@in2food - "Not a photographer. More of an electronic artist..."
What's yr point? By your logic Ansel Adams wasn't a real photographer, but a darkroom chemist. Learn some facts about photography, digital and analog alike, before spouting off like a moron about things you obviously are ignornant of.
That being said... this is sooooo Hollywood-stupid... *yawn*
Does anyone know if there is any literature on Jill Greenberg. I know she has Bear and Monkey portrait books, but is there anyone else out there about her? I need resources for a presenation.
I think the crying pictures were not meant to make a controversy and be different, she just wanted to make pictures that people will look at. Not all beautiful photography is flowers. It's all about making people look twice at a photo.
So she's not really a photographer so much as she is a Photoshop expert. She must not have a great eye for a shot. Not to mention her unethical methods of obtaining photos.
@anglocowboy - She is very much a photographer. The art of creating photographic images has ALWAYS involved post-processing. Today it's just done on a computer instead of in a darkroom.
You really should learn what you're talking about before pretending like you know about photos and what is or isn't photography.
That being said... imnsho she isn't a great photographer. Just a Hollywood hype effects monster **yawn**
noting her apparent underhanded ways in dealing with mccain does not make one a republican. i've commented on her sleazy ways and would do so again if she did this to clinton, obama, or anyone else.
She is an artist and did what she wanted to do with the photos of McCain. I Think they were great and everyone is being waaaaay too sensitive about it. The political ads that John McCain is running against Obama are much worse than these photos.
As a democrat, a PROFESSIONAL photograher, and basically a trusting human being, I was disgusted with her pathetic excuses for doing what she did. McCain should sue her, The Atlantic should sue her, and no respectable magazine or any other publication should ever hire her again. THE MANIPULATOR is just as evil as FOX NEWS or HUSTLER magazine, er wait, at least HUSTLER magazine doesn't try to deceive its audience.
What Jill did with McCain's photos desevers an award. It's as though she had reached into that lying DEMONS soul and exposed him for what he is, a bloodthirsty warmongerer. LMAO!
Yes- being unprofessional and betraying the trust of a magazine and the person being photographed to promote your personal political agenda definitely deserves an award. It's good to know people like you and Jill, who are obviously well informed and don't have cliché', one dimensional views about politicians, are watching out for that evil warmonger. LMAO!
To present yourself as a freelance photographer so that you can later post their picture in a vile way to promotoe your own ideals - well then again she is a Democrat.
I find it interesting starting at 1:28 how her facial features expose her feelings at the moment. It's obvious she hates Bush (and Republicans for that matter). She hesitates when she says George Bush, her head bows down as if knowing that it's a touchy subject and that some folks may not agree with her.
Her brows rise and eyes close when she says he was reelected to four more years expressing disdain with her eyelids then fluttering and rolling eyes to the top left when she says second term.
Did all of you haters grow up not crying as kids? I'm sure most of you got made fun of at one time or another. Did the play ground bully in your younger years screw up your life? Get over it! You do not have to look at the photos if you don't like what you see.
If I could find your address I'd send your monkey book back to you and pay you to keep it...I'm sure glad we have freedom of speech so you can show everyone around the world how classy you are...your art WAS beautiful... now it's dispicable, what a waste. All I see now is a sorry little hate monger. What a great role model for your kids.(in reference to your political soapbox.)
Photographers make me laugh when they try to act like legitimate artists. I would love to see some of her drawings...maybe she is legit, I don't know.
If she can draw well, then she deserves to be all high and mighty about her photos. Face it, photography is not even close to drawing and painting as far as real work is concerned.
Then you obviously don't have a clue as to what goes into creating photographic artwork. I'm not belittling drawing and painting (as I do both), but photography most certainly is a beautiful art form.
What a silly thing to say, and what a narrow-minded view of what "art" is. Photography is a legitimate and wonderful art form. I hope you can open your mind a little more some day. Oh, and Greenberg's work is fantastic!
A couple went out to dinner and they hired a babysitter. The babysitter called up the couple and asked if she should cover the clown statue in the kids room. The father said, "Get out. Take the kids. We'll call the cops." The clown statue was actually a serial killer. Post this on ten videos or the clown will appear over your bed at 3 AM
Well making kids cry they'll get over it, but training monkeys is an excessively cruel enterprise actually and although the portraits are great, is it really worth it to support that?
"Making a living" by making children cry is peanuts compared to what Bush is doing to them for a living. They might as well get used to crying; they're going to be doing a lot of it.
I don't blame anyone for blocking president Bush's "reform" after the way he "refomed" the education system with "No Child Left Behind", or the way he "reformed" the deficit, bringing it to $9 trillion, or "reformed" American diplomatic relations... etc.
Put simply, social security has enough revenue to last to 2041. Now is not the time to be messing with it, and Bush is not the man.
I've alway been intrigued by the lighting/effects of Jill's photographs.
Any fans/ photographers wanna share any tips on how to achieve this...add me on FB.
