Is there true freedom and a better world here on earth?

  • I dont understand the language but this is the most moving performace . wonderful

  • @kiheitek100

I didn't like how Cory Aquino or other former presidents run our country after Marcos was replace, I agree with you on that.

However, you should not say cruel things on someone's funeral. I hope and pray that when your time comes, no one would do the same thing you did on your funeral...Isn't it painful to imagine how your love ones would feel after you leave them behind?

Oh yea that's right you won't feel a thing coz your dead, never mind!

  • She is a hypocrite and sorry to say so goes the same with all who buried her and propelled her son to power. As a supposed venerated leader she should have, at the very least, showed she can forgive. For her to be buried ahead of her predecessor is already a shameless and despicable act! Her whole life and administrative years from the time her husband died was marked with vengeance that is why all the more she could not monitor her greedy cabinet ministers who stole more than everybody else!

  • my fave..Ms. Lea Salonga!

  • I know that Lea is a great singer and that late Pres. Cory served our country well. This song justified their different roles for our country, both bringing glory. To be honest, while listening to this song, I felt as though I need to be a Filipino again. The music gave me goosebumps and a choke in my throat.

  • I wanna hear Charice rendition of this song.

  • @candie8301972 yeah! same here..and also Magkaisa!

  • @candie8301972 I really miss home. If only I can gather enough money to go home. Listening to these songs reminded me of the day Marcos was ousted, I was still a kid then and Mrs. Aquino was in Cebu at the Carmelites sisters. that was the most awesome and hopeful day. She was our hope sad part are her corrupt advisers. Just hope I do not get made fun of though, my Tagalog and Cebuano is very poor.

  • i was so touch ..buwaaaa..Lea the best of all beast.!!

Cory Rest in Oeace...i remember seing you in person at Makati Building and i told you you will be the next President..

hse replied..."ITULOY ang Laban.." and she sign the magazine..i was 18 yrs. young.!:-)

  • Lea Salonga is the most admired artist/singer in our country, Ang ganda ng kanta niya para kay cory. Mabuhay tayong lahat.

  • VERY WEEL SAID BLUBUGHAW...

  • Opportunist.

  • Long live Philippine Freedom!

  • I <3 Lea Salongga so much!!! When I watched this, I almost cried. :')

  • The woman with a timeless voice, the one and only Lea Salonga.

  • So sad,but a awesome singer...Long live the Philippines!!!Great people..God Bless you all..

  • Talagang ginawang Pinoy Idol 'tong libing.

  • @1818JoseRizal1898 That's how Filipinos mourn (and celebrate, for that matter) - excessive outpouring, saturation of emotion, etc. it's very pastiche and postmodern. it has a lot to do with being colonized. if you read Jessica Hagedorn's book, Dogeaters, you might get what I mean. Let's understand the culture first before we judge if we should even judge, at all.

white signifies celebration of life that just passed. changes in tradition should be welcomed. they're signs of life.

  • @1818JoseRizal1898 eh ano ba dapat?

  • Cory was not an honest woman. She was a hypocrite. There was so much corruption by her and her family during her administration. Even their own farmers were cheated of their rights...she did it herself by amending the the CARP Law to her favor. Come on people, when are you going to wake up from the deception this woman did to the Filipinos. Read and you will uncover the dark side of this woman.

  • RIP Pres. Cory!

  • RIP!! madam cory! your are a great leader!!

  • RIP madam cory!! your great leader!!

  • Oh my, what a heart wrenching song.

  • it made me cry......

  • Cory done nothing for the country same with her son noynoy...look at the bus hostage

  • @bmwnoooti Di ko alam sa karamihan ng Pilipino, ang tingin sa Presidente ay hindi na tao, as if lahat kayang gawin. Tayo aynasa lipunan, kapatid, iba ibang tao, iba ibang pag-iisip.

  • @bmwnoooti Please spare us your ignorance, and quit talking out of your ass. And while you're at it, brush up on your english.

  • RIP President Cory. Thank you for the freedom.

  • Stil love Lea's rendition.Very heart warming.I feel like crying.

  • Best rendition of bayan ko. Mrs. Aquino was not a hypocrite. She was honest and God fearing. Kaya lang she was surrounded with all the balimbings who were running the country. The son should be OK.

  • WOW!!!

