failings.

  • @darkyoda well that isnt true. He actually shot himself in the head in the 1960s, severing his optic nerves and leaving himself blind. for the next seventeen years he lived out his life, and then died in the 1980s from MALNUTRITION

  • @darkyoda Sobel didn't commit suicide. He did shoot himself, in I believe the mid 1960's, but he failed and blinded himself in the process. Lived 19 years after shooting himself. Died in like '85 or something.

  • @Sustructy um yea after winters already left the army

  • oq q tem de negraçado ai?

  • sick series!~!

  • he made probably the best company in the entired army...and not even one of then went to his funeral...sad.

  • @manian15

mainly because no funeral was held in the first place

  • @dinnyfm oh shit my bad lol

  • If you read major winters' book, he says many times that without Sobel, Easy Company wouldn't have been any where near as good as it was. This is because he pushed them so hard that they didn't want to step even a toe out of line.

  • Its funny when Sobe el is tricked when one of the recruits does an impression of the colonel
