She neglected her duties and crops started dying whatever Greek farmers did. So Zeus, king of the gods sent the Messenger god Hermes to confront Hades, but Hades was cunning and had given Persephone a pomegrante from the underworld. If you eat food from the underworld, you can't leave. So Zeus split the favor. In spring, summer and fall, Persephone would be at Earth with Demeter, and on winter she'd be with Hades in the underworld. The greeks say that's why crops don't grow good in winter.

@lovablecutie39, its a greek myth. Persephone, daughter of Demeter the agriculture goddess was the goddess of springtime and therefore was playing in a wildflower field. Then Hades, the God of the Underworld, realm of dead souls came up and happened to see Persephone. Instantly in love with her magnificent beauty, Hades took her with him back to the underworld. Meanwhile, Demeter was franticly looking for her daughter, but when she found out what Hades did, she fell into deep sadness.

@shodow10MS yes but your counting winter and fall. Then it's summer and spring. The 6 months Pereshone is on earth is summer and spring. Then the months she is with the underworld lord is winter and fall. It is how the Greek believe they got the seasons. I have a book on It. Greek mythology