  • @MsMakahiya HOYYYYYYYYYY IKAW ANG DEMONYO KHIT IKAW WALA KANG LAKAS NG LOOB LUMABAN S ISANG DIKTADOR UNLIKE CORY.... NKAKAHIYA KA PATI IBANG LAHI BILIB KY CORY EH IKAW????? NATURINGAN PA NAMANG PINOY PERO KINAKAHIYA ANG TAONG NAGPALASAP SAYO NGAYON NG KALAYAAN GO TO HELL

  • @MsMakahiya And you? Mind blowing us away with a detailed list of your sterling, impeccable achievements and selfless acts of heroism for the Philippines? I didn't think so.

  • Pres. Cory was not a hypocrite.. she was just a crossroad victim between fighting a dictator and her inexperience to politics. The power failures were due to lack of managing experience, and hypocritical cabinet members who suddenly became opportunistic. Cory was not a hypocrite ,she just dont know how to run a country,,, she was trying to run a country whom she lives dearly. Pres Marcos was a great leader that went array in his latter years, dictatorship commanded absolute power... Absolute po

  • @bakery26 Correct. Her acceptance to be candidate against Marcos was an act of Patriotism indeed.

  • @bakery26 agree

  • Yup! Cory is a like a hypocrite, and what did she do our country. When she was the president, it was always brownout and democracy is what we are now. Tell me what she did. In marcos time we where 2nd world country

  • @PSVortex Dumb as a rock, you are. "It was always brownout"? Thanks for the laugh there, at least.

  • Yup! Cory is a like a hypocrite, and what did she do our country. When she was the president, it was always brownout and democracy is what we are now.

  • we love you so much! NINOY and CORY.... ur love for country will forever be remembered

  • let us take the Iron hand than serves justice and use it to subdue the tyrant of our country that is called corruption. Manny lives have been lost during the 1st EDSA revolution and up until now death is as quick as a lightning, as unpredictable as luck and as painful as a sword with teeth. Yet what do we see? nothing but promises from some manipulating people in the administration and insults from the cycle that is called the opposition.

  • @rareglobe

i agree! u deserve ll our love and respect NINOY and CORY!!! we will miss you

  • Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Aking lupang sinilangan! Tahanan ng aking lahi! God is gracious! We will be realizing our dreams of a better Philippines in the soonest time!

Let the EDSA spirit remain forever! Happy silver anniversary EDSA People's Power Revolution!!!

  • When lea sings, you feel the emotion like a ton of bricks... It's just full of emotion and it's great! You feel whatever she wants you to feel through her singing and it's more than what I can say about all the sappy movies combined. I don't have to sit through an hour and a half of dialogue just to get the feeling, I just have to listen to lea.

  • Ang tunay na INA NG DEMOKRASYA!

  • The First Women Presidents in The Republic Of The Philippines.....We Salute You,Laban!

  • SAYANG NAWALA ANG ISANG INA NA KARAPAT DAPAT TAWAGING INA....NATING LAHAT.

  • This woman is the talent! Shoot she made me cry... And ms.cory was the greatest woman i've known . . . The who took part from usurping phils. Power back...

  • Lea Salonga rendition is just perfect. No affectations. She enunciates Tagalog the way Tagolog is spoken unlike that singer who sang the national anthem at the Pacquiao fight singing Tagalog with American accent..

DIba, binabayaran silang mag-harvest dun? Isip naman. Pasalamat ka, malaya ka ngayon.

  • MsMakahiya: Do u know what you're talking about?? Are you one of the farmers of Hacienda Luisita para masabi mo yan..o you're one of the few na mahilig maniwala sa hearsays..Nakakahiya ka tlga..You should have not been born as a filipino.

  • Cory Aquino is a hypocrite. She is not at all the exceptional person she portrayed she is. She is a very vindictive person. How can she be called "a symbol of democracy" when she did not even lift a finger to free their own farmers at Hacienda Luisita from eternal bondage from her greedy clan. She and her family are thieves claiming the land that belongs to the farmers.

  • @MsMakahiya ano ba ang sinasabi nito?

  • @MsMakahiya well who would you call a "symbold of democracy" is?

  • @MsMakahiya I PITY YOU..tipong myopic ka ! Cory was not a hypocrite....si Makahiya ang hypocrite kaya nga nagtatago siya sa pangalan niyang...nakakahiya !

