Katarina Witt is a wonderful skater and an olympic champion, but no one jumps like Yuna Kim. I think Tara Lipinski came close, but she's so tiny and covers little space. After watching all 4 of Witt's performances, I think it's an understatement that Yuna Kim's performances are 'one' of the greatest. There's not much difference in ladies' jumping techniqies, most female skaters jump like Witt.

Dick Button needs to shut up... the slow section in meant to add in choreography and catch your breath. I'd much rather see Katarina's posing than Debi Thomas' "athletic" Carmen that didn't hold a candle to this masterwork.

She skated a beautiful tribute to Schindler's List in the 90's.
I think she's probably very nice too.All the years working so hard.I admire her.

Katarina was an absolutely flawless skater, and even if Debi had of skated well I bet Katarina would have won. Her LP was NOT in ANY way slutty, it was just artistic. Incase you didn't know, there is a difference between a "slutty" program, and an artistic one.

Skating competitions remain, to me, an odd creature, however; imagine having a running commentary provided to a music or theatrical performance, where the only thing considered is how many "moves" of various kinds are performed!? This strange and very superficial thinking must constitute a tremendous frustration for the real artists of skating. Witt speaks from her soul; that is what matters, here as in all art. Skating was never a sport.
Video quality is poor but that still does not make the magic any less! When I think of Figure Skating - Katarina Witt and THIS performance are still the first!

Certainly one of the most memorable programs ever. The middle section - who else but her could do more than one minute with no jumps or spins? And the beginnging... you can feel the tension of the music growing as she gets ready for that first combination. That, my friends, is perfect skating!

Katarina Witt is a great jumper, but we can´t say that she´s a great spinner because she could be better in all her spins; but she was incredible what she did in that time was unbelievable because anyone can be as good as her.
Dramatic and striking. I just wish it had included more actual skating. All that posing and standing around in the middle section doesn't really stand the test of time. If that middle section had been reworked, this would have been THE classic routine from the 1980s.
