  • God, Emily. You and the guys are so fucking amazing. I'm actually close to tears that your music is so fucking good! Stay together forever, coz bands that break up always go onto failure. You're an amazing musical team when you're together.

  • @xmaster2 stop pretending like you know the band, you probaly wikied her name. of course bands that break up go on to failure, retard. Stop making fucking comments just to get thumbs up. also nobody thumbs up this post please.. leave the thumbs up for the trully good comments.

  • @zettelboi What the hell? Grow up. I've been a fan of the group for the past 3 years. And isn't that what I just said? Bands that break up always go onto failure. Deal with that chip on your shoulder before trolling through youtube.

  • @zettelboi are you upset now?

  • @xmaster2 id actually love to see some more of her solo stuff...emily haines and the soft skeleton was amazing...i fall asleep to it almost every night... :)

  • This song takes me on a journey every time I hear it. The melody moves through me. The lyrics free my soul.

  • lame vid

  • great song!!

  • Did anyone read the authors comments lol fail....

  • I really love this song and this video matches it pretty well.

    Good Job!

    :D

  • Comment removed

  • @DunDunDun45 you should get that looked at. It does not sound pleasant, at all.

  • this is great!

  • Reminds me a bit of Anya Marina. Whatever , this IS good !

  • this is the weirdest video! did u take this footage for the music video?

  • A very interesting video. I like it.

    Plus, Metric is absolutely incredible!

  • Children are more interesting than adults, sometimes.

  • @Mattprole you sound like a pedophile lol just sayin

  • waa crei q era el video oficial... =(

  • This song is pure genius.

  • I thought the video was extremely well done! so unlike most videos of today, this was simply clips that fit with the mood of the song, perhaps with a story somewhere.

  • well i liked it.

  • You're very talented.

  • You know what, faggots?

This is about the only official (music video type) style on youtube. The only other shit is pretty much LIVE. and that sucks.

So shut up about the video if you don't like it, and just Listen.

  • Dude this isnt official at all.even compared to the live shit.its less official.

  • Yeah? Well, what about the part that this is the ACTUAL audio played with the music video? It's much better than live shit.

  • if you think the live shit sucks, than your not a fucking fan of the music

  • unfortunately thats complete bullshit sir. A lot of bands suck live, but they make their music better with audio equipment and special effects that they cannot reproduce in a live show. So you can be a fan and not like to listen to them live. I happen to love Coheed in Cambria, but when they played a show live in my city they blew because they didn't have the right effects.

  • @Jclelandfilms

No. I'll elaborate on what Brody said.

When people play live, that's what the really sound like. So if you listen to them live and don't like it, you're not an actual fan of that band.

If you ONLY like the studio mixes, then you're a fan of that music. But the studio mixes may sound completely different from when they're live. So since the band uses so much special effects, you're a fan of what they produce (not the band) because what they produce isn't actually them.

  • @jakebearsrawr i cannot agree with you , because you say the real sound is the sound live but it's totally wrong . every band work to do a good CD , and when they record it, they work a lot on the sound, and make it like they want it , right ? they record it to have the sound they have in their ind .

  • @Trystelune

It's not TOTALLY wrong.. That's their voice, their guitar, with proof of no added effects.

That's the natural music they make.

Yeah they can work on the cd, but that may not actually be them (with effects). It could be good but you have no proof its their natural voice and etc..

  • @jakebearsrawr

The band produces the music, either live or studio. You can be a fan of the band either way - don't complicate simplicity. You can't hold it true to Metric though, since they will sometimes drastically play some of their songs different live, they probably get bored of playing it a certain way - their songs evolve and change.

  • No, it means they aren't a fan of them live

Some people just don't like live music

It isn't because they're stupid or bad fans, it's because they have a preference

Shut the fuck up because you can't understand that

  • I'm saying live shit recorded here on youtube. I'm not saying live shit anywhere.

  • umm.. is there supposed to be some sort of message in the video?

  • The song is dope but im sorry this video is wack as hell

  • this is a really good video. People, it isn't professional and I doubt you could do any better

  • Holy shit! Who would have thought that a persons first effort would generate so much attention! Damn! This person did this 'off the cuff and on a whim'. Damn good, if ya ask me. Emily would appreciate the rawness, simplicity, and randomness of this video. After all, that is what Metric's music is really all about. Life, in its very raw form. Not all glamed up and phony!

  • Good song with a video from The Ring.

  • the video was kinda depressing but still good video.

  • Dude I agree. This shits kinda creepy.

  • HOLY shit this video is fucking CREEPY as heck manng!

totally reminds me of that cursed video from 'The Ring'

dude now im kinda freaked out.

