This song always cheers me up. Every time I'm sad and I here this fine tune, it makes me smile. I love the lyrics too, in my point of view it kind of says to just fuck the world and to not give a shit about what anyone says. Good when you get rejected or something lol.
werd, i remember back in like 1996 or 1995 when i was in 4th grade iheadr this song on the radio, n it stuck in my head, all i could remember was, with my big black boots n my old suitcase, i kept hummin it over n over n my head, then i finnally found out what song it was, i was n a store 2day readin the latest high times n i heard this song come on, i had 2take my headphones off, n said werd, thats whats good
I made a song the other day, and then I sketched it, so I came up with a "music video" LOL I'd like you all to check it out and tell me what you think. it's a cartoon with some harsh lyrics. I'd like to get some feedback on that.

With my big lack boots and my suitcase I do believe I will find myself a new place. Great, Positive, Fun! We need this type of music back and slash music that does not suck so bad you cant turn on Radio. Live on Everclear:)
I think you have to be at least a teenager when a song comes out in order for it to be considered your generation's music. For this song, that would 1982 or older. It doesn't mean you can't remember and like it, but it's not your generation. It would be like me trying to say that Led Zeppelin or Disco was my music because I was born in the 70s.
This is my Bf's youtube account, but I disagree totally with ur statement. I was 10 when this song came out, but i was popular for years after that.. I even saw them play this live when i was in highschool and it was AWESOME. This is the kind of song that elicits feelings in all who hear it....
@theminorsetback Everclear is a Gen-X band. Unless you're Gen-X, this isn't your generation's music. I'm glad you really like and are moved by their music, but you are Gen-Y. No matter how much you and others of your generation like them, they are always going to be associated with Gen X. I'm sorry if Lady Gaga and The Jonas Brothers are what your generation might be associated with in future history books, but that's just the way it works out sometimes.
@BigPoppaChump I was born in 95...So that means I'm Gen-X! And this isn't some clique, some faggot popularity contest from highschool. Music is music. So I like the beatles! Does that mean I'm from the 60s? NO. Do I have to be from the 60's to enjoy or appreciate the music? NO. You're pathetic, it's like you're laying claim to the music that you grew up listening to. Nobody gives a fuck dude (cept for me, because it pisses me off to see comments like this.) Immature little shit-dick...Fuck off.
@TheOlympiaLowlife Music is more then words and notes. It is a reflection and expression of a certain time and place. You like The Beatles and so do I, but we can never truly experience them the way Baby Boomers did. We'll never know the feeling of seeing them perform on Ed Sullivan and Beatlemania or the power "Revolution" had while the Viet Nam war and peace rallies were going on. You have to be certain age to "get" the full effect of a song and its era.
@BigPoppaChump I don't think these guys are following what you're saying. You are doing well to remain pleasant. I get what you're saying, it's not that you can't listen to music from "other generations", you are saying that music has associations with the time period in which it was released. That is pretty plain to see. It's too bad these folks are not catching on to that, it's a good point, and not at all derogatory. I think they are misunderstanding.
@TheOlympiaLowlife I don't think that's what he was saying. Seems like he's just saying music is associated with the period when it was released, not that anyone else can't listen to or enjoy it.
i was born in 95 so i dont remember the ninties but i love this era's music actually anything from about 55 onwards is pretty good until you get to rap(which in my opinion sucks) so yeah oh and i love my long hair(its cool) and flanel shirts are awesome
I was born in 1994, so I don't remember too much about the 90's. But what I do remember is a hell of a lot better than the world we live in today. I listen to these older bands because it brings me back to a time when my hardest decision was picking what color crayon I wanted to use.
god you youngsters know everclear ?! I was born in 1985 and when I was 13 I would listen to everclear's tape (yes tape!) everyday in my yellow walkman ! haha
god you youngsters know everclear ?! I was born in 1985 and when I was 13 I would listen to everclear's tape (yes tape!) everyday in my yellow walkman ! haha
Nostalgia is the term for what you're feeling. The 90's wasn't better. It was just the first thing you experienced. And the first things are always the best.
Born in 83 Remember the flannels, chain wallets and courderoys. Now I see rappers wearing flannels. I also see the emos and think man I remember when I thought my life sucked that bad. lol. Guess stuff does come back around every 20 years.
santa cruz, monterey, davenport, the lighthouse, the pier, 18th street, yacht harbour, the boardwalk...i miss them all so much. even tho everclear aren' t local, they make me feel like home. please keep on doing what you're doing, my friends.
Stupid kids.. "I was born in ( 89-95 ), and I remember these days!".. Shut up. If you thought work boots were completely acceptable to go to a formal dance in, if you wore your jeans until they ripped (instead of the pre ripped bull Sh*t they make today), if you thought wool sweaters made sense even in the summer, if plaid was a colour of choice NOT a pattern, if you thought long hair was cool again, you were a kid of the 90's.
@Scruuf Dude, i was born in '92; yet the whole bit about work boots, old jeans, long hair, and plaid still applies to me. Hence, according to your vaguely contradictory logic, one did not need to be born in the 80's to be a kid of the 90's.
@Scruuf The 90's were alot more than just 6 bands and the click that dressed like them. In the 90's anything went. I was 20 years crazy in 1990 and that where I kicked off.
