  • Anyone who thinks Jerry hated this tune needs to take the blinders off and do their homework. It's in print that the grew on him and he LOVED the progressions.

  • Anybody know the name of that 6-stringed bass instrument Rob Wasserman is playing?

  • That's David Sanborn, a sax player- he woudl also sit in on the old Letterman show on most Thursday nights.

  • Who's the "introducer"?

  • k so i noticed 2 dislikes on here and for the sake of keeping things positive i'll be brief..... idiots! for real!

  • around 6:50-6:51 bob throws rob a note and he catches it..

  • wow! gotta be my favorite version of this song!

  • 6:15 scared the children

  • this show was so fucking cool , lets do it again !! we need a show like this go ahead steal my idea...LOL yes, it IS 2010. and Ilove Bob and Bob

  • Get Weir'd

  • nice sneakers on bobby boy

  • Rob w is a beast! That upright sounds amazing

  • lmfao to that comment....gotta love 80's/90's bob.

  • Bob and Rob was my first Dead/jam anything, Man was i lost..... i remember everyone singing in unison to bob in his izod his daisy dukes and flip flops W>T>F

  • this is amazing, very nice TY

  • This is fantastic.

  • These rhythms seem very difficult and are played flawlessly!! Wow, very impressive, I love it. Thank you!!

  • The acoustic rendition of this song was always my favourite. It's very underated.

  • I have to disagree with some here. Victim was always one of my favorites - poignant and introspective. And the Rob and Bob show was also a favorite era of Ratdog for me - the SOUNDS those two could make.

I feel that this shows Rob Wasserman as being one of the finest bassists in the world; Bobby is in good voice, and the overall mix is well done. This is a very good example of this song and their capabilities.

  • I have to disagree with shattersmith and terrapinbobby. Victim was always one of my favorites - poignant and introspective. And the Rob&Bob show was also a favorite era of Ratdog for me - the SOUNDS those two could make.

  • I am a huge Dead fan but this song blows. Even Jerry called it hideous.

  • that was sweet!!!

  • Man, Dave really looks like Blackie Dammett.

  • Very nice. Thanks for posting.

  • my comment was in response to shattersmith. you have a right to your own opinion but, whatever dude.

  • I haven't seen this in YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bobby (is/was/has always been) uninteresting without Jerry. Especially doing "Victim".

  • get your head out of your ass

  • any one have a date on this?

  • This was in 1989 - 1990.. it used to come on at 2 am Saturday nights where I lived.. we would make sure we left any gig we would play in time to get back to the band house to watch this.. The song was co-written by actor Gerrit Graham, who played "Beef" in the film "Phantom of the Paradise"

  • The style of percussively playing with the wood of the bow is known in the classical music realm as "col legno".

It sounded particularly interesting on Wasserman's electric upright....

  • how long ago was that name given? surely it wasn't part of classical music until some experimentalists came along. how long ago could that have been?

  • Man, there's some pretty "weird" classical music out there... You just gotta start listening.

We did "col legno" style in high school orchestra back in... 1992! This style has been around for centuries!

  • interesting.

  • I looked it up for you. Here is a symphonic piece that utilizes a similar technique (col legno) as Mr. Wasserman:

"Dream of Witches' Sabbath" of the fifth and last movement of Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique

  • i so much miss this show. wonderful musicians, great segments, and i really liked when they'd get an artist to make fun of themselves in a silly little side sketch. Thank god for YouTube

  • me too

  • weir and wasserman always rocked... listen/ watch how good this victim sounds.. bob voice is strong, i love ratdog!!! , but i would love to see weir and wasserman do a few tours again

  • yeah man i saw a show back in 00 or 01 with bob and rob that really just was amazing. they had a drummer and a keyplayer that night though
