@thestore2010 Th east coast had a raw sound, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Sacred Reich, Toxik, Laaz Rockit, they were pretty raw in the 80's

@TheSharmain I'd guess because the two bands are not remotely similar (melodeath and thrash), and likely wouldn't be covered in/heard of in the same places. If you think they are similar simply by them both being female fronted, you should listen to both more closely.

clean and digital.In the 90's that started happening I reckon.Sometimes there's

nothing better than plugging ya guitar straight into ya TUBE amp(maybe a few FX pedals)

and just playing and recording like that without all the digital bullshit.Technology is not

gonna make you better guitar player, your ears are.I suppose new music trends today

means new sounds instead of 'sounds like'.

@THRASHFKINFILLETS I like good production, but i hate it when they buff it up in the studio. I don't want to be bad quality where the music suffers but i don't want to be overproduced. I think they should just play live in the studio and leave as is.

@thestore2010 are you sure? Somehow bands like Slayer and Metallica got a cleaner sound as they already made out their fame, but bands of the "second wave" had a sound as dirty as teutonic thrash bands. Check out bands like Morbid Saint, I'm pretty sure Testament's debut sounds raw too, but I might have to listen to it again :p

Why does everybody hate on arch enemy on the holy moses videos? They're different genres of metal. Why don't you say holy moses beats out evanescence or nightwish? They're metal bands with female singers.

Wikipedia can't even decide what genre Evanescence is, so I'm not going to take a teenager's word for it that it's not metal when big music magazines have said otherwise.

And duh Nightwish is very different in spite of being a sub-genre of metal. That was the point.

And I like how you imply that if I don't agree with you about Evanescence than I couldn't possibly be a metal fan. Way to poison the well. It's possible to describe a lot of Evanescence as metal, and people who know a hell of a lot more about music than you do have done so.