@TheIkkap I hear you bud. 20 years crazy is a good way to put it. But its more or less a generalization of the 90's. The "6 bands" are an idea, not a total blanket, cause I could spend hours listing bands from the 90's that kicked ass, but to get a good idea of the 90's, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Blind Melon, those are at least good starts. :)
@Scruuf I was born in 93, and i totally agree with you, the music was better and it was a lot less mixed so you know it was legit. I still wear the same pair of jeans three times a week becuase it's nonsense to wear one pair of $60 jeans that are already torn up, wtf, I wansn't full on knowing of 90s but looking back at it, it all makes sense. 2000s are great, but shitty acceptance
@Skakid789 In the 90's there were plenty of pretty boys paying $200 for a pair of jeans that looked like Bon Jovi's. Every generation has awesome music and shitty music. We get to decide what we listen to even when corporations are shoving their choice down our throat. It just so happens that now they can take anyone and make them sound like mariah carey. Not that I am a big mariah fan, I just acknowledege that she has an amazing voice. (and boobs)
@TheIkkap Even if people yell at you its Ok because you are expressing your opinion, but in this case since you are right it would be a fact. Especially about Mariah Carey in both ways.
@TheIkkap dude i completely agree with you about everything you said. i certainly agree about the boobs cause lets be honest, who doesnt like a good pair of boobs?
@TheIkkap can't help but agree with you there...seems right now every band has to sound like Nickelback or similar to it to get on the radio...It just makes you wonder how many great bands are out there that go undiscovered because of the music industry's dilligent ignorance.
@Maxharddrive64 There's good stuff out there still, just gotta ignore the radio! :-) People like all of us listening to this music and wanting better stuff are on the right track. We just have to keep turning over rocks and finding good bands...
@TheIkkap you can still hear when the song means something to the person singing it, and you can still tell by the word choice, metaphors, and simile's if the person is an artist or just someone who wanted to be famous.
@Scruuf Bro just shut the fuck up and listen to the song dont make fun of the kids and how they dress just sit by and watch it happen you fucker ohhhh look at me i lived in the 90s and i like to complain about the stupidest shit on FUCKING YOUTUBE ass hole just listen to the song and dont even comment fuck i hate people like you
@halopro1225 Five dollars says you're the kind of kid whose mother still picks out their clothes, or you shop at Hot Topic, or you have a diary. I have to say as well, posting that you hate people who post, when there is the option to post, is kind of hazy when it comes to common sense. You posted back, to say you hate people who post opinions. Good on you. :)
@Scruuf Wooooow you got me right on the dot, 1. i dont shop at hottopic its fucking gay ass store 2. my mom is dead ass hole 3. you can go fuck your self. :)
@Scruuf HS class of '93 and the girls were sanding down there jeans on the middle school bus in the 80's and dudes had to dirty their own hats because abercrobie was still for old golfers but poseurs are poseurs. Plaid and work boots I still consider acceptable attire for just about anything except my grandmother's funeral. Wool sweaters in the summer is totally an 00's hipster affectation. Wool caps with a T shirt were totally Seattle though.
the 90s are over dude. The great recession is over. obama is in and osama is on the run beside alot of music isnt club music anyway. yall gotta stop watchin television for 5 hours a day
@franellew i agree. i mean, half the people who LOVE the nineties werent even around for most of them, and if they were, they dont remember it well. i mean, if you were born in the nineties, you really wouldnt know how good they were at the time. but for those of us who werent 5 years old, they werent that great. nostalgia is always better than the present i suppose
@theplaceblog fucking bullshit dude. i was i member of the 90's club, and i can tell u, they were a darn sight better than the crud coming out today. when u really think about it, rock and rap have ran their respective miles. back in the late 80's, music was going downhill, and the grunge scene, not to mention the gangter rap wave, reinvigorated tired genre's. now we are just waiting for the next pioneers to move in and shake the shit up, its gone stale again..... thats the nature of the beast
@TheRis81 I don't understand why everyone thinks the 90's were 6 bands and people that tried to look like them. Grunge was around for like 4 years. What about TECHNO and the rave scene?? I partied at the Tunnel and The Limelight. What about heavy metal??? Remember FUNK like The Infectious Grooves??? What about Nine Inch Nails?? Remember Queensryche????
@TheRis81 Back in the 90's I was young and full of potential. Now I just got alot of cool stories from the 90's. Boy oh boy they are some good stories though.
Your right, Someone does always come around and reinvent music. In 2000 it was eminem,
@TheIkkap Or softer music, I.E Sublime, Blind Melon, etc. Or punk music, I.E Greenday (It's true!! They were punk at one point!), Pennywise, etc. Or rock in general, the non-grunge kind i.e 7 Mary 3, The Toadies, Violent Femmes, etc. NiN was awesome. But as for the 90's, bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, Pearl Jam, are all a good start for someone looking to explore the music scene. :)
Gawd can somone please take me back to the f'ing 90's! BTW, I never wished I was a teen during the 80's...in fact I'm glad I was so young that I don't remember much of it. Would have loved to have been around during the 70's though...
The people that like the music of today will say the same thing about the music of 10 years from now. In 2020 people of today will say how Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga were the shit in 2010. It always happens, with everything in entertainment.
There is no more real stuff these days. Lady Shmaga, Justin Shmieber and kesha shmesha and all the hip crop can die. Please, do us a favor. Bring back the good old times!!

