Hi, I'm an italian swimmin instructor. These exercises are great. Today I taught my swim student these exercises ! Thanks very much! I've no idea, that it's so easy and fun to teach the flip turn. Martina, from Venice, Italy
Struggled with step 1 but as soon as did with arms behind with noodle, brilliant.
FANTASTIC tutorial.
When using pull buoys had to go back to noodle for a few more tries but once got hang of arms staying still behind, had it nailed it in 15 minutes.
Now all I have to do is get used to the length of time underwater & lack of breath, gets hard breathing bilaterally after a couple of lengths of tumble turns. Gonna practice 4 lengths continuous, then 6 lengths then 8 lengths etc etc.
@KenDiriwan - make sure you're blowing out through your nose during your flips. Sometimes the water going up your nose can cause this. Also, pay attention to what you're eyes are doing. If you're WIDE EYED through the turns, there's always a chance your getting dizzy. I find that I have my eyes open as the turn starts, then they close during the flip, and open again when the feet get on the wall. Good luck, and visit the website for more info.
Including "what not to do" in instructional vids, like this one, serves great purpose. Most likely I'll do the "what nots" first, then learn to do "what to do" properly. Many thanks!
I had little trouble with the first step and the second step with the noodle, but as soon as I try step two with the pull bouys I sink faster and loose direction. Any tips out there.?
It is not necessary¡¡ I actually do both, I usually do straight when Im going to follow with back stroke, and angle when Im gonna keep my current style or any other front style.
Wow this video was very helpful. Thank you!

Why is it important to flip straight? I know some fast swimmers that flip with their legs slightly angled. is it just to push off straight?
