Had Obama been as realistic as Ford in his SOTU, he might have saved face. Instead he spouts out his typical positive nonsense when the US is far worse off than they were in 1975.
Ridiculous. It's like spending far more than your income every year and racking up debt, but still purchasing things that you don't even need. But if you smile and throw your money at "change", everything will be good.
I really hope Americans don't vote him in again next term.
@StarshipPoopers1 i agree. obama should of spoken the truth instead of sugar coating everything. gerald ford was the only republican my liberal parents ever voted for.
A good American president who got screwed over by Nixon's nonsense. He was pushed into an office he didn't want, yet accepted and did what he could to restore some sense of "normalcy" in the country.
What I like most is that he was honest and blunt; we need more of that in today's political discourse. Too many people today like being sweet talked (want to hear certain things, regardless of whether or not it's the truth), yet complain when the said act never occurs.
@gunzrkewl yea i know. he spoke the truth and the country appreciates him now but we hated him back then.

@hojoleon comparing today's debt to the debt of 1975 is really misguided and stupid. Have you every heard of something called inflation.
