There are many female comedians who are better than Higgins, none of them Irish. The fact of the matter is female Irish comedians aren't funny! There are some quality Irish actresses/performers, yer one who played Mrs Doyle in Father Ted comes to mind, Pauline McGlynn or something, and others too. Maeve is a talentless moron, like 99% of the so called funny people RTE employ, the only redemption they have is The Savage Eye, but even thats gonna run out of material soon. I'm not a fan of J Byrne but I think Maeve is really funny. It probably helps if you know people from Cork to get her humour fully.

I wouldn't recommend falling back on the 'ur not from cork, u wouldn't understand' argument. That usually doesn't go down so well outside the peoples republic.

I'm not from cork, I don't think J Byrne is funny (in fact I think most comedians operating in Ireland are kinda rubbish, and the standup scene, while it makes some money, is full of itself, and very lacking in quality standup.) but Maeve, shes alright y'know. I think shes pretty smart, and funny in a far more insightful way then others

Go away! People like Maeve Higgins and Jason Byrne should have a sell by date. The schtick is done, and it's now worn. Realise that ye're unfunny people and whatever spin-offs attempted after a year in the 'limelight' from originally poor shows won't make you anymore worthwhile.
