@BoSaNaC3000 Go with the yamaha. I have rode yamaha since i was on a PW 50 and have been yet to have any major problems. I am now on a 2004 YZ250 2 stroke.
yamaha is defaintly the most reliable package. i've never had any problems at all with my yz450f. and the engine's power is so usable. I moved up from a 85 to a yz450. and felt right at home on the thing. Yamaha is defaintly the way to go. (dont by a Honda 250. the unicam engine needs to revalved after every month)
@Renfighter23 that was a risky jump, but i bet you might have felt better rideing a 250 at least fo awhile. also my friend has an 05 crf 250 and he absolutly beat the shit and abuses that bike, is never on time with the maintanace and the valves are way outa spec and its fine except for cold starts and a somewhat lack in power. im also a mechanic so this is more noticable for me than anyone.

@ilikesuzuki its a decent difference i dont know an exact amount to go up. also the stock exhaust kinda makes the yamaha less powerful also. honestly u probably wont feel a difference between all of them unless you are a pro. but out of those 3 i would say the Kawasaki is the fastest, the yamaha the best handling/most durable, and the honda good all around. i heard the Pro circut makes the yamaha have good all around power also. you'll be happy with either one
@ilikesuzuki ok read the 250f shootouts before u buy. the yz isnt as powerful allaround as the kx. the yz is a lower powerband and the kx is mid to upper powerband. if there is a few hundred dollar price band then get a fmf/drd slip on then it will out due the kx in all powerband. idk how durable the kx is but the yamaha is very reliable. Read the Shootout and tell me what u decide. PS the shoot out people are pros and will know more then me.

@ben1996ful depends on your budget, i personnally would take the 125 because 2 stokes are a lot simpler to rebuild and cost less, where as a 4 stroke cost more and is slightly more complex
@ben1996ful its personal preference the 2 strokes are good for motocross situations...but they burn shit loads of fuel... plus there is a power band you have to get to
4's are better for trail rideing and are better on fuel economy
the 4 stroke doesnt have a power band so there isnt a bog when you first start out

@clokedbigman every engine has a powerband, just not that of a 2 stroke powerband. a 4 stroke powerband is better defined as a torque/ power curve because they never really peak or drop in power, its consistent throughout the rpm range unlike a 2 stroke.

@ben1996ful depends on your budget, i personnally would take the 125 because 2 stokes are a lot simpler to rebuild and cost less, where as a 4 stroke cost more and is slightly more complex

@ben1996ful its personal preference the 2 strokes are good for motocross situations...but they burn shit loads of fuel... plus there is a power band you have to get to
4's are better for trail rideing and are better on fuel economy
the 4 stroke doesnt have a power band so there isnt a bog when you first start out
i personaly would go with the 4 stroke because of the way i ride it
although my yz 85 does rip for a little turd....i like my fart machine alot better because of what i ride

@clokedbigman every engine has a powerband, just not that of a 2 stroke powerband. a 4 stroke powerband is better defined as a torque/ power curve because they never really peak or drop in power, its consistent throughout the rpm range unlike a 2 stroke.

I have the opportunity to get a 2006 YZ250F and I'm wondering if it will still be a good bike even though it's an older model...? I'm kind of new to the MX scene because I usually stick with ATVs (YFZ450R) but I want to get into MX, so will this be a good transition bike?

@XXinsan3XX21 haha i have a crf230 and i need a 250 really bad everyone says ther gutless and stuff but i keep up with the c grade 250s on mine you just gota hold em open and ther good and relible and you dont have to do anything to them like on the race bikes the ttr is not such a good bike my dads a mechanic and has worked on a couple of them beacuse thev broken down and ther throttle responce when there a bit cold is horrible

Yz 250f all the way! It's way better for hill climbing than the 125 and you don't have to add 2stroke oil every time. you just pull up to the pump and fill up and then your off to the races

Read your claim again - "4 strokes have always been faster than 2 strokes". You never mentioned anything about the class rules, which are retarded and biased anyway. It's like saying that a 250lb American can outrun a 450lb Kenyan marathon runner. Compare on the basis of the same cubic capacity and you will see how a 4 stroke can never beat a 2 stroke.

Okay, since you either are genuinely ignorant or a real douche, here is it, for the last time - on an equal footing on the basis of engine size (250 Vs 250 or 125 Vs 125 for instance), a 2 stroke will always generate more power than the 4 stroke and unless the manufacturer has screwed up everywhere else (suspension, brakes etc.), the 2 stroke will always win. Why do you think MotoGP transitioned to 2 strokes in the early 60s? Because they allowed 500cc vs 500cc machines - 4 or 2 stroke.

See, here's what you don't get. A 250 2 stroke doesn't race with 250 4 strokes. It races with 450 4 strokes. IN ITS CLASS, the 4 stroke will always win, Go ride a 250 2 stroke and than hop on a 450 4 stroke and see how much harder they are to control and how much faster you get tired. Unless you don't race and are basing all your facts on the stuff you read in magazines.

You made a statement '4 strokes are faster than 2 strokes' and now you try to change the statement. You race bikes? Sounds a bit of a dubious claim seeing as to how you say riding a 4 stroke is more tiring/tougher than a 2 stroke. It is the other way around, mate. I didn't want to have to say this but since you insist - I have raced both 4 strokes and 2 strokes.