Scruuf 1 year ago 28
@Scruuf Dude, i was born in '92; yet the whole bit about work boots, old jeans, long hair, and plaid still applies to me. Hence, according to your vaguely contradictory logic, one did not need to be born in the 80's to be a kid of the 90's.
Zhaniikah 1 year ago
@Scruuf The 90's were alot more than just 6 bands and the click that dressed like them. In the 90's anything went. I was 20 years crazy in 1990 and that where I kicked off.
TheIkkap 1 year ago
@TheIkkap I hear you bud. 20 years crazy is a good way to put it. But its more or less a generalization of the 90's. The "6 bands" are an idea, not a total blanket, cause I could spend hours listing bands from the 90's that kicked ass, but to get a good idea of the 90's, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Blind Melon, those are at least good starts. :)
Scruuf 1 year ago
@Scruuf Alice in Chains was one of my absolute favorites and Sound Garden, Beastie Boys, Infectous Grooves, etc....
TheIkkap 1 year ago
@Scruuf I was born in 93, and i totally agree with you, the music was better and it was a lot less mixed so you know it was legit. I still wear the same pair of jeans three times a week becuase it's nonsense to wear one pair of $60 jeans that are already torn up, wtf, I wansn't full on knowing of 90s but looking back at it, it all makes sense. 2000s are great, but shitty acceptance
Skakid789 1 year ago
@Skakid789 In the 90's there were plenty of pretty boys paying $200 for a pair of jeans that looked like Bon Jovi's.
TheIkkap 1 year ago
@Skakid789 In the 90's there were plenty of pretty boys paying $200 for a pair of jeans that looked like Bon Jovi's. Every generation has awesome music and shitty music. We get to decide what we listen to even when corporations are shoving their choice down our throat. It just so happens that now they can take anyone and make them sound like mariah carey. Not that I am a big mariah fan, I just acknowledege that she has an amazing voice. (and boobs)

@TheIkkap You are completely right in every way.

