Abstract expressionism is a very important part of art history expessially in america after world war ll and during the cold war. In this era americans were terrified of nuclear weopons and the "last war". This idea was reflected in art. The final product was supposed to be ugly, and unsatidfying. It is conceptual and more about the process, and movement instead of the final piece. DO a little research and Stand in front of a 9'x17' pollack and you will understand.

Oh no worrries i didn't think it disrespectful, i just like to ensure people know that i'm sincere in what i do. i didn't sell this painting as it wasn't mine, i was part of a group commissioned by a local artist to produce a painting for her in this way. i found the footage from documentation she did for it, re-edited it slightly and made the soundtrack to go with it. i'm not that known beyond the local art scene haha, glad to hear you want to try some abstract painting yourself. Everything is art it is a stupid question to ask whether this is art or not...Your preference is completely yours...you can dislike anything you want, but to question what art is and isn't is extremely narrow-minded. XVI3000 is right in saying its about process. Abstract expressionists relied on different processes to create ranging points of view. With splatter painting its about the motion of the artist themselves, think of a painting like this as recorded dance, just with paint and not film.

See you're mixing up how little impact art truly has with the personal impacts it can make. To assume that a personal impact is a large impact is assuming that the individual has some value in this society.

There is no such thing as "Post-Modern" it is an overly-used term that describes very little that exists outside of the confines that is Modernism in the first-place. And I think it Naive to believe that nay of this is important. My opinion,Your Opinion, Any single-person's opinion...it has no meaning.
