The military is protected by the "Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act" which states that if a service member fails to pay a bill due to service related circumstances they are legally protected until that service related circumstance comes to an end. All military personell gets a letter in this reguard before deployment to show to who they please as a warning. Oh, and 3/4 of our military identifies as "conservative and vote as such. I am a vet but on SocSecurity. Got out in 76, so I used GI Bill long ago. Became disabled recently. I always worry about my brother and sister vets. You should have a VA county commission in your area, called Veterans' Assistance Commission. They might help a LITTLE on the financial side. See if your state has money for vets' scholarships; check state gov website. Make sure you do FAFSA online (FAFSA[dot]gov). Let me know what happens.

How much money do average soldiers and officers make as opposed to defense contractors? It seems like all of the waste and pork in defense spending is the result of wasteful and unnecessary weapons programs. Would it not make more sense to reduce the number of government contractors in order to cut defense rather than cutting the pay of soldiers?

Our meals are supposed to free whether or not we are deployed. And a "food stipend instead of pay" is not even accurate. Combat/hazard duty pay comes on top of regular pay. Money goes direct deposit to the bank account, so the families can keep going. The government is planning to starve the families of all active duty personnel.

Our meals are supposed to free whether or not we are deployed. And a "food stipend instead of pay" is not even accurate. Combat/hazard duty pay comes on top of regular pay. Money goes direct deposit to the bank account, so the families can keep going. The government is planning to starve the families of all active duty personnel.
