There is something about this man that makes me go all weak at the knees when he performs. Whether it's singing or just playing his music. Helen is one very lucky lady!
Richard is one of the most greatest performers I've ever seen live & I spent a good 40 to 50 mins with him after his gig in Birmingham glee club talking about various things & I can tell you that he is so down to earth & what a pro at what he does.he also knows how to make you feel welcome in his company.what a great night Richard & thankyou for spending time with Sally who is now 89 years old she still loves you.we hope to see you soon ?
I've had this song on my phone for so long now - and now seen this live version - sounds perfect! How come I missed this Later... ? Thanks for sharing!!
Mine too! Cannot believe he is not more well known, though in America good stuff is always overlooked, while shit rules the airwaves. Buy Cole's Corner and Lady's Bridge and you won't be disappointed! I love the song Bad Woman he sings with AM.
This blokes in a league of his own. Fuck, he may not be very commercial but his musics the best out there at present. I also saw him up in newcastle, and i was blown away by his sound, exactly like the records. Should have been around in the fifties and he couldve been a legend.
was at concert in abc glasgow was superb.the music was excellent even richard seemed to enjoy himself with some good humour between songs.has anyone ever heard him on the radio single after single seems to get ignored by all the stations.
I was there too :) & Radio 2 play him quite a lot. I've heard 'Tonight The Streets Are Ours', 'Serious', 'Valentine', 'Coles Corner' & 'Born Under A Bad Sign' on there.
Saw these guys at the Corn Exchange on their tour - really excellent. Richard writes good songs and also the band that backs him is really tight, really good. And whoever does their sound, wow - was so well set up, and from the looks of it that place must have been a bitch to EQ right. They were top notch, buy the album, I'd totally reccomend as a live act too..

yeh mika shit holeface will win you can predict it and bet all your money and toffees on it!!! i'd bet my last marsbar! hawley as won in our eyes eh!!think we should all write to mute records to say nevermind mate if it goes to mankymika
the saddest thing about all this is he'll probably lose out at the brits to that fucking mika. hopefully even mika will know how much of an injustice that is.
yesterday i was deiving in a winter storm of rain & wind , when suddenly i heard this wonderful song that pulled at the cords of my heart...and suddenly, life was just fine - i was singing along quite loudly. When finished, i called up the station to ask who performed this wander.thank you, thank you Richard Hawley!!!!!!!!
Heard this on the radio the other night and something just drew me to the song coz although I had never heard of Richard Hawley I actually remembered the song and his name when I got up. He is brilliant
Idle 80 is spot on. In an era of shallow lazy music, we have a rare talent who writes and plays from the heart. Saw him at the sage, cant wait for feb '08
couldnt agree more, I saw this performance and that got me into him, now am going to see him in York next Month and cant wait. His music stirs up all kinds of emotions.
Ah, I love him. (& topher1889, you must be right - I'm fifteen) I love this quote from him: 'I turned on the radio and it just did my head in. All the songs on it were, like, that deep... Like an After Eight mint.'
Beautiful music, beautifully played. An artist that that transcends time and trends. A genuine talent, Hawley reaffirms my almost forgotten love affair with music.
my dad got me into richard hawley, at 23 and my dads 49 what i love about richard is he reaches out to such a vast age group and that fact is hes from SHEFFIELD!!
Best lyrics I've heard in a long time. It's so sad I've just met his music, thanks to Banksy!

How did he hurt his lip? I had a bad dog bite like this and I always wondered if I would sound the same (I do). Anyone know how he got it?
lockergr 2 years ago
I think he has a cleft palette or a hair-lip. It's a birth defect.