  • yeah!! me too!! i totally thought the exact same thing!! especially the chair, of course...

  • Few years later? What are you talking about? The Police and The Private is from 2005 and this vid was posted in 2006...

  • 2:54

seriously, learn to sleep in kids,

    best decision you'll ever make.

  • this is geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey

    holy shit....this kinda sucks,

hahahahaha thats some stinky cheese M***A F***AS

  • say yes to prepubesent children?

  • lol i could so see the day when this vid was made. hey litl bro and friends pretend your orphans so i can tape you.

  • rofl :p

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @pondslime I see this comment every time I listen to this song, and die of laughter each time hahha

  • @pondslime LMAO.. !

  • this video is crazy

  • Lovely song.

  • I think the basketball is like a metaphor for something relating to the lyrics guyz so don;'t be too hard on it yet. I'm just trying to figure it out

  • It's not bad. If you don't like it just shut up.

  • The biggest thing missing from this video is a point. What's the point of these mopey looking children? What's the point of the bouncing basketball? Does it even relate to the lyrics in the song?

  • well at least they are trying to do something creative.. dont criticize when you havent tried i doubt you could do much better... keep it up milkkitty

  • People actually watch the video?

  • it doesn't do justice to a great song.

  • Simply terrible.

  • This is really bad. It doesn't work with the song.. And it's not THAT creative. It's just children looking creepy and a stupid basketball with special effects that were on your iMac video maker.

A monkey with down syndrome could do this.

  • I feel bad for your parents because they have to live with the fact that thier daughter is the worst video designer on this side of the world, GIVE UP NOW, and when people defend you its hilarious, you can see symbols

  • aww, that was fucked up. if i was the girl and read this comment, i would have started crying in my room. but thats because im a little bitch. she really shouldnt have put this up. :(

  • to be honest, i actualy kinda liked ur video

it was rly creative, in a artsy way.

I like it, very good =)

  • This was fantastic man, absolutely loved every second of it. You have a great eye for symbols.

  • I like this a lot.

  • what are you on?

  • EJILITY why don't you make a better one, if you dare to.

  • LMFAO

  • extremely pathetic.

sure this wasnt an amazing video but it's not too bad and at least they tried.

why would you stop listening to a band because of a fan made video?

    seriously

  • You can't say it's pathetic and immediately say it wasn't too bad. What's wrong with you? Don't make stupid comments.

  • no, i was saying the people saying they now wont listen to metric because of this are pathetic and the video isnt too bad.

  • love this

  • love this song!

feel like the video would have been better if it didn't have the timestamp

  • i love how the poster of this video says that he "did" everything... lol.

  • i love this song

    great video!

  • lovely music all their songs are

  • this video creeps me out

  • love this song! original and live version.

    metric <3

  • how did you get that old effect going?

  • this video is friggin awesome

    thanx so much for posting!

  • this was really good, but it could've been amazing if the actors were any good

  • is this supposed to be like a metaphor for something, because i dont get it

will someone explain to me the basketball, plz?

  • From what I understand the person who made this video doesn't even know what a metaphor is.

I don't mean to sound like an ass but this video has no point of reference and has nothing to do with the song.

  • funny how the people that criticize others dont submit or contribute anyhting on their you tube themselves. your critic has no weight in that respect

  • maybe they have better things to do? ;)

  • no reason to be a buzz kill man if you dont enjoy it move on with your life

  • 1:18 reminds me of a ninja or something, nvm

  • it reminds me of an ugly girl i once saw

  • ahaha

  • I'm still lawzing at 55 seconds.

  • its the message that has signifigance nothing more is important.. though , if you want to talk appropriate.. how about a picture of americans ( dont really matter who you are) waiting oto be loaded on to trains and sent to concentration camps by their own government.

  • I just don't like the 55 scene with the ball

    it lacks

  • Wow...

  • gay video,

    great song

  • Great visuals. It looks very professional, and congratulations on the great video.

  • I just love this song. and that's a ******* good video...

  • I didn't really see a clear connection between the video and the song... then again, I'm not even entirely sure what the song is supposed to be about, so maybe I shouldn't talk ^^; All I know is that I found the video pretty creepy for some reason, what with the malnourished kids and the random, vaguely Ring-esque ladder :o

  • The video just seems so metric-y like they made it themselves. Really great job, do more!

  • i love this song x3

  • love it love it

  • good job good sog.

You need to Continue with more scenes and plan.

  • I'm not smart enough to understand the imagery, so I shouldn't criticize because of that. I liked the rest of the video - it really does look like an official video! I pictured it as being more urban though - all of Metric's music sounds very nighttime urban, like Evanescence, but not that intense. However, you still seemed to make it work with a suburban, kind of rural video. Good job! Do more Metric videos!

