your exactaly right theres these assholes who buy a little cute spanial puppy and dont even walk it then they want to get rid of it when the thing goes ape shit all the time and they wonder why.stupid
This is what Springers are born to do. People who wonder why their apt springer is always barking and running around don't really get it. Every Springer you see at an AKC show really wishes it was out here doing this.
Thanks for your good wishes I thought you might like to know since then my wife has made me the present of a springer puppy 'Ace' who is currently in training and showing promise .Its been a long while since I trained from such a young dog hopefully we can start feather retrieves shortly.
watched the clip a few times more u sure its docked at all man, its got thats mares tail look that suggests it wasn,u buy the dog off someone who told u they had docked it man
That is a correctly docked springer it is really only necessary to remove approximately the final third of the tail which is the whippy part and prone to getting hung up in brambles. This year will be the first time in 20 odd years I will shoot without the company of a faithful spaniel after the loss of Spinner who died last week.
I have a theory, did u keep it that long so it would have some white tip at the end, judges at trials perfer cause it looks well when the dog is working cover, still think itstoo long man
personally i would mark it down, but thats just MY personal opionon, i think it looks ungainly, i think the minimum is a third, but to be sure of no tail damage at least a half, only a personal opionon mind
That's a good trial length dock! All my spaniels are the same and I have never had a tail damage problem and they work some very thick cover! A longer dock for trials is better as it looks more stylish. I don't like to see a spaniel with a too short dock, no need for it.
With no training at all both my springers can flush birds for the gun (no way as good as yours, not even half as good !), but I do get to eat Pheasant / rabbit etc when we can find them.
She is mainly free hunting in this video. The video was to show a freind her great style. There was a lack of game on that ground, although she did flush a couple of woodcock not shown on the video.

i have a springer..how comes she keeps running over the same place? it seems like it would know that it already checked that area and would move on.

I hunted over one this past season. I like them much better than the pointing breeds.
