Much better graphics, although you will need a very very much better PC to run it well. IL2 used to turn into crappy PC, rof won't turn good in no-high end PC or normal PC older than 2011.

This game seems to accurately simulate WWI air combat. Amazing how much those aircrafts could manouver. It would really require a lot of skill, to fly unreliable planes and under the pressure of being shot. True heroes.

i cant move my plane in on line multiplayer, nor can anyone seem to hear me... the prop spins , i throttle to full but my plane does not move.. only in on line multiplayer... someone told me fuel mixture was the problem... i think there is some kind of wheel lock break preventing me to move at all... do you know the answer.. thanks for any help you can offer..
@FIORELLOINVENTIONS Look at the settings on the server you are playing on. They might have different settings than you are using for the single player game, for example the engine controls might not be on automatic. Check to see also if "warmed up engines" has been enabled or disabled.

@Dgl44 I imagine it might be possible to re-map the flying commands to the mouse axis but I don't understand why anyone would want to. This is a true flight simulator and the aircraft are already quite challenging to fly, using a mouse to control them would be very difficult if not impossible. In addition to the pitch / roll axis there is also a rudder to control and I don't know how that would be accomplished with a kb/m. The free look requires a j/s hat switch, mouse or TrackIR

does this have any kind of frame limiter because your computer is pretty much "the best" and you get 60 fps without fraps? or is it just the game is soo heavy to run?
@pivotiano The game does have a frame limiter and various performance settings to make it compatible with different hardware. It a very demanding sim program and really needs a strong multi-core CPU to run well. I actually get about 45 fps with the settings listed. Running the video replay which is recorded here doesn't take as much of the system so Fraps can run at the same time as the game at 1080x1920/30 with no trouble.
Great vid, but are there rof servers that dont use labels or tags....or something like a HUD. Its a simulator you have to get close at your enemy to id him as friend or foe.
@Sablicious Yes, there is a 3rd person "Arcade" style view available but you'll want to use the cockpit view. This game is really a simulator. I find using the 3rd person view very distracting for actual flying. The external views in the video are from the game's replay feature.
@Mentran Yes, the planes are quite challenging to fly. But some are easier than others, the DVII here isn't too difficult to learn plus there are easy pilot settings to help.
@thc024 They are downloadable content available from the Rise of Flight website. Go to Community and then Useful Materials for the official Skin Packs. You can download others from various websites or make you own. There are instructions on the Forum under "3rd Party"

does this have any kind of frame limiter because your computer is pretty much "the best" and you get 60 fps without fraps? or is it just the game is soo heavy to run?

@pivotiano The game does have a frame limiter and various performance settings to make it compatible with different hardware. It a very demanding sim program and really needs a strong multi-core CPU to run well. I actually get about 45 fps with the settings listed. Running the video replay which is recorded here doesn't take as much of the system so Fraps can run at the same time as the game at 1080x1920/30 with no trouble.

Great vid, but are there rof servers that dont use labels or tags....or something like a HUD. Its a simulator you have to get close at your enemy to id him as friend or foe.

@FRGR8 Yes, in fact this server is the only one as far as I know that has the icons enabled. You can turn them off too if you want.

@Sablicious Yes, there is a 3rd person "Arcade" style view available but you'll want to use the cockpit view. This game is really a simulator. I find using the 3rd person view very distracting for actual flying. The external views in the video are from the game's replay feature.

@Mentran Yes, the planes are quite challenging to fly. But some are easier than others, the DVII here isn't too difficult to learn plus there are easy pilot settings to help.

@thc024 They are downloadable content available from the Rise of Flight website. Go to Community and then Useful Materials for the official Skin Packs. You can download others from various websites or make you own. There are instructions on the Forum under "3rd Party"
