How to clean custom shoes

I clean the rubber part of my Vans and Chucks with Clorox wipes. They are awesome. Get every bit of dirt off of the white rubber part and take two minutes to use. My kicks always look brand new. Just sayin. Saves alot of work and time. ;)

..............QUESTION!!!!!! Okay this might seem a stupid question, I don't know, but he doesn't seem to scrub the top of the shoe AT ALL - what happens if you accidentally tread in a muddy puddle or something and it ends up on the design? Will the design come off if you try to clean it? (I know you'd probably be careful with these shoes anyway, but when I like something I always seem to use it more..)

I'm afraid the paint will come off if I rub the sides of my chucks, since a small part of it already came off when I tried to clean them. I just wash them with water now, and don't rub it.
