I don't watch QI a lot, but the episodes I've seen the other 3 were present.

And Jeremy is internationally know for being annoying -but he's actually a friend of Stephen's.

@Bazch Alan Davies is the only permanent guest. David Mitchell has been on 13 times (14 once the H Series are finished), Ross Noble has been on 3 times (all this series) and Jeremy Clarkson has been on 8 times.

I believe the "anti-drowning device" was talked about during the pilot of the show. That might be how Alan guessed about the bellows' use.

That, and seven previous seasons would suggest that it would be the most outrageous answer. We sure did believe some rediculous things.
