You are right. There a background noise, maybe at the time of recording. Good melody but donot prefer to have it in my favourites because of that noise.

He is a very good guitarist. Maybe this music is nice for people who find real flamenco too foreign, too demanding, and too rough. To understand the flamenco soul and culture takes a lot of time and effort for most people: and, of course, today people don't "have" time - it's a 15 second, fast food culture. I recommend (youtube) Familia Montoya, Juerga Flamenca, Paco and Camaron to anyone who seriously wants to open his heart and soul to gitano culture. Be warned: contains extreme emotions!

Live shows are always different than studio music since the musician needs to stretch the song to give the audience their money's worth. I like the recorded song better - it has a better melody line and fewer tangents. But that is a genuine nylon string Flamenco guitar complete with wood tuners.

Flamenco my foot: just some (admittedly good) picados in 1/2 time played on steel string to make them sound crisper. Good percussion and base line, though. But Liebert is about as inspiring as a German sausage.

if you are referring to liebert's guitar, I do not believe those are steel strings...although this is not my favorite rendition of this piece, I do otherwise respect the greatness that is Ottmar Liebert!

I'm sure he probably plays nylon too, but the one in this video is steel. And music, like clothing and furniture is simply a matter of taste, so everyone enjoys different styles. The music is very mellow and pleasant to the ear, and probably great in its own way. But flamenco it is not I'm afraid.

In so far as this piece being flamenco or not, I have heard the term flamenco nouveau to describe his work i believe...but anyway, about the steel strings, Ottmar Liebert is definitely playing on a classical guitar, steel strings and classical guitars do not mix..the steel strings are generally to powerful and pull it apart (i have seen this myself)...but who knows...im not trying to be a dick, youre comment just picqued my interest...
