  • Thanks for this, It brings back so many good memories of a wonderful summer when I was 17 and the world seemed to be just for me and my friends!

  • @Joey05ist .........Me too Joey. 17 was the best age, and though I posted this song, I havn't listened to it for a few years.

    Here's looking at you kid.

  • Some of my best memories are connected to this song...thanks for this upload :-)

  • My local radio station 4BH in Brisbane plays this all the time. Great song.

  • Reminds me of walking in Princes Street gardens in Edinburgh with my cousin I was about 9 eating ice lollies and watching the Scottish country dancers and no doubt making a nuisance of ourselves.happy carefree days.

  • Superb song . I was in love with a married woman and this was our song but she wouldn't break her family up . Moved on but still wonder what could have been.

  • I got married 2 years ago (for the second time). This song played as the bride walked down the aisle. Always made me smile; even more so now...

  • @thefaces11

Yes, I agree with you, this reminds me of my very happy teenage years. Just the song to lift your spirits, I can't think of anything else like it.........well, maybe Marvin Gaye and Tammi Tyrrell singing Ain't No Mountain High Enough. There's always something special about a favourite song when you were a teenager ......... dream, dream! Love this!

  • I am 37 in a few days, love heavy metal and hard rock, but I would have to truely say, they don't write songs like this any more. My absolute faverourite. A pure gem.

  • This was from a time when you could tell Englands seasons apart. Before man totally destroyed the worlds climates, and any hope of peace, with wars, greed and mass hatred. Which will once again bring about the demise of the human race. As they say history repeats itself. Sorry to be so heavy. But this song was from far better times than we live in today....

  • 1969 ...oh fond memories of a girl I fell in love with as a boy of 14, the girl at the bus stop, for the whole year I would wait and catch the late afternoon bus just to see her get on the bus as I got off, she never knew I loved her, we never spoke except one day I got up the nerve to say hello. I never saw her again, I later learned she moved that week to another state. Oh Margaret, what ever happened to you???

  • one of my all time favourite songs from the 60s

  • Well I'm in a brand new relationship and this humble old tune really speaks to me. Wow factor indeed...

  • Just wonderful to hear this again after so many years. Whatever happened to Peter Sarstedt ?

  • Just wonderful to hear this again after so many years.

  • In 1969 I was involved with the biggest charity walk OXFAM 69 and every time I reached wembley they sent me back to another check point. The day before I had a bike written off and nearly me. Great year with more ups and downs then all the Sixties put together. Beatles and other groups all splitting up. Great songs like these made it all worthwhile. And the girls wore those sexy clothes enough to stop traffic suddenly.

  • pep youself up by listening to this brilliant

  • Just excellent.

1969 was my favourite year for music.

  • Heard this on Radio 2 simply great

Brian Matthews sho is one of the best on radio

  • another drake-chenault project that was hitbound on KHJ,KFRC,CKLW,WRKO,WHBQ.&WOR-FM.Like its predecessor Where do you go my lovely the song was great but never really took off.

  • what are the guitar chords

  • Verse: E major --------I'll buy you one more ...etc

    Chorus: Amajor 'and if you wanna go...' Emaj7;

(twice) end up on B7[yes i do etc]

Quite a simple song musically, it is all the string arrangments and band that makes it sound so lush. good piece i always thought.

  • I thought I was getting on a bit LOL but those were the days, life was a lot simpler and nice then, or am I being nostalgic?

  • It's a pity songs like can't solve the problems of this world.

If the war mongers could hear it every day perhaps the world might be a more peaceful place for everyone.

  • He bought me a very hot tomato soup because it was so incredibly cold in Liverpool and later kept on laughing all the way...

  • Shame there doesn't appear to be a video clip from Top Of the Pops or Beat Club for this song.

  • Yes, the summer of 69, I was also 15. Probably the best summer of my life with so many dreams and my first trip to England.

  • Oh...I LOVE this song. What a song on a fantastic day! Today is such a day! the sun is shining and the summer to look forward to....bliss.

  • wow beautiful

  • Great song. Who is the first woman to appear in the video at 0.37 s - she seems somehow familiar. I was only 4 in Jan 1969.

  • Summer of 69 great,13 years of age and not a care in the world. Superb uplifting track

  • Eden Kanes's brother!!

  • Cheer's Charlie...Certainly cheered me up...The Beer helps as well...LOL...

  • I love this song! Nice lyrics, loping rhythm and that glorious orchestra. Quite the opposite from his rather melancholy better-known track "Where Do You Go To My Lovely" (also a great one). I'm also rather fond of "I Am A Cathedral". But "Frozen Orange Juice" (which I hadn't heard until 1980-something) has become my favourite.

  • can anynoe tell me where on the internet can i buy and down load F O to my ipod

  • go on the internet type in AUDACITY download it, you can then record from anywhere including Youtube, save to hard drive then to your ipod.

  • I took magic mushies once and thought I was a small fish...but that wasn't this song (it was Piper at the Gates of Dawn, for the record). Yeah, I love this song. I think it's right up there with the Beatles' best. actually.

  • feeling down so need to chill out with F O. works every time.

  • Its good for what ails ya..

  • very nice indeed

  • this is my all time fave record . amazing voice , the lyrics are sublime . charliemctruth u are a genius. keep postin keep rockin my friend .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is amazing how some songs have the quality of encapsulating a time, a place a feeling-and like magic you can access this and return to the place you were-this is one of those songs, larger than the sum of its parts somehow?

  • Gad. I could listen to this song all day. Does anyone else get the feeling that after the orchestra kicks in, the whole song just scoops you up and carries you along? The imagery that this song creates is so strong. You can see a young couple enjoying the Spanish sunshine together. I only had an imaginery girlfriend in those days but the adoring look in her eyes as we climbed the hills of Madrid was captivating.

  • I'd like to thank charlie for putting this superb song on, cheers! Went to Madrid on the strength of this song. Classic.

  • chaa you all cant just talk nicely to each other?

  • Possibly the greatest summer song ever wrote, from a guy who has been under-rated for far too long. For me he is a sheer genius. Brings back great memories of childhood summers spent with my late gran, who died a year ago this June....

  • This song and "Jean" by Oliver are the two songs that bring back 1969/70 for me. I can recall my exact feelings about school, life and love even the taste of life all those years ago just from hearing this. Oh the magic of music. Thanks for the post.

  • yes bolly he was very underrated

  • Great to hear and see this again after years of not hearing it. Memories agh great stuff just what I need as I mate was klled last week and this trip down memory lane is just what I need.
