"Raymond Massey performed in the Play before this was made into a film; one of Lincoln's sons saw Massey in the play and met him & told him he sounded just like his father sounded."
A charming thought...but Robert Lincoln died 12 years before the play was written...
Hey, check out my video. If you don't believe in secession, then you believe in slavery, for you are for enslaving people to a government that they want no part of:
The Lincolns did not bitch at each other in public; and less often in private than is generally supposed. She was his temperamental foil, but they called each other Mr and Mrs Lincoln in public. She did not care for the way the press treated him, and often said so, but she did not give way to petulance in front of his supporters. She was too astute for that.

Raymond Massey worked with James Best in the Naked and the Dead (about Guadalcanal)...James Best (Sherriff Roscoe P. Coultrine) worked with actor Sonny Schroyer (Deptuty Enos) in the Dukes of Hazzard, and as a kid I knew Sonny Schroyer in Valdosta, Ga...these are my 6 degrees from Abraham Lincoln.
Maybe it was Lincoln's grandson who said that to Massey.

Huh. Y'know, I'd only ever seen Massey as Chauvelin, but he really, really looks like Lincoln.
I need to track this down, now. He looks to have done a fantastic job.

I've only seen him in Arsenic and Old Lace, playing the murderous, scary Boris Karloff lookalike Jonathan Brewster!