@TheMrDAMO Thank You. Most people on youtube tell me to go fuck myself. Its nice to be agreed with.

@TheIkkap Even if people yell at you its Ok because you are expressing your opinion, but in this case since you are right it would be a fact. Especially about Mariah Carey in both ways.

@TheIkkap dude i completely agree with you about everything you said. i certainly agree about the boobs cause lets be honest, who doesnt like a good pair of boobs?
dethbogg 1 year ago
@TheIkkap can't help but agree with you there...seems right now every band has to sound like Nickelback or similar to it to get on the radio...It just makes you wonder how many great bands are out there that go undiscovered because of the music industry's dilligent ignorance.
Maxharddrive64 1 year ago
@Maxharddrive64 There's good stuff out there still, just gotta ignore the radio! :-) People like all of us listening to this music and wanting better stuff are on the right track. We just have to keep turning over rocks and finding good bands...
blakedawg76 1 year ago
@TheIkkap you can still hear when the song means something to the person singing it, and you can still tell by the word choice, metaphors, and simile's if the person is an artist or just someone who wanted to be famous.
addictedtotoads 1 year ago
@addictedtotoads I agree with you. I like everclear. Did you get the impression that I didn't think he was an artist. I do think he is an artist.
I think the glam bands were artist too. Even if I make fun of them they are entertainers so they are doing their art.

Wool caps with a T shirt were totally Seattle though.

franellew 1 year ago
@franellew i agree. i mean, half the people who LOVE the nineties werent even around for most of them, and if they were, they dont remember it well. i mean, if you were born in the nineties, you really wouldnt know how good they were at the time. but for those of us who werent 5 years old, they werent that great. nostalgia is always better than the present i suppose
theplaceblog 1 year ago
@theplaceblog Just like how high school sucks while you're in it, then once you get into the real world you realize how good you had it.
TPopes 1 year ago
@theplaceblog fucking bullshit dude. i was i member of the 90's club, and i can tell u, they were a darn sight better than the crud coming out today. when u really think about it, rock and rap have ran their respective miles. back in the late 80's, music was going downhill, and the grunge scene, not to mention the gangter rap wave, reinvigorated tired genre's. now we are just waiting for the next pioneers to move in and shake the shit up, its gone stale again..... thats the nature of the beast
TheRis81 1 year ago
@TheRis81 I don't understand why everyone thinks the 90's were 6 bands and people that tried to look like them. Grunge was around for like 4 years. What about TECHNO and the rave scene?? I partied at the Tunnel and The Limelight. What about heavy metal??? Remember FUNK like The Infectious Grooves??? What about Nine Inch Nails?? Remember Queensryche????
TheIkkap 1 year ago
@TheIkkap u may have a point there....im just a rock fan, reminiscing on my glory days.... and yes i do remember NIN, awesome shit.
TheRis81 1 year ago
@TheRis81 Back in the 90's I was young and full of potential. Now I just got alot of cool stories from the 90's. Boy oh boy they are some good stories though.
Your right, Someone does always come around and reinvent music. In 2000 it was eminem,
TheIkkap 1 year ago
@TheIkkap and now.....? perhaps dub rave? lol
TheRis81 1 year ago
@TheIkkap Or softer music, I.E Sublime, Blind Melon, etc. Or punk music, I.E Greenday (It's true!! They were punk at one point!), Pennywise, etc. Or rock in general, the non-grunge kind i.e 7 Mary 3, The Toadies, Violent Femmes, etc. NiN was awesome. But as for the 90's, bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, Pearl Jam, are all a good start for someone looking to explore the music scene. :)
Scruuf 1 year ago
Gawd can somone please take me back to the f'ing 90's! BTW, I never wished I was a teen during the 80's...in fact I'm glad I was so young that I don't remember much of it. Would have loved to have been around during the 70's though...

The people that like the music of today will say the same thing about the music of 10 years from now. In 2020 people of today will say how Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga were the shit in 2010. It always happens, with everything in entertainment.
