To be on the safe side with your XBOX 360. 1) If you have not already purchased it, wait another year or two until all the bugs are completely gone. 2)Put your system HORIZONTALLY! on a flat elevated surface 3) Keep it AWAY From the Wall. The machine needs some space for air to circulate. 4)Don't play games for 10-15 hours straight. It's not only exhausting the system, but overheating the interior. (This actually goes for any system)

Probbly to do with having your 360 up on it's side, I work in a games shop and your not really suppose to do it, makes the laser have to work twice as hard so it wears out very quickly had over 10 back for that very same reason.
Actually the laser doesn't have to work any harder, but the spindle in the dvd drive pack that actually spins up the drive has to deal with more stress due to it actually supporting the inserted dvd, instead of gravity doing most of the work.
The laser would be working easier. Gravity isn't pushing it down at all. The laser doesn't move from it's position, all it does is shoot its beam, and read the reflected data from that, so how would it matter?