  • this song is the best, but the kids in this video look malnurished and depressed. if i lived thses people i would commit suicide

  • song = unreal

    video = shit-tacular

  • thnx =)

  • does anyone know which album this song is off of?

  • Live it Out c:

  • fuck i lovbe metric...its fucking music

  • one of metrics best

  • There are all unique I would say. Each song of Metric is surprising. Not a music you can listen to on heavy rotation.

  • bullshit on that one- i could listen to metric for a month straight

  • "1:29...." hahahahahaha

don't quit your day job, sweetie. this was the first time I heard the song and you completely ruined it for me you sadistic try-hard. I hope you never make another video again. the shots sucked, the kids looked like fags and the chick in the graveyard needs new glasses. maybe you should've tried some original ideas instead of making a cliche home-video that looks like some pathetic attempt at a scary movie. this "movie" is a shit-stain on the underwear of film.

  • Like you would know what good film making is all about. I doubt it, if you think this film crap. I don't know why you even took the time to write such an ill informed critique of this film. I obliviously enjoy showing your ignorance. :P

  • Yes I definitely enjoy showing my ignorance, that's why I wrote obliviously instead of obviously. don't presume to think you understand me and how much I know or don't know about film. You don't know so much as my name, much less the number of people in my life immersed in film programs and winning scholarships for them. I know about decent films, and this isn't included in that catagory. sorry if my opinion upsets you.

  • I don't presume to understand you. I really don't care to. But when you critique a first video and that critique is wholly unconstructive, that does upset me. Besides, if you knew anything about Metric and their approach to art and music, you would understand how this film very much reflects that approach. As for your opinion, as they say, "like assholes, everyones got one."

  • I wasn't critiquing it, I was insulting it. Where did I say I was critiquing anything? I'm pretty sure I didn't. I'm not a hardcore Metric fan but I do listen to their music and I know a bit about them and this video was completely out of left feild... this video has nothing to do with the song. Anyways, you're starting to get really annoying so I'm done arguing with you. I bet there's a million other people on youtube that would be ecstatic to discuss art and music with you.

  • I like the video because! it has nothing to do with the music. Music happens where it takes place. Your mind connects the memories with the music. It is all about pictures, images & memories.

  • Oh my god I was laughing so hard when I saw this comment. You think I was trying that hard? I was having fun with a new editing program I had at the time (sucky program by the way) By the way, make fun of it all you want (I do all the time) But those happen to be my friends and family, and they're quite proud to be in it for some reason. Oh and I like metric, but hate this song.

Why does it look like a scary movie?

  • I bet you were laughing really hard. out loud. that's something that definitely probably happened.

  • whoever made this owns me three minutes and fifteen seconds of my life back. way to ruin a great song asshole

  • The video looks stupid. Oh look a ladder. Gasp! A basketball! Wow. Throw in more obscurity and meaninglessness next time. How about a blind starving frog with a top hat and monacle going to buy cotton candy from a janitor. No wait. That might make more sense.

  • Reminds me of "the ring" Seven Days to Live Video xD

  • This is really good.

  • The video seems too...literal.

But the song is good. :3

  • to awesome as well wonky

  • 1:29...

  • Wow :)

  • great imagery, could have been better timing.

  • this is trueee!! I LOVE IT

  • GREAT vid, really good acting, directing, filming, and editing. very original. The one tip i have is that the first colour shots seemed a little too suddenly bright. But other than that, great use of light too.

  • W-O-W good job :)

  • wow this video really scares me. the last line is really scary and the imagry of those kids reminds me of this documentary i watched about the life of bosnian orphans.

i think i found some new meaning to my pitiful existance.

maybe if we write the celebrities will start adopting.

  • I really loved the video, very original. Loved it, great job!

  • not bad..its not insanely original though lets be honest..

i think you were holding back a little

  • Wow, did you just say that?! Ha, Being a Canadian, i can say without a doubt that we aren't poor at all. Metric is also a band that has done very well, idie doesnt mean "Poor"

  • This isn't metrics video, it is fan made, read the description.

  • Metric isn't even Canadian, you dick!

  • OMG ano!

  • Yes they are, you vagina. Emily is canadian but she was born in India.

  • Yeah, I kinda got carried away with that one.

Thanks for calling me a pussy. :)

  • idk if you're being sarcastic, but sorry for calling you one

  • Np. I don't mind. As a matter of fact, I kinda consider it a compliment, in a way.

  • Yes I know she was born in india Ima big fan :D
