  • Реформы интернета прогресируют

  • I want to persue a career as an actionscriptor. I wonder the future job outlook?

  • i dont get it -_-

  • @robertonator101 it shows a program to make flash stuff into HTML5 stuff so you can use it on no-flash gadgets like iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc.

  • I like flash because of its enviorment

  • this means in about 2 years this will be the best way to do animations for web...

i know programmers dont like flash...but hey... chill out.. Flash is here to stay and it gives more interactivity and options for the web than html...its the truth

  • Wooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • This video was what I needed for my html project. Thanks.

  • awesome

  • Working demo preview: Oct 2010; Tool launch: Mar 2011.. Why?

  • Great. Adobe should include a "Flash Import and Conversion" into DreamWeaver.

  • Add Action Script. Then I will use it.

  • If the pathetic company that is Apple would stop blocking Flash, Adobe wouldn't have to make such a useless piece of software. Adobe developers could work on more imaginative software.

The point is, you could never code all that fancy animation by hand in HTML5. You need Flash to do it. And if you need Flash to do it, then you don't need HTML5!

Grow up Apple! Do the right thing, and join the rest of every smart phone and tablet out there. Your products are becoming deprecated.

  • Flash is junk and you know it. Adobe is who should grow up. Adobe refuses to let go of their outdated and cumbersome Flash.

  • @haya1299 HAHAH ... that's awesome. You clearly have no idea how ubiquitous and pervasive and powerful Flash is on the internet. Newbie!

Apple products are slowly becoming deprecated. As new products allow users to access the entire Internet, Apple users will begin to resent the fact that game websites, pornography, animations, videos, google analytics, etc are ALL being blocked by Apple.

You keep protecting your precious Apple company. But the rest of us will enjoy the unfiltered Internet.

  • thumbs up is mac rumors brought you here :)

  • All flash nay sayers should just go die now. Adobe just pwned.

  • No support for actionsscript? Useless then ...

  • Does not work will all of my old .fla files

  • Nice Star Trek Duds

  • Hahahahaha flash is dead apple win again

  • Thank you Adobe!

  • LMAO at people cheering then he tells them this is what there really not trying to do.

  • Question

    1) how do i get HTML ? " Cant find it "

    2) what program was he using to do the animation? was it Adobe flash ?

    sorry... am new

  • @WaterMation08 "how do i get HTML ?" are you for real?

  • @WaterMation08 new at living?

  • @Time4Me2GoHARD haha no am just a kid that is stupid that should learn to keep his mouth shut

  • How can we know if every HTML5 compliant browser will render it EXACTLY the same way? It's not like browsers have had a good track record with this very thing.

  • Where can we get that app? What was its name? Wallaby?

  • Really cool stuff :)

  • I was wondering about two things:

    a) AFAIK, the flash licence allows you to export fla files, but does NOT allow you to import them. If I'm not mistaken, these guys are in for legal trouble.

    b) How long will it for Adobe to hire these guys or hire hitmen? :)

  • Steve Jobs' reality distortion fields have worked!

  • I...am...drooling. For basic photo galleries, and the like, this just rocks the Casbah! The applause @ 1:10 is WELL DESERVED.

  • instead i think this is a huge step forward. yes many divs there are. how many divs would you be using and how much work would this be if you try to do it by hand? besides being peissimistic, do you think this is the final stage of this conversion tool? i would say that in many cases there can be a lot of work for long animations, but what if you were to write something a little bit smaller? i feel there is always this negation towards Adobe Flash even trying, it's not good enough?

  • awsome!!!!

but flash rly sux everytime i go 2 southpark the brower crashes (with chrome it works now but the othe browsers always crashed)

  • Great job Adobe! We appreciate your efforts...

  • this is absurd. If you want flash-like animations for iPhone and the like use Sencha Animator instead

  • Size? System load? Pathetic attempt to make bullet from piece of shit.

  • Interview with Adam Cath from Catalyst team and another man from the Adobe Air team.

    /watch?v=dDobpny8cgI

  • Awesome! but it sucks it doesnt convert action script. Safari, Chrome, Firefox should support native actionscript. then 10 years later internet explorer follows xD.

  • Is it more efficient after being converted to HTML5?

  • @Zillionair1 Depends on the platform. I believe flash has good, hardware video acceleration on windows, but that might not be the case on OSX or Linux.

  • @Zillionair1 rarely. Converting code to another language will always cause worse performance that it would be if you were to remake it in its entirely. However, this reduction in performance can be so miniscule that it doesn't matter.

According to this demo it didn't seem to matter.

  • wow!!!

  • HTML5? ... hmmm Why use XHTML Strict then ?

  • @PornoGraaf All valid doctypes can be used in HTML5, in fact the XML serialisation of the HTML5 spec even allows you to use no doctype at all, and still render the page in standards mode.

Most people use the new short one because it's easy to type, but you can use any.

  • Great, generated code that is easy to edit /sarcasm.

This is bullshit. Also people using Windows for non .NET development is just plain retarded. And who the fuck uses Dreameweaver for serious front-end dev?

  • ActionScript developers are gonna be in high demand still.. I know HTML developers won't be too happy!

  • "and you dont need a high power device. It works on your iPhone"

  • Awesome!!!

  • He's in a Star Trek shirt because William Shatner was hosting. He took over for Leonard Nimoy who was sick.

  • Hey - if this works, Flash ain't goin' nowhere. I for one like this, as I think Flash is decent for doing animations. That said, I don't see any interactive elements...just animation. Maybe only non-interactive parts can be converted (which would make this pointless)

  • its about css, not about including graphics. they just want to bypass it.

its like i wanted to make a webpage look exactly as i want in a browser, that doesn't support my website.

compared to adobe, i would just go to my website, capture a video of it and embed it in my site and say it is optimized for this special kind of browser.

adobe is emulating flash, and you know that emulations are slow!

if there was a way to block that shit i would use it. its NOT faster than flash, its not CSS or HTML5

  • WOW!

@millerhbm: You are right but I think that is just a matter of time.

  • Flash developers are going nowhere!

  • please don't do that! use canvas, or keep flash player, but dont' oversaturate with non-content, non-semantic code.

Powerful, but bad idea at all

  • If it is HTML5 why the doctype is XHTML 1.0 strict? Check how many divs and inline images are being used. This isn't a step forward but a huge jump backwards... it's all about hype...

  • Comment removed

  • @millerhbm If you knew what HTML5 actually was (the specification not the buzzword), you'd be aware divs, inline images and XHTML 1.0 Strict DOCTYPE's are all allowed.

  • @curly95432 in fact I do know what HTML5 is.. and I even gave a presentation about it a couple months ago ( blog[dot]millermedeiros[dot]com/2010/07/html5-overview/ ) - it's not about of being allowed or not. it's because the code it generates is far from being HTML5 and "good".

  • @millerhbm Your presentation does look pretty decent. However, it seems to me the comment about (to which I originally replied) was written by someone other than the author of that presentation. Sure your account hasn't been compromised?

FYI, doctype is retained in HTML5 for backwards compatibility, to avoid quirksmode - it's no longer relevant as a type indicator though. The short doctype is used most often because it is easy to remember, but whatever doctype you choose to use is irrelevant

  • @millerhbm there is not so big number of tags or lines of code for this kind of animation. on first sight it seems ok for me.

  • @millerhbm doctypes are irrelevant. Browsers barely use them anyway. It's markup and use of the new APIs that matter.

  • Is he wearing a Star Trek outfit?

  • So it flickers and slow even in Chrome?

  • Wow! Its awesome.
