I would've liked it if the skull barrier you get could protect you from enemy fire and hit enemies multiple times with the skulls surrounding you until the enemies die. Making it a real weapon of death.
Hmm. that seems like a reference to Super Mario Land, the Superball cannons. Also the way the balls bounce around(that's what she said) reference super mario land.
Using uncharged shots only on the Skeleton Joes makes things even more hectic in the first Dr. Cossack level, where you have to dodge Upndowns at the same time!
How do you keep Skullman in that pattern? I started it but something went wrong while I was jumping bullets and he jumped and ran into me. Waah! I almost had him too.
I tried to perfect Skull Man himself, there 's a really easy pattern to dodge his shots.after you jump over him, thne slide once and keep running forward and jump as soon as he fires his second bullet.then he fires the third one upwards
I heard in this stage that if you jump' he shoots i think and if you start running or shoot i think he runs or jumps. Im not sure if its right i just know he does somethin if you do somethin. If you just stand there he will do the same. He will just stand there like hes up for a staring contest hehe.
Alternate song idea: Alice In Chains, "Them Bones."
It occurs to me that, story-wise, Skull Man should have been the designed MM killer (though aren't they all, really, post-reprogramming?). After all, besides the fact that he gives MM more trouble than Ring Man does, there's the whole "Grim Reaper" motif going on.
Outtakes like this are quite amusing for the viewer. XD They can see your doom coming, and then BAM! There it is~ That was indeed quite the round-about way of hitting you, but there you go.
I've got a problem. I've got 500 points left on my wii shop channel account, and I'm going to buy a mega man game with it. (I've already got mega man 3.) Which game should I buy? Help me, wise dragon!
I'm actually not sure which MM games are up on Virtual Console at this point. I want to say it's just 1 - 4 so far? If you already have 3, I'd say go with 4. The original game, it's decent, but suffers the "first game" syndrome, and 2, well... It's a good game, but a bit overrated, it's quite a broken game.
To each their own ;) I personally feel like 2 was one of the worst, just from how horribly unbalanced it was, plus having two bosses that REQUIRE a specific weapon in the Wily stages, in the days before W Tanks.
I guess because the overpowering metal blade, made the game unbalanced, but it's still a great installment compared to the 1st, which has hard; but no harder than 9 or 10. I like the fact that it requires specific weapons. Get you to think which works and which doesn't
@RoahmMythril Mega Man 2 has its horrifying moments, but it also has one of the most endearing soundtracks of them all, in my opinion. Also, Bubble Man is my favorite robot master, if only for the looks XP
You mentioned the design changes between this Skull Man and his Net Navi counterpart.. I believe this is because in Megaman 4, they were going more with a Shotaro Ishinomori design. For those not in the know, Shotaro created the Kamen Rider series. In between that series Shotaro created a one shot Manga called "The Skull Man" which was one of the first Manga Anti-heroes and became highly popular. If you compare the two designs, you can see the similarities.
@Duskool - It's a curved blade, held in one hand, used for threshing grain. It appears on the flag of the USSR, crossed by a hammer, as the original symbol when the USSR was still together (not sure if it's still in use on the Russian flag). That symbol, for a lot of people, came to represent communism.
I believe I found a way to break the random number generater in MM5. Much like you did in that last outake I collected a crap ton of 1-ups playing through the game. In the 8 robot master stages I collected 31 extra lives. 13 were in stone man's long level alone. Avged 2-3 in the other levels. I have saved stated the game and have a crazy feeling that number will just get crazier in the proto and wily stages. I beat stone man first so something I did in his level likly broke RNG for good
The way I hear it, not all of MMIV's robots were built by Cossack. Ring Man, I think, was one of the ones that wasn't; but Skull Man WAS. Maybe Wily set the whole thing up out of anger over trademark infringement?
The 1up Curse is a running joke between me and my friends, as we frequently, while attempting our various videos, have been taunted by the random number generator deciding to drop a 1up right as we messed up, such as Kit getting delayed in his speedruns, or me getting hit during my perfect runs.
One day, I started the fight with SkullMan, but didn't press a single button. Then, I got to bed, and next day, I woke up and SkullMan was still there!
He kept up the entire night! I think it's because he's a skeleton...
@Incathelizard - No he shouldn't. SkullMan is a very unique boss, by the fact that he only starts the fight when you move. I didn't press anything before going to sleep, so I wasn't moving, so he wasn't moving as well.
In other words, don't move a muscle and SkullMan will do the same. It's a staring contest.
@Enzo000000000, same thing happened to me, except I didn't press a button for an entire month. Then I got insane and decided to plan an all-out attack against him on day 49.
Right, I've looked into it, Shagg uses an Adaptec Gamebridge, but alas it's too pricey for me currently. I'll probably ask for one for Christmas at least.
Indeed true, I like Miyu, she's cool. And yes, Cossack is Russian, you can tell from his onion dome laden citadel, Kalinka's style of dress, and, well, the fact that he's named for a Russian dance.
I granted also quite liked Yahoot and MagicMan. I liked that in later episodes in the anime, they were sort of good guys. MagicMan was probably one of my favorite Navis, in Battle Chip Challenge, I usually kept him as my Navi of choice.
All of the former W3 turned goodguy after Wily left. Maddy's attitude still didn't change even if she was on Lan's side. Also, Mr. Match was the better of the three original group, even better than Elecman and his Net-op. His name escapes me ATM for some weird reason.
Yeah, the main World Three, there was Mr. Match (Hinoken) and FireMan (TorchMan in english dub) / HeatMan, Ms. Madd (Maddy, or Madoi) and ColorMan (WackoMan in the english dub for whatever reason... grr pointless name changes), Count Zap (Elec Hakushaku) and ElecMan, and Yahoot (Mahajarama) and MagicMan.
Oh yes, Count Zap. No wonder I couldn't remember his name. Atleast they made Elecman look better. One of the only characters that I couldn't stand was Mr. Higgins with his constant use of the word "huh" at the end of every one of his sentences.
Don't you think the Skeleton Joe room (and the forgettable Super Ball Cannons, early on) would make this a 4?
Yeah, that is exactly why the 1up Curse is invalid in this, and in 6. MM6 is so ridiculously generous with it's 1ups, it's nearly impossible to Game Over.
I vote in favor of ChargeMan!
And here's a fun idea, in case you do wrap around to doing Wily levels - how about NO-buster runs? Special weapons only! o.~
The Superball Cannons aren't too bad if you just keep in mind to keep firing. As for the Skeleton Joes, the only reason I didn't give them more points is that you really can destroy them, that makes the rooms far easier.
Shagg was right, this was a good Robot Master to finish the run on. Impressive dodging with the early-end skull barriers an in the sunset room. Good luck on "Nalpam" Man when you choose to go after him.
XD I do adore glitches. The worst glitch in MMIV occurs in the next-to-last Wily stage. After you beat Dr. Wily, and he takes off in his saucer, you can take him out in one shot with your Rain Flush... However, this also will end your game because, somewhy, MegaMan requires Dr. Wily to exit before he can. In other words, you'll be stuck in the room with no means of escape. XD
Enjoy your break. Another nice set of videos. Your early assessment of Mega Man 5 surprises me a bit, but I guess the stages themselves are no easier. It's the robot masters themselves that I think take a drop off in difficulty from this point on. I guess we'll see.
