I did Time at stateville in the early 70s, and 80s. Got sent there three times. Never did more then 2-1/2 each bit. Saw a lot of blood spilled. Saw guards get carried out on stretchers. Most of them deserved it. I`m 67 yesrs old now. Got my life together. What I learned wasthis. I will never disrespect myself where I will put myself in the position where I am told when to get up,what I can eat,and everything else the free world has to offer.

I know people might call me a bleeding heart and whatnot, but it seems to me ridiculous to me to spend tens of thousands of dollars per inmate just to lock them up like this day after day. If you're not going to execute murderers (and I am happy about that), then you have a duty to make sure you're not being cruel. Put them to productive work in a secure environment and pay them money that is then sent to their families or the families of their victims. The least bad might even be rehabilitated!

i live in joliet and i drive by stateville all the time. some people have been asking about the couple different prisons they mention. stateville is in joliet illinois and the cook county lockup is actually in chicago. there was also the old joliet jail ( where they filmed prison break) but that place has been closed for a while.

In a russian prison you have to worry about the guards who have full authority to kill you if they see fit. Also the russian prisons do have a much stricter code of conduct as far as how the inmates are allowed to treat guards, so it depends on your outlook, russian prisons are safer as long as you follow the rules, cause they know if they attack another inmate or guard theres a high likelihood of being shot

If you go to prison in illinois you have to go through the r&c unit here aka the bull pin. I had to stay at the r&c for 30 days before I was moved down state. Its not bad worst part is the bus ride cause they keep them so cold

I mean think about it people are put in a dangerous environment and have to stay there for years. by the time they come out they have a PHD in many different areas of Criminal acts. If you go to prison in illinois you have to go through the r&c unit here aka the bull pin. I had to stay at the r&c for 30 days before I was moved down state. Its not bad worst part is the bus ride cause they keep them so cold