  • HERE IS THE ENGLISH VERSION My country, the Philippines, Land of gold and flowers With love in her palms She offered beauty and splendour. And for her refinement and beauty, Foreigners were enticed. My Country, you were enslaved Mired in suffering. Even birds that are free to fly Cage them and they shall cry, How much more for country so beautiful Would She not yearn to be free? My Philippines that I treasure, Cradle of my tears and suffering, My aspiration is To see you truly free
  • This brought tears to me my eyes... Lea Salonga is an amazing singer I have most of her songs on my iPod....this was beautiful and the whole of the Philippines would of been proud of her...I would love to know if anyone could translate the song in English for me....I have total respect for her here.... It must be so hard singing on your own...but to sing at the funeral of a president or prime minister must be even more nerve wreaking... I don't no how she kept calm and continued singing... I co

  • You made us really proud to be a Filipino Ms. Lea Salonga! Mabuhay!

  • wow...gave me chills..

  • Lea's Bayan Ko evokes a deep sense of patriotism, of loss and hope for the future.

  • BEST RENDITION OF BAYAN KO FOR ME BYT FAR....GOOD JOB LEA....YOU ONLY ALWAYS USE YOUR POWERFUL VOICE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME! NOT UNLIKE.......(YOU KNOW WHO!)

  • Cool!

  • Beautiful song!!! This is like the second national anthem after Bayang Magiliw. Just like here in the U.S., Star-Spangled Banner and God Bless America.

  • @Mahalkopinas actually God Bless America is not one of the anthems of US.. I believe it's SS banner and My country 'tis of thee. GB America is only a patriotic song.

  • @Mahalkopinas

Lupang Hinirang. Not Bayang Magiliw. :)

  • @lhadiepierce BAYANG MAGILIW, PERLAS NG SILANGANAN, ALAB NG PUSO, SA DIBDIB MO'Y BUHAY, LUPANG HINIRANG DUYAN KA NANG MAGITING, SA MANLULUPIG, DI KA PASISIIL, SA DAGAT AT BUNDOK, SA SIMOY AT SA LANGIT MONG BUGHAW, MAY DILAG ANG TULA AT AWIT SA PAGLAYANG MINANAHAL, ANG KISLAP NG WATAWT MOY TAGUMPAY NA NAGNINGINING, ANG BITUIN AT ARAW NIYA KAILAN PA MAY DI MAGDIDILIM, LUPA NG ARAW NG LUWALHATI'T PAGSINTA, BUHAY AY LANGIT SA PILING MO

  • @lianlaspinas AMING LIGAYA NG PAG MAY-AAPI, ANG MAMATAY NG DAHIL SA YO

  • @gagaboan

Here's the thing, I replied to @Mahalkopinas, sinabi nya that this was "like the national anthem after Bayang Magiliw". My reply was to correct that our national anthem is Lupang Hinirang not Bayang Magiliw.

Was I referring to this song? NO.

Really, try using better words. Huh!

  • is that your palusot?? wag ka lang masabing engot!! Im using the right word!! which is better for you!!

  • @gagaboan OH WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!

Naintindihan mo ba yung sinabi ko? It seems not. Seriously, did I ever mentioned that this song was NOT Bayan Ko? NO. Why don't you trace back and see for yourself?

Geez. People like you are sick. And I am even more pathetic for replying. Err.

  • amazing ang pagkanta ni lea salonga for the lost of our late Pres. Cory Aquino..

  • Wow , that's so intense and heartfelt : )

President Cory would've given her a standing ovation if she's still alive .

btw, great rendition! i so love it!

  • Lea's singing of Bayan Ko is beautiful..RIP Pres. Cory Aquino...

  • those 4 colours on the philippine flag are the most common colors ....so therefore the philippines flag is one of the most beautiful flag in the world

  • My mother teaches me this song when I was a young girl.

This is the best ever .... she is so good!

  • lets be realistic....2 language is better than 1..wag n masyado mgpakapinoy patay n c manuel l quezon ama ng wika.at ng babago rin ang panahon..very competitive n ngaun sa boung mundo wala kng mararating kong parti n lng kabobohan ang nsa isip!!

  • there's no big deal when we speak english. let's accept the fact that it is the most powerful language. what is wrong is we keep on fighting and making issues to small things, and we failed to focus on bigger things. poor mentality.

  • @ersamvier5645 indeed

  • the best filipino singer ever..ever ..ever..charice? not..just like comparing a hyundai with mercedez/rolls royce.

  • she sounded like she's really hurting. :) i love this version. lea is one of the best singers that the philippines has ever had or ever will have. great rendition. full of emotion and she has really shown her vulnerability with this song.

  • Pa English English pa kayo prepreho nmn tyong Pilipino

  • My condolences to you Mrs.Aquino. And you should be proud, your son,His Excellency Benigno Simeon Noynoy Cojuangco Aquino III is the new president and just as what they say, another Aquino to add history to the nation! LIKE MOTHER LIKE SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8 persons na utak talangka missed the like button

  • as in

  • ganda

  • nice

  • Beautiful.

  • they don't have to close up those in military uniform ,in remind me of ninoy aquino...

  • Lea simply voiced out her deep feelings by her song. Look at her expression, it's full of sadness and hopelessness (because of our current issues) but in the end, her song is full of hope for the Philippines to struggle and love our Country.

That's how a true singer sings. Mabuhay ang Pilippinas!

  • her voice is the main reason she grabbed the spotlight worldwide. lea salonga is the first ever pinay to win the prestigious tony awards held in new york city years back. she continues to make waves and prevails greater heights for her unmatched success.

    mabuhay ka lea salonga!

    aihihihi!!!

    baklita

  • @pumuputak The sad part is, with her beautiful voice? My Filipina wife saw teh camera pan to the military contingent that this video showed and my wife said "Putang Ina" those are the ones keeping our country down. However, again, as my previous post? This year the United Nations congratulated the Philippines for having a peaceful election for a change. There's hope.

  • why this have 8 dislikes :(?

  • I`m proud of u Leah. I`m proud being a filipino!

  • Nobody had ever sang this song this way. Lea Salonga just wont stop making everyone every Filipino prouder.

  • I could never forget this... this was the first time I ever cried (in this song)..Lea was amazing..the way she had sung it was just so unbelievably heartfelt.

  • this is the best song of lea salonga sung. is so very touching and rest in peace tita cory. thank you for all our future. because of you, the [philippines is now peace no martial law, and to ninoy too, MABUHaY kayo at sa PILIPINO, its very touching,:(

  • i want to be like her sometimes:) if im already adult, thats my wish

  • I hope the 8 people who disliked this did that because Pres. Cory died. Otherwise, they're deaf.

  • i love you ms. lea salonga

  • lea salonga..galing talaga!!

    naiyak ako~~rip president cory.

  • Leah! U give so much justice to the song, I'm so proud of you. You're one of the living example that will make us Filipino be proud of our being.

  • This song is sung so beautifully by Lea! I don't understand the words but I can feel the emotion

  • Bravo Lea!

  • The best rendition of what could have been a great national anthem to date. Heartfelt & full of soul. Lea sings this song reminding us why she made the world take attention, grabbing the limelight & owning the accolades without apology to her critics (if there are).

  • @UniversalUtubeCritic i dont know why they give a such a respect burial to cory, while marcos did a lot for the country and once a soldier before who fought during WWII ain't received any burial respect from philippines.....hawaii did.

  • @kailokuan Because Marcos is a bitch, He doesn't need any of so called Filipino's Respect. Instead of using his brain for the betterment of his countrymen, He use it for his own personal gain. I hope marcos burns in hell together with his cronies.

  • nice arrangement. not cheesy as some other verions.

  • it still touch me... whenever i watch it...

  • This song is the greatest of all time. Its a shame people still don't pay attention to songs that have significance and meaning, and do to songs about sex and money.

  • RIP tita cory

  • lea's tribute!

  • 4 Mabanggo: Yes I agree. But I also have noticed that this phenom is not only with countries colonize by Spain. It also is present among countries colonize by Portugal. Prime example Brazil, and some countries in Africa. Where the majority of it's population is Catholic.

  • the philippines is more south american than asian actually.

  • @fixingbraincell agree absolutely....a VERY south american country who happens to be in Asia, LOL

  • lea, simply the best! farewell cory.

  • IT'S SO NICE TO LISTEN TO MISS LEAH SALONGA'S GOLDEN VOICE.. GOD BLESS OUR FORMER PRESIDENT MRS. CORY AQUINO.. LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY AND PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN THE PHILIPPINES.. GOD BLESS EVERYONE..

  • I love this version! She sings with feelings. It's as if I'm with Aguinaldo back then.

  • actually i'm Thai and have filipino bf.now i'm in Thailand and i'm goign to say the situation that the great one of philippines gone it's very so hurt for me.coz many important things that she did for all filipino people and for my bf too....

    very hurt for her gone

  • Cory Aquino and her husband tried to make the Philippines a peaceful and prosperous country, it's unfortunate that corruption infects some government officials and people in general. God Bless you Cory ... you are in heaven now in the section called Filipino Paradise ! mahal Kita Filipinos !

  • Wow... grabe.. she still sang it really well, although she was trying not to cry.. Amazing.

  • @cocobatuk: well said!
